Holiday Inn Dresden - City South, an IHG Hotel

Buffet breakfast was very good, with a lot of options and constant replenishment. Although the location is not close to the city center, was easy to get there by bus. The bus stop is just outside of the hotel and at reception you can get tickets for the bus.

The only thing I dislike is that although I sent and earlier message to the hotel asking for a parking place the first night we couldn't get one. We arrive around 10:00 pm and exhausted, around there was a street reparation or something like that so took us 40 minutes to get a place in the street not really close to the hotel.

location is great if you travel by car - less than 10 mins to city center, cheap parking in garage or free in nearby streets. Quiet and safe area, groceries around. Hotel is rather small, cozy. Rooms have AC, big windows, bath, good water current, comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast (fresh juices, waffles, pies, tasty coffee from Franke Machine, fruits). We received an upgrade to better room with a minibar. Receptionists were helpful and friendly. Babies can play with toys on ground floor, have plenty of eating chairs.

WiFi was weak to non-existent in first floor. Pillows were not to my preference.

The room was perfectly cleaned and chilled. It was nice that the bathroom, apart from the usual stuff, had shampoo, shower gel, hair conditioner, body lotion. Breakfast varied, fresh, delicious. 30 minutes to the oldtown on foot, 15 by city bike :) Really recommend this hotel!

We were looking for a hotel already on site in Dresden , but the booking by phone took a long time and did not bring a favorable price, so I managed to get to the hotel and in the meantime make a reservation via Booking with a better price.

I booked this hotel for the Tesla destination charger, which was conveniently situated in the underground garage. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as expected from this hotel chain. The hotel has a modern interior. The room was OK with a fresh colourful design and of average size with a good bed. The bathroom was small but clean with a real bath. I only stayed there overnight, so unfortunately I didn't have time to review the breakfast nor the surroundings. But I would definitely use this hotel next time when I'm near.

The Tesla destination charger was not for free, but for a small surcharge because of the paid parking. The positioning of the chargers was strange. The 3 chargers are mounted very close together, so the third car may have problems charging.

Location is very convenient (close to train station and at the reachable distance from the city center). On the other hand, the place is very quiet, with small garden around the hotel. Personnel was very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was OK, but the choice of dishes is very restricted. Also, fitness room has a lot of facilities, but needs more cleaning.

Spontaneous upgrade to an extra-spacious room. Very well sound-proofed building, I'm a light sleeper but I did not hear any sounds at all. Good curtains, the room could be made really dark as well. Good breakfast, quiet area, very friendly staff.

Nothing was disappointing, it exceeded my expectations.

Hotel in a peaceful nice location, I like that a gym (albeit just basic) is opened around the clock. I really liked friendly agents at the front desk. I did not try the restaurant.

In fact I prefer to use small bottles and real soap in the bathroom than the large containers, which make me (perhaps irrational) feeling like who knows what is in and how long it has been opened.

Overall the hotel is quite nice, calm and with good ways of showing the hospitality. The personnel is ready to help. Have no idea about the breakfast, cause never used it. The is a free parking places just opposite side of the hotel street, not protected however, but the hotel offers the closed parking for 20 eur/day. I would say I’d stay in this hotel next time I’m in Dresden, but only provided that I’m not in a hurry to spend time for the ride to the city center. The reception girl was very nice to offer me upgraded executive suite, which had 2 rooms, each with it’s bathroom. And the great advantage - it’s pet friendly.

The hotel is acceptably, but still quite far from the city centre, so if it’s a middle stay in between the long journey, like what I had - it’s fine, but when there’s not spare time to spend, like in business trips - that might be a problem. COVID restrictions are nearly not noticeable any longer, which is good, but still in a bad connotation))

A nice room, very good bed. Breakfast is good and complete; not overwhelming.

Room not very spacy. Difficult to place the cloths somewhere. Desk is good for some limited work on it. It has air conditioning. Not everybody can live well with it.

The wifi had this ridiculous thing - limited number of connections per device per day. I had trouble connecting my laptop beacuse the page wasn't loaded, and then it said that I couldn't try to connect anymore this day. The speed was not great either.
