The worker was a sweet older lady. She worked hard and was super kind. She helped many people, including myself. She never tired of her duties and worked so hard. She was awesome. The people at the front counter checking us in to our hotel were just ok. Not very knowledgeable about the surrounding area when we asked questions. It's ok- we have google, but 2 different front desk clerks surprised us with their shortness and lack of knowledge. It came across they didn't care. When we asked what was the most popular sight to see- they said "Oh.....the..... park" and waved their hand in a direction. "Which one?" I asked..... their are so many national and state parks (and monuments) nearby. We wanted to hear from a local what places were the best to see. She stopped and said....."the one with the..... the..... the....those buffalo." Got it. I stopped asking questions and figured it was best to rely on google after all. I appreciated all the magazines and pamphlets the hotel had because that told us about things that were not on google. We really appreciated the maps too. The associate wasn't rude, but could care less about our travel questions. The 2nd person the next day was abrupt and short when we asked directions to something.
Happier people at the check out counter. They are the first person and the last person that greet us at the hotel. They are our first and last impression of the place. They didn't seem to care. They were not rude, but rather nonchalant. We would stay there again.

Beds were very comfortable. Room had a fridge and microwave, which was great, and the breakfast was a nice bonus. The hotel had nice extras, including warm, freshly baked cookies every afternoon and 24-hour access to tea, coffee, hot cocoa. They also had an EV charger, which was awesome as we were road-tripping in our Tesla. The location was the perfect central spot for our family to see the sights on our list (Mount Rushmore, the caves, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse) and the town itself was quaint with a nice grocery store and cute restaurants. Would highly recommend!

We stayed here for 4 nights and found it a comfortable and well situated hotel which we would be happy to recommend. Custer itself is a charming little town well situated for Mount Rushmore, the Iron Mountain Road, Needle Highway and Custer and Wind Cave Parks (with all the bison)
This is a comment on all 9 hotels we stayed in during our trip (Denver, South Dakota, Yellowstone, Capitol Reef and Las Vegas. The wastage of plastic/cardboard plates and cups and the plastic cutlery now used (after Covid?!) for breakfast is appalling - there appears to be no recycling going on at all. If you want to save the planet, pack your own plates and cutlery and take washing up liquid.

The desk staff in the afternoon when I arrived and in the morning when I left were very helpful and courteous. A good face for the establishment. The room was very nice and the whole building was very well maintained.
The room, the staff, and breakfast was pretty good. Would have liked to seen some sweet rolls on the counter but they did have a tasty Muffin. The eggs and bacon were pretty good too. The room was very quiet as well. That's much appreciated

The Comfort Inn & Suites Near Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore provided a great respite for weary travelers. Our room was well-appointed. Not much of a view (Road front) but perfect for an overnight stay. The room was spacious enough for both my spouse and I to have "space" after 8 hrs of "drive time." The Inn's breakfast "buffet" featured real food and friendly service. The evening and morning reception staff were friendly and helpful. Overall I rate our stay and experience as excellent. We dined at Th Pounders Inn. The food was really good - we opted for the "veranda," which was a mistake due to poor lighting. The food tasted good - just could not see what we were eating.

The breakfast was very good. Ate it all 3 mornings we were there. We loved that you had housekeeping come in everyday, even when we were staying several nights. That is much appreciated!!! It seems that housekeeping has went by the wayside since the pandemic 😢
My husband likes a recliner in his hotel room, that is what he's used to sitting in at home;) Hard to find a room with a recliner.

The night we checked, the front desk lady was the rudest person I have ever met in the hotel industry. She didn't have one nice interaction with us in the few days she worked, and we were there. On our papers, it says her name was Mchurr. If we hadn't already booked that hotel and put our card down, she would totally be a reason I would not have stayed at that hotel. With all this being said the rest of the staff were very nice and friendly.

Perfect location for our visit. Staff was awesome. We accidentally left one of our small bags at the desk. When we called back later in the day, they said they had the bag and would hold it for us. We were passing through Custer on our way home two days later. When we picked up the bag, no one was at the desk but the cleaning person knew about the bag and got it for us. We appreciated their concern for our situation. Room was comfortable and clean. Fair price.

Comfortable rooms. Great breakfast. Clean and nice.
I accidentally left part of my CPAP machine in our room when we checked out. I realized it at our next destination, which was in Wyoming. I called and talked to the person managing the desk and asked if it was in lost and found. She said no and was rude and said I was the one who left it and it was probably thrown away. I tried to explain it was an expensive item and her excuse was the maids were from Jamaica so they wouldn't know.

Friendly staff and the girls working the desk would have a large plate of baked cookies at the deskin in the afternoon. Breakfast was great with good selection and the people who serviced that area were excellent, always keeping items available and area clean.
Window curtains above the wall A/C unit should be made shorter or there should be some way that the curtains when they are closed, and the unit is on do no blow in and block the air flow.
