Penck Hotel Dresden

When arriving at the hotel we were impressed by the generous lobby with paintings. Our room was facing the inner courtyard, so they very nicely offered another with street view. That was from our part a big mistake. The room was on the last floor, smaller than the first one, and on the street there where workings. Breakfast is standard, underground parking with elevator access is a nice feature.

The hotel is modern, designed in the 2000’s but started to get dated. The room design witch was supposed to impress with a round wood pannel wall between the room and the bathroom is now just ridiculously unpractical with a table attached to the wall who is supposed to move on rollers to open a closet, and to do that you have to move the bed. Al that bizarre setting being reduced to a lot of space eaten from the room, to the benefit of a bathroom full of floor to ceiling mirrors (entering the bathroom you see four sinks), but a small shower. The lighting is also part of the bad design, with two semispherical huge lamps above each bed. As to crown all there is a peep window between the bathroom and the rest of the rooms. The windows in our room where dirty as was the windows on the hall.

An absolutely unique combination of a hotel and an art gallery by an artist nicknamed Penck. All floors and rooms (at least ours) are filled with his original work. Fascinating! The hotel staff is well versed in the history of the artist and the hotel. Apart from that, our apartment on the last floor met all our expectations. It was clean, spacious and very stylish. Delicious breakfast (the best I've had are small white sausages full of marjoram). Perfect location for exploring the city. I definitely recommend!

A funky hotel with friendly staff. A decent location for the price, about a 10 minute walk from the outskirts of the old town and a little longer (in the opposite direction) to the new town. An easy walk from Dresden Mitte train station. The room was comfortable and private.

Unfortunately no toiletries were included in the bathroom, which we didn't realise but wasn't the end of the world. The room layout was a little bit awkward with the placement of the table, kettle and wardrobe, but fine for a couple of days.

The location was excellent, right next to the train station and old city downtown. We also had the Hop on-Hop off bus stop right in front of the hotel and the staff helped us with the 3 day ticket for it. The room was spacious and very quiet and everyone was very helpful and answered all our questions in English!

We were there for a total of 4 nights and housekeeping could have done a better job of cleaning and providing us with towels and toiletries. Besides that every else was excellent.

Loved the place and the theme for it. The architecture is quite interesting but they make very good use of the space. The bed, bathroom, shower, view were great! We always could walk from any historical or cultural site back to the hotel, we had the opera house within 15 minute walk. It was great!

We booked without breakfast but had breakfast there and I think 20€ per person for breakfast is a little too much. However the selection was good.

The location was great and was within easy walking distance of everything The bed was comfortable. The decor was fun and artsy. The room was clean and spacious. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

We would have really appreciated having chairs in our room. There was a kind of stool for one person to sit on which wasn't very comfortable and nothing for a second person to sit on. Maybe this works for younger people, but we are in our 70s and chairs in our room would have made it perfect.

It's a good choice for a short stay, very close to main attractions and the room is quite big and pretty, huge bed. The parking is either on the street (paid in certain hours) or undeground in the building.

The staff at the bar is a bit weird. There is no close by shop or anything. The bathroom is a bit old.

I liked design, cleanliness, comfort, possibility of coffee in the room, location and especially staff. I arrived earlier than the check in time and was thinking just to leave the luggage for a while, but they told me the room is ready and I can check in immediately 🥰. Also they prepared a gift for my birthday, which was really pleasant.

There is nothing to complain about.

The bed and the location. The staff were very helpful. The bed was so comfortable. Parking was also very good. And easy to reach. Breakfast was good.

The room was clean but I found dust in obvious places; on the window frame of the window between room and bathroom. One wipe and it would be gone. And in the upper corner of the shower. The floors had no carpet which was great. Just small attention to detail.

It was easily accessible and the place was hip.

Our first night we discovered that the hotel rooms weren’t properly cleaned. We saw some pellets and it was apparently left over dog food. Management should manage their cleaning staff.
