The early 20th century bank has been transformed into an elegant bar, restaurant and hotel. We loved the details like the old copper doors to every bedroom and the large, modern bathrooms. The breakfast was fine and the coffee was free. The hotel is next door to Alexander's, a gourmet restaurant where we had a fabulous meal.

The neighborhood is fun to explore by day, with lots of little shops and cafes, but at night (Wednesday and Thursday nights, both nights we were there) some people were engaging in endless loud motorcycle races and car races up and down Jefferson St. It was hard to sleep through that.

Amazing hotel - unique and different from the usual cookie cutter chain hotels. It really is a beautiful and historic building, newly rebuilt into this hotel. The staff did not really take any time to explain key info like check out times, facilities on site etc but we were only there one night so did not impact us much. The place is so clean especially being brand new, too bad they decided to install carpet which is going to get old and dirty fast but for now looks very nice. Our double room was huge! Great separation of space which worked well for our family of 4. Last big of advice, mgt should really drill the cleaning and maintenance to the staff. Which the room was clean, since I am a clean freak, raised the toilet seat and sadly saw some old urine stains on the underside of the seat. I travel with cleaning wipes so we clear to clean that as a first step. So not ideal. However I did provide them the feedback and does not take away from the property. Location is fantastic close to market square. I would definitely stay here again

The staff were amazing. I was traveling solo with a 4 yo, which was not necessarily the target clientele of this boutique hotel. However, the experience was exceptional for me and my daughter. I liked having a more upscale hotel and she LOVED the restaurant staff who showered her with love and attention…literally the cooking staff were playing hide and seek in the lobby. The hotel manger and team went out of his way to make us feel welcome and my playful 4 yo feel appreciated. I also loved the lightening in the rooms, which allowed for dimming in a way that actually lets kiddos sleep but also lets caregivers find the way around the room, which is rare for even kid focused hotels. While I don’t think this would be a great fit if you are looking for a family focused hotel, if you are looking for something more refined and have a (mostly) rule following pre-schooler, this is a great hotel to explore Center in Square and all that downtown Roanoke has to offer.

I think recent experience with toddler toys helped me figure out the coffee maker (turn the pods on their side!).

Location was great, walkable distance to a lot of restaurants, bars. Staff was very nice and accomodating. The drinks at the bar were good and the ambiance was, as expected, special with the building's background. The parking garage was only one block away, which was very convenient.

The proximity to the train station from the hotel may be convenient for people travelling by train, a warning about the noisy trains that drove all through the night would have been nice - the earplugs provided in the rooms may have been an indicator for that particular room we had though (rooms on the other side of the hallway may have been spared by that, I can only talk about our room which was facing the tracks). The windows weren't insulated well enough to keep the noise out, unfortunately.

The hotel has a very stylish, kind of glitzy, hip vibe. The bed was very comfortable. The location was ideal for me as I had to catch a train at 6:20 am, and it took all of 4 minutes to walk to the platform. As long as you are able to walk easily, parking in the nearby garage was easy, walking to restaurants was easy, so great location.

The coffee machine - there is one in the room, it’s just tiny and fancy and tucked into a dark closet. I got pretty annoyed dealing with this overly chic, unfamiliar gadget and its unmarked mystery pods at 6 am because…I hadn’t had my coffee yet.

Wow this was a surprise find and will be my new go to in Roanoke. Not a new concept to put a hotel in a bank building but this really works. Impressive entrance hall with the date of the bank above the old vault. The impressive glass backed vault door shows the old lock. Comfortable seating to the right with high tables down the middle. The foyer and reception leads into the bar area with impressive columns either side. Moving up to the spacious room with equally spacious bathroom and double size tiled shower. The room door in the original copper was impressive. Bed was fabulously comfortable and the room was quiet despite being right next to the lift. Above all this the rate for the two nights was very reasonable indeed. Staff were all friendly and efficient. Bar is nice with a good selection of wines and cocktails. Molton Brown toiletries. Finally parking is free in a car park directly opposite.

Bar orders are separate from the hotel so you can't put drinks on your room. Not a big problem but irritating. Breakfast is bagels and the like so you have to go out for a proper breakfast.

The hotel is steps away from Roanoke’s museums, shops, bars and restaurants. It is also right next to the Amtrak station. The hotel building is a tastefully repurposed former bank and the hotel bar is great.

However good the soundproofing, it can’t completely block out the rumble of the trains. If you are sensitive to low-level noise, use the complimentary earplugs provided or bring your own. Other than that, the breakfast is the only kink that needs to be ironed out. Hopefully that will be take care if by the time you visit.

The style was unique, cool location, large stand-up shower, comfortable beds, and unbeatable city view in downtown Roanoke. Check in was easy and the people were friendly. I would highly recommend this stay in Roanoke,VA.

The only thing I would prefer to see different is the pricing on the Vault's restaurant menu. I paid 50 dollars for a drink and appetizer. It would be nice to have some options or alternatives for breakfast too, like room service or a small dine in option at a flat rate in the mornings.

Great location! Convenient to restaurants, bars, and everything downtown Roanoke has to offer. The hotel itself is beautiful mix of modern meets vintage that truly works. Beds are very comfortable and who doesn't love a great shower? It's definitely all the little extras that made this hotel a memorable stay.

Parking is validated at the Center in the Square Parking Garage, which is about a block from the hotel. You have unlimited in/out privileges for the $8 a day rate, but this parking garage fills up pretty fast, especially on weekends.

convenient location. cool vibe. Towels were nice and thick. The bed was very comfortable. The bar glasses in our room were nice and heavy. Loved the design in the shower. Loved that it had a safe and a fridge- with a freezer component. staff was friendly. Explained the parking sticker in detail. Could unload car right by front door.

Trains were loud. A woman was screaming in the alley way at 3 AM. Raised rugs in the hallway were difficult to navigate the luggage cart. The bath mat in our bathroom had black marks on it and seemed dirty. There was no one at the front desk for a while when we came to check in.
