Red Lion Inn & Suites Olympia, Governor Hotel

This is our fifth time in this hotel so that should say enough. We would not be coming back if it was bad. It is not 5 star new hotel, but it is clean, good location, comfortable and good price... That is all that we need.. Sure, there are things that can be better like breakfast, few upadtes, or staff could be more friendly, but overall it's good. And that is not why I gave 8. It is not 10 because simply there are better hotels but this one is very good and we will come back again, I am sure.

The Governor Hotel is in a great location and is such a comfortable getaway! The front desk is friendly and efficient. They kindly honored our request for a high floor lake view room and put us on the top floor! The room was clean and spacious. There is a great coffee shop called Dancing Goats coffee right across the street and lots of fun eclectic shops within a few blocks radius. There are many restaurants close by too! The breakfast included with the room had so many choices of breakfast items including scrambled eggs,bagels, cereals, fruit etc. Friendly and fun place to stay! Free parking too in covered parking on the bottom floor.🥰

The price was what got me to stay but the staff and amenities were what got me to continue to stay while working in the area I initially was going to try out different hotels for the 3 weeks slotted for the job The parking was never a issue always had my vehicle in sight from my room. The security guard I meet on the first night was very helpful professional! As well as the front desk staff the same can be said about the rest of the staff from the housekeeping to the breakfast crew. The room was perfect for me and the view was absolutely amazing.

Only thing I can say i didn't like was the hot water was down for the first 2 nights but I was compensated.

Fabulous location to downtown. Easy walk to the water, restaurants etc. The room is very quiet and we loved the Lake View from our room......ask for it! Free parking too. The breakfast was adequate and had a wide variety of options. Waffles.Scrambled Eggs and Sausage.Oatmeal.Yogurt.Bagels. Juices. Coffee....however no regular half and half. Really enjoyed the photos of previous governors and local pictures. This is the 4th time that I have stayed here.

Elevator is SLOW....and only one was working. They needed to have a sign on the elevator to say that it wasn't working.

The hotel is close to downtown Olympia and within walking distance of bars and restaurants. Although, as noted by other reviewers, the hotel is opposite a park which is occupied by a few members of the homeless community, I had no problem walking into the downtown area and back after dark. The staff were very cheerful, polite, and helpful and the breakfast was as good as you could reasonably expect, including cooked options.

The general appearance is a bit run-down, especially the corridors, but the room itself was spacious and the bed comfortable.

The beds were super comfortable. The room was spotless and smelled wonderfully fresh. The room overlooked the park and the wall to wall/floor to ceiling windows were beautiful in the mornings and lovely as the day was ending. The towels and linens were nicely laundered. The staff was very professional and kind. Will definitely stay here again.

I'm not certain if there was security on site, but the Parking lot was a little worrisome in the evening.

The staff are very nice and friendly. The room is clean, comfortable and has a great view of the Capitol lake. We were very happy that the check out time is at noon instead of 11 am like other hotels. Also there's free parking at the back of the hotel as long as you are staying there.

The location is not the greatest. I didn't realize that it was in downtown Olympia when I booked it. There were a lot of people that appeared to be homeless in the area. Although they were just hanging out in the park not disturbing anyone.

Love the old and historic building, knowing that it’s an older building I wish that the owners would update the furniture in the rooms and maintain paint and other highly visible areas in the rooms (we had family in the adjacent so I saw both). The view was lovely in the morning.

Repaint ceilings in room. Clean outside on roofed area over garage where the “balconies” were… people definitely have smoked and other things from those “balconies”.

Excellent location, beautiful park across the street, restaurants close, State Capital right around the corner, quiet in the rooms, beds were comfortable nice view depending on room I think the higher up would be a better view of Olympia. The staff were kind good continental breakfast variety of food.

I just did not like the room I was put in first. I moved to different room and it was perfect.

The staff were very friendly and respectful. Breakfast was always good, if simple—I appreciate hot options like eggs or fresh waffles. The beds I stayed in were both very comfortable, although the second was a little too soft for my taste. I liked the bedding, it felt very clean. The sleep was definitely among the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. Location is good, right next to good restaurants, and I appreciate how easy it is to access both levels of the parking lot. I also really like the big windows. The little kitchenette in the suites is also functional enough for simple meals.

My first room here had springtails in the tub that wouldn’t leave even if I tried to get rid of them. They were attracted to the persistent puddle from the leaky bath faucet. Also, I tried to open the window in this room and the whole pane fell out. I was moved to a better room without the bugs in the bathtub, and I was happy with my stay after that. The heater is very slow, though, so a larger room like what I moved to was harder to keep warm.
