Motel Newstar Laval

My Mom and I loved the location, it was so easy to get to the hotel and the parking was abundant. We also felt very safe and comfortable in the room. The hotel itself was so close to the Centropolis and to the Henri-Bourassa metro station. There were so many restaurants and even a movie theatre within walking distance from the hotel. The room was clean enough, and the beds were soft and warm. We could adjust the temperature of the room, as we wished and the water pressure and temperature was excellent in the shower. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful. Our stay was so relaxing. We will always stay here from now on any time we visit the Montreal area.

The unit was a little bit outdated, but honestly, it was so reasonably priced that it was not a huge deal.

It was very accessable and comfortable. Great value.

The room smells like cigarettes BAD. We had to leave the air conditioner and bathroom fan on whe we weren't there as well all spray ferbreeze to help the smell. The previous person must have smoked in the room. I am pregnant and it was almost to the point I had to request a new room. Luckily, with the air from the air conditioner and the fan, by the second night. The room didn't smell as strong.

The rooms were clean, small but comfortable. The motel appears to be renovated. we will definitely return in the future when we visit Montreal. Helpful and honest service, my wife forgot her pajamas, we had no problem getting them back after 2 days.

it would be nice to have a microwave in the room, but it seems to be missing in every Canadian hotel we've been to before, so I guess it's normal.

Easy Self Check-In Allowed my cat! BONUS: Nowhere for her to hide (she tends to find any spot such as under beds, sinks, etc. to hide and this place is 100% cat proof in that sense.) Comfortable bed & pillows. Quiet - didn’t hear any neighbours.

The rooms did have a musky smell but I didn’t care since it was a great price compared to other hotels in the area.

I am usually skeptical about staying at a motel because the quality is often not great. I took a chance on Newstar because it was conveniently placed in terms of where I needed to travel to in Montreal. It was a great space, including a fridge, coffee maker, table with two chairs and a very organised closet space and washroom. The bed was very comfortable!

The bathtub/shower/toilet was not 100 percent clean, but it was not major and the rest appeared clean and sanitized. The room was small but perfect for one person.

Location was great. The room was well equipped. Parking was convenient. Noise level was minimal.T

The pile of gravel on the driveway was a bit of an inconvenience. I had to park a bit further when I was loading on departure, and there was a major downpour. The trunk of my car was flooding while being loaded up.

The location was good for Laval - on a busy bus route, and within a 30 minute walk from metro stations. I could walk to the nearby Super C for groceries, and there are a few restaurants nearby

As some of the previous reviews have claimed, the room did smell like cigarette smoke, despite there being a no smoking sign on the door. This was somewhat unpleasant, but opening the windows helped minimize the smell

I loved the bathroom. I am a shower person, so I appreciated this bathroom with modern shower.

The first room that I was given had a hair and something else in the bathroom. When I brought it to the attention to the front desk, they quickly relocated me to another room which was cleaner and modern.

Easy to get to, friendly staff. The blinds were also perfect for blocking out light, so I could sleep in with no issues. The shower was surprisingly nice as well. Overall a great stay.

My room did have a lingering smell of cigarettes despite it being a non-smoking room. Would have liked parking directly in front of my room, but that's not a huge deal.

The room was very clean and comfortable, a good sleep.

It took us a while to find the hotel as the numbering was awkward. GPS took us a couple of roads away where the number made sense. Not sure why. I had to call to get directions and the receptionist was very helpful and then it was easy to find it.
