Fitzherbert Castle Motel

The staff were the perfect hosts, knowledgeable about the area, offering information, and very hospitable. The executive room was immaculately clean and set out brilliantly for workspace at the table, and lounge area to relax in and the bed was ever so comfortable. The kitchenette was good with a minibar, microwave, fridge, and utensils and cutlery. Very spacious. Plenty of parking and secured with a gated exit. Total value for money. A walk very short walk to fast food, restaurants, liquor stores, PaknSav, and the mall. This will be my go-to from now on. Thank you for all your hard work

There is nothing I can fault. But, I do wish I had stayed when your cook was available.

The room was a corner room and absolutely huge. It was at the rear of the property and was very quiet. The trees outside made it very relaxing. The small euro kitchen tucked away was well designed. The shower was over a rather high spa bath. Very comfortable bed and seating. Short walk to the Irish pub on the corner for quite decent pub grub. Staff friendly.

We are over 70’s so found the climb in and out of the bath for a shower a little challenging.

Right from our arrival we were greeted by the very welcoming and happy face of Andy. Such a lovely owner, friendly and accommodating. Superb!

The only thing that I felt could be helpful is that many customers today (myself included) suffer hay fever and allergies. The spray used in the room was quite strong and over-powering. Maybe just a little squirt is all that is needed as it took my breath away and caused some sinus problem during the night. Just something small that perhaps could easily be overcome.

Really surprised with this gem of a motel. This was a last minute booking to attend a funeral, needed something close and at a reasonable price. Didn't really check any reviews or anything so didn't expect much but what a lovely place. They organised a late check-in for me as I was travelling a fair distance with no hassle at all. Room was large and scrupulously clean, bed was huge and comfortable. Such a nice room at a more than reasonable rate, very impressed and will not hesitate to stay here again whenever in Palmy. Highly recommended.

Nothing not to like

Relaxed stay in a good, clean room on a perfect location. We can park the car below the room and the room has everything we need. We always stay here when in Palmerston north because of it location and it offers all we want for a good price.

Nothing big. But maybe a tip. We do not need a whole tray of roomservice snacks in the room or a lot of roomservice drinks filling up the refridgerator. Maybe you can ask your clients if they would like that or not. We would rather had more space in the refridgerator because we had two chilly bins of stuff with us.

Staying at the Fitzherbert Castle Motel met all our needs and is a great location. Our stay was in the middle of Winter & the Room was very warm, cozy with a comfortable Bed and Pillows, this made the stay very relaxing and homely. Loved the Trees surrounding the Motel which gave additional privacy, would love to stay again during the Summer and listen to the Birds.

Could have stayed longer.

Great location - easy walking distance to town. Friendly staff. The room was clean and looked modern! Well worth the price, and a pleasant stay.

An alarm went off outside at midnight for about 5 minutes, we were still up so it was only a minor inconvenience. Could hear muffled TV from next room too (just barely though). A bit of road noise, but again only barely when the windows were shut.

The rooms are large and really, really quiet. The staff are welcoming and easy to deal with, the rooms were comfy, clean and well appointed and the motel is close to the centre of town. The free movie and sports channels on pay TV were a solid bonus!

It was all good, for the rate I paid I would not expect more and had I paid more for the night I still would have been happy.

Staff were extremely friendly and offered to help get our bags up stairs. They offered free fruit and candy at reception and helped us scan and email some urgent documents. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location is good because it is very close to a supermarket.

We arrived just after 1pm, but reception was locked as it didn't open until 2pm. This meant we had to wait in the car for a while. However, the staff did open up a little earlier, and were happy to check us in.

Great location for us - a direct drive to Massey Uni and walking distance to the mall. Staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful. Even asked the cleaner for some information as she tidied the room and she was really helpful too. Surprised/pleased to find the rooms cleaned/tidied daily.

Everything was great. If I were being picky, I'd say the studio rooms downstairs were a little dark, but we just kept the lights on.
