Hotel Schlicker

On arrival at reception i was immediately made to feel welcome by a staff member with a broad smile and checking in was smooth and quick, my room was bigger than i expected , The tea/coffee tray was very welcome after my long journey .. After a very comfortable nights sleep the breakfast buffet had everything you need to keep you energized for a day of exploring this city from scrambled egg to Bratwurst to meats and fruits, freshly baked breads and cakes something for everyone's taste buds...hotel schlicker a gem in the heart of munichs old town

maybe more than 1 tea or coffee sachet on the tray.

Fantastic location and gorgeous rooms. The front office and breakfast staff are fabulous. Friendly and happy and only too willing to help when they can. The location can’t be matched. It’s fantastic. And easy to access by train from anywhere, even the airport where we travelled from with suitcases.

The housekeeping of the room could have been better. For example, coffee cup wasn’t cleaned and no extra toilet paper was provided. These were provided promptly though when I called and asked. Also the beds were hard as is often the case in Europe and I couldn’t get a topper at all over the three night stay. Pillows were also unfortunately terrible unless you prefer the feather ones that go flat. I requested a harder pillow and was given one that was a foam block so not much good either but the staff did try.

This upscale hotel is right in the very heart of downtown Munich. You can walk to everything in the inner city. Dozens (hundreds??) of restaurants, cafes, etc within walking distance. You can easily walk to many of the museums and other tourist sites in the city. Public transportation is all around the hotel. Hotel itself is well furnished and functional. It had the best breakfast of any hotel we stayed in Germany. Because of its excellent location, I highly recommend staying here. Bonus: there is a little grocery store (Rewe) across the street. I cannot rate any parking, because we did not have a car - as an American, driving and parking in a big German city like Munich is too much of a hassel.

First off, you can't beat the location. Central location but at the same time not at a place where people congregated , so it was easy to get in and out. I did visit in early part of October, so I'd imagine it'll be a lot more hectic during peak season. Anyways, it was near a ton of touristy sites, i.e. within walking distance. The room was small but I knew that before I booked this place...so no surprise really. I've to see what other options they have if I were to visit with my family. However, one big reason to bring your family and little kids will be excellent breakfast. Lots of option and it didn't feel like the food was out of a supermarket bag. Very impressive. Finally, great staff. Super helpful and kind. This includes the front desk staff, the housekeeping, and the breakfast staff. Nothing but exceptional.

I'm splitting hair here, but the carpet in the room felt a little old. The biggest issue, however, will be the TV options...there wasn't a single non-German channel. I was a little jet-lagged so did some channel surfing during my odd, awake times. Boring! I'm just glad that they had good wifi, so I was able to spend my time instead on my laptop.

The location is second to none! The hotel is steps away from most of the significant sites a tourist would most likely wish to see. Breakfast was exceptional. We would definitely stay here again.

Only two minor disappointments, neither of which is the fault of the management; first, our small queen room was smaller than expected (but was still reasonably comfortable). Second, our room was on the street side, which was a bit noisy well into the early morning hours. This can be easily remedied by requesting a room off of the street. Neither disappointment is reason enough to avoid booking at Hotel Schlicker. When visiting Munich again, we plan to make a booking here again!

The greatest thing is the location next to the Marienplatz with wonderful Christmas Market and a short walk from the opera, which I enjoyed very much. The atmosphere, nice Christmas decorations and the beautiful natural Christmas tree next to the beautiful tiled stove in the restaurant made a special atmosphere. And it is very close to the best Munich's shopping centers and boutiques, it was Black Friday :) Great breakfast with delicious local sausages and pretzels, amazing flat white with vegan milk instead of regular breakfast coffee normally served at hotels.

The only thing is not nice smell in the room, I can imagine it's an old building, I was just opening the window and it was ok.

Staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. They answered any questions I had and made great suggestions. Breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of food. Housekeeping kept things very tidy and clean. I was really impressed. Location is also great and close to everything.

The rooms are very small and my shower leaked water because the doors wouldn't shut all of the way. I wish they had a deadbolt to lock your room from the inside. We had a room in the front of the hotel so weekend nights were pretty loud but I just turned on white noise on my phone and kept it on all night and I had no problems sleeping. A few complaints but nothing serious.

Very small room, slept with the windows open the first night but the street noise/people never stopped. Second night was quiet with windows shut. Breakfast was excellent, communal terrace was nice. Staff was very nice. Location is excellent!

The bed is pushed up against the wall on one side and they used a flat sheet which easily came untucked both nights. There are several tables on the street side with people gathering until the early hours of the morning so you can't sleep with the window open.

Excellent location and perfect breakfast. Big Beautiful windows allowing fresh air and fantastic view of cathedral. Loved the church bells throughout the day! Nice reasonably priced mini bar. Market right around the corner and minutes walk to Marienplatz. Excellent grocery store nearby.

Bathroom was remodeled and modern but water ran over the shower lip even after was "fixed" by staff. So attempted to use bath with hand nozzle and water sprayed everywhere. Sink water would run over modern sink if water was turned up past a certain point. And the toilet would get stuck and run at times until we continued to flush it to get it to unstick. This was our only obstacle with our stay.

Location is fantastic, 4 min walk from airport train station. You can get the train at this station to go to the Exhibition Center. Lovely market & restaurants in the streets behind the hotel. The whole area has great shopping & sightseeing.

I would have liked a bottle of water to be supplied with the room. It’s a pain to have to go buy one when you arrive late. There isn’t a lobby or bar which is nice when you are travelling alone but the pub next door is great. Pub/Bar: (The food & staff are very good. A nice atmosphere & feels comfortable as a lone traveller.)
