Hampton Inn and Suites Roanoke Airport/Valley View Mall

Breakfast was excellent. We had stayed at other places on the trip that only had grab and go, or no breakfast at all. The food was quite good and the staff serving the breakfast were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, and oriented quite nicely. As far as location, it was very close to restaurants and shopping. The drive to downtown Roanoke was easy, and did not take long at all.

There was really only one thing that could have been better. When we arrived at the hotel, and requested some maps or information about the city, and how to get to the city, there were no maps from the front desk staff, or any other information like magazines, or other documentation. They were helpful about telling us how to get to the city, but not really helpful for anything to do, or to see once we got there.

We've/ I've stayed at this facility well over a dozen times. This is our go-to hotel every trip up to Virginia to visit my mom, which I try to do every 3 months. There's a Longhorn steakhouse a quarter mile away that we hit every trip for dinner. A very reputable Chinese restaurant literally right across the street as well.

During the height of covid in mid-2020, there were homeless folks sleeping on the back deck furniture. Seems to have been corrected. As of recently, being in a major mall complex, I still see the occasional sketches walking around in the rear parking lot.

The cleanliness of the facility. From the dining area to the rooms to the pool and exercising room was truly relaxing.

This year was different the staff wasn't as informal, attentive, or aware to us as guest. Seems like there were changes to the staff. Last year when we visited the staff was very friendly, professional and informal.

Maintenace and upkeep were always attended to. This is like, my 10th stay at this property. Thecstaff on this visit were great. Unlike the last stay back in March... That front desk lady and her lackeys were worrhless. Didn't see her this time around, thankfully. Location is good, as Longhorn Steakhouse is right around the corner! 😁

My only gripe... Those back doors into tbe hotel are always broken! You'd put your badgekey on the sensor and the green light would go off, but the doors were slwsys stuck! It was that way during my March visit as well.

Room was clean. Basics provided for a one night stay.

Housekeeping failures...TV in room 222 had no signal. Lauren at front desk did her best to get TV operable but to no avail. Lauren provided the solution changing room from 222 to 221. TV functioned, but clock next to bed was five hours slow. Others had problems with their TV's as well keeping Lauren quite busy. These are housekeeping failures. TV should be checked to ensure its functionality. As for the clock, a small item but a lapse of housekeeping to ensure room is in p;roper operating order. Special kudos and thanks to Lauren who worked tirelessly to make my stay comfortable.

Very convenient for our route home to Michigan from Hilton Head. Bedroom area was clean and very nice.

Someone from Management needs to take a close look at the bathroom in room 225. it appears that some projectile event took place in there. When it was cleaned, the product took the color out of the wallpaper so all the scrubbing and runs show lighter. The edge of the door was missed and has a dark brown stain.

Everything went well except for the days after July 4th. Then breakfast was not good and there were no muffins or bagels. The closet opening and closing was extremely noisy and so was the flushing of the toilet.

How was my stay? Getting more expensive every time i stay at this property. This is my go-to overnight hotel 4 times a year, but i may have to begin seeking less expensive alternatives. Add that pinko VAT tax on top of it? Oy....

I appreciated the effort to provide a hot breakfast and provide distanced tables. I have since stayed at a Hilton and was very unimpressed with the lack of visible personnel, dining areas closed completely and meager offerings of just granola bars, yogurt and pastries.

I didn’t like how loud one of the housekeeping staff was when she was cleaning. She had her phone on speakerphone and was shouting all the way down the hallway and she was cleaning rooms. I thought it was a family with unruly kids just shouting at first but when I looked it was her. I was trying to work but I had a white noise machine so that was good. The internet went out twice but came back quickly so that wasn’t a huge issue but thought I’d mention it.

It was an extremely courteous staff excavation point we arrived later in the evening, and we're welcomed as if we were family, great location central to travel for us. Looking forward to staying there again!
