The Colony at Mandoon Estate

We could have easily stayed an extra night or two on top of our two nights, it was the perfect little getaway. Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We were on the ground floor which had a lovely little outdoor area to sit and sip a wine or two which faced the direction of the river. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy(had the best two nights sleep) and everything looked very modern. They supplied a good selection of tea/coffee and the toiletries were really nice too! We will definitely be booking again! It was fantastic having the winery just there as once you parked up there was no need to go anywhere. We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant and also the option to do wine tasting at the cellar door in a more relaxing fashion sitting at a table. Perfect little getaway!

None of this is major and definitely will not impact me booking again... however 😆 If you drink lots of water like we do be prepared to have luke warm water out of the taps! (They do supply two bottles of water and you can ask for ice) The shower is a rainwater style and I prefer to be able to alter the height. The fridge is very small and not as cold as a regular fridge.

It was very clean and comfortable. We had a nice meal at the brewery - the restaurant was not open on a Tuesday night, but the menu looked interesting. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom and Nespresso coffee machine. The receptionist was friendly and polite. Beautiful surroundings of vineyards and riverside.

Not sure on soundproofing of rooms... there was a bit of noise from the room above. There is also aeroplane noise from the nearby airport flight path. It didn't detract from our stay, just something of which to be aware.

Very comfortable bed, nice to listen to birds in the early morning. Good location.

The toilet didn’t flush properly, the water kept running. While trying to sleep the toilet would refill every 2 minutes. The noise from the valve opening was enough to keep you awake. Mentioned to staff on check out the response was they will get it looked at. They had a opportunity to make some sort of compensation but nothing was forthcoming. A disappointing response indeed. They have now offered us a 50% refund which I great. Would stay here again.

The floors in the rooms are not that clean. You had to wear shoes inside the rooms otherwise your feet were black in no time and the air conditioner vents need to be cleaned as you can see the buildup of dust etc on the vents. Otherwise it was a beautiful spot and I would recommend to stay here again. Swimming pool to escape the heat would be lovely

Loved the attention to environment conservation. First time I’ve had timber room pass instead of plastic and loved the wooden tags in the room and other green touches. A recycle bin should have been available though. Meal in the wild swan restaurant was excellent and staff friendly and attentive

The cost for the executive suite was over$350 per night- with a late checkin of 3 pm and early checkout of 10 am so not great value. When I asked for an 11 am check out it was going to cost another$50! The fridge is too small with no freezer. When I asked for ice it was going to cost $6 for room service to bring to the room! No special treatment for the expensive room so I would book the cheaper ground floor one next time.

Great breakfast and service (Adeline served us and provided excellent customer service). Modern and clean. Comfortable bed. Free parking. Quiet Location. Lovely setting. Complimentary water bottles. Easy access to the room. Prompt room service.

Showerhead was too high. Would have liked a handheld shower option. Had to ask for face washers, but the housekeeping service was prompt to bring us some. The reception desk did not answer calls on several occasions. Room service meal options were limited.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary, so for us the positives were primarily sentimental. Location is beautiful and quite idyllic, but the actual rooms are not very soundproof, you can hear a pin drop, noisy guests, predominantly coming back from a wedding and you are directly under a flight path, but it didn’t bother us too much. Housekeeping staff were amazing!! Very attentive and helpful. Restaurant / room service staff were lovely as well.

the beds were hard, pillow hard and the noise of people going up and down the stairwell next to room 6 was very loud and throughout the night and morning (not just talking but the noise of footsteps on the stairs was really loud) - so was not possible to get a good sleep. The noise from inside to out isn’t good so I wouldn’t stay for a restful time! deluxe Room is just like small hotel room but with lovely bathroom and outdoor setting

Had a great start with a very welcoming and friendly staff member doing the check-in. The allocated room was large and clean and all basics were being provided for (tea, soap, shampoo, ... and a bottle of water each). Our room was on ground level with a little terrace to sit and enjoy a glass of wine while looking over the surroundings of the nearby river. We had dinner at the Brewery - very good food and drinks and a splendid look over the vineyard. Brewery staff was very friendly. Free Wifi at "The Colony" and free parking right in front of it. We would definitely stay again!

The air traffic has to be mentioned, of course, as the airplanes go right over your head until late and start again at 4 am or so. Walls/Front doors are on the thinner side. Check-in time could be a bit more flexible.

Nice to be on the ground floor as we had a small baby. Good to have private area to sit at the back with peaceful view. Dinner was nice at Brewhouse. staff were friendly .

Primarily negative was the floors were not clean. When we looked at the soles of our feet after showering & walking around the room our feet were dirty. Had to wash them again before getting into bed !!!!
