The rooms were really spacious and comfortable. The bathroom especially with the barn door and the brand new showers with a rain shower head was a real plus. They accommodated us to be on the same floor and were very helpful in general. The fact that it used to be a technical school showed in the details of the rooms but in a cool way (like the blackboard art).
Making the valet mandatory was not appreciated. First of all, the parking lot is so small that you can easily just get your car yourself, which I did because it was pointless to make the valet get it when it was 10 steps away. It was not worth $25 per night.

We’ve stayed at Tryp three times and it’s always very clean and comfortable. The room is small but that’s why they call it a micro king. It’s not so small you can’t move comfortably and the high ceilings make it feel bigger, as do the large windows. The designers were smart to keep the history of the building in mind and the focal point of the decor. At Over Eden, the rooftop bar has great views of downtown. The parking is valet only and there’s no other parking nearby, so be aware of that. There’s tons of great restaurants, bars and nightlife nearby too. I highly recommend staying here if you don’t need to be directly in downtown but still nearby.
The service at Over Eden was slow but I would say they were understaffed so that may change. Only having valet parking adds $25 to the price of the room but is probably cheaper than most parking garages.

Location was amazing....the building vibe was unique and loved learning the history of the remodel into a hotel! The staff were super knowledeable about the history and were excellent with providing local attraction information. The hotel restaurant had excellent breakfasts!
Rooms were a little tight.....but, totally manageable. Double beds are tough for 6'3' people (my hubby)....but, we made it work! Would have preferred free coffee downstairs in the morning considering what we pay for the nightly fee? Again...didn't mind paying for breakfast :)

cool vibe, very clean. Stayed for 5 days and room was never entered/cleaned which was what I prefer. Small room but fine for one person. There is no wall btween the shower, sink and bedroom so no privacy if sharing a room. Also right near Butler street, chock full of great bars and restaurants as well as a stones throw away from my conference at National Robotics Engineering center. Great view from rooftop bar, but food options up there were limited and/or small plate apps. Staff was super nice and accommodating. comp coffee and danish in the morning were nice too.
No fridg or microwave and ice only available in lobby. valet only so add $25/night even though the cars are parked right next to where you walk in, literally 10 ft away. my room was facing 40th street and street noise was very bad during morning/evening commute time. Trucks sounded like they were going to come right through the wall. Friend stayed on other side of building, much quieter except on garbage pick up day.

it’s in the best spot in the city; perfectly placed for food and drink, boho shopping, independents, the best French patisserie in the US, and with its own very fine bar-restaurant. Very quiet, large and comfortable rooms.
The member of staff who treated us very badly on arrival; this was fixed later on, and in the morning the management took care of everything. Highly professional, and very un-American, insofar as customer service in the US is routinely terrible.

I really liked how they repurposed a trade school building to be a hotel. They left many of the original details in place while making a very comfortable hotel with welcoming public spaces. The room was well-laid out and had plenty of space and a large window. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent--right in the heard of Lawrenceville, a very vibrant residential neighborhood close to downtown Pittsburgh.
I didn't mind the noise from 40th Street (the main street in front of the hotel) but some people might find it disruptive to their sleep. It is a busy street with relatively high speed traffic. I am sure it is much better if you have a room in the back of the building.

Impressed with the repurposed use of the previous school’s materials like the wooden basketball court floor as elevator highlight. Fantastic city views from the top floor bar. Rooms are small and utilitarian, yet comfortable.
Parking is an issue but the times we skipped the valet parking, our rental survived the nights on street parking unscathed. The staff will tidy up on request but sweeping and vacuuming not included in the tidying up. Forced us to mind our manners and keep our detritus in check.

it was very clean and in a good location. easy to get where we needed to go and lots of good places to eat nearby
i purposely reserved the handicapped room for my husband but he was unable to use the shower chair. it had been installed improperly and was pulling away from the wall. it was unsteady. the rest of the room was nice. we never received any touch ups from housekeeping and had to ask for more towels. we stayed 4 nights 3 days.

It was very close to the event we were attending. It was so clean and EVERYONE we encountered was helpful and kind. We had a clog in the shower when we checked in and they came to fix it in LESS than 5 minutes
Everything was wonderful. The only thing I didn’t like was how dark my room was. I won’t let paint color keep me from returning.

Unique property (was formerly a trade school) that has charm along with a convenient location on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. Very clean! Valet parking staff was very nice.
The mattress was too soft for my liking... No ice machine or soft drink machine (only available by the reception desk). The ground floor bar was closed; appears to be a staffing issue.
