Parador de Alcalá de Henares

The location was excellent. My room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The pool was perfect to cool off at the end of the day (I wish it opened earlier in the day for a pre-breakfast swim, but I understand that you need to have a lifeguard on duty and there's not much call for early swims!). I really liked the fitness room - it was small but air conditioned, with towels and a water cooler on hand. Breakfast was delicious. My check-out was smooth - my luggage was kept safely until I was ready to leave, and a taxi to the airport was called for me.

My only criticism - coffee was a little slow to appear one morning, and we had ordered for two people but only got the one. The servings were so generous that we didn't mind!

We had no issues checking in and were surprised by the room's size, lighting controls, and breakfast. You can't beat the location. There is a 3-5 minute walk to the Plaza Cervantes and Alcala's university. From there you can continue to walk through the city center. Alcala is one of Spain's kept secrets. I can't underestimate the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. From the cleaning crew to the Front Desk team to the Management.

We had a hiccup during our stay. The original room assigned to us had a strong damp smell. We were tired from our cross-Atlantic trip and did not complain about the room's odor that day. We also thought the smell would disappear after opening the windows; it did not. On the second day, I reported the problem to the front desk, and I was told they would look into it. That same night, arrangements were made to change our room but somehow were miscommunicated. The following morning, the front desk staff reminded me that another room was ready for us. They took care of us; honestly, I have zero complaints about the incident. There was an issue, and they fixed it. We were surprised to find a bottle of champagne with a note from the manager in our room.

The proximity to the airport in Madrid while not being in Madrid was a priority for us. We wanted to stay somewhere nice but that would be easy and relaxing. The Parador was perfect. The accomodations were amazing. The staff was super helpful. The dinner at the restaurant was superb. 10 out of 10. We had to leave before the Breakfast Room was open and the staff made sure we had bagged breakfasts to go!

Amazing hotel right in the centre of Alcalá, so really easy to visit the town. The pool was lovely and very welcome as it was a very hot day. Good breakfast, you need to pick a time slot in advance. The rooms are very high-tech with buttons for different lighting and for the window blinds - took a bit of getting used to but I liked it. Parking costs 14€ per day but is very convenient and garage is spacious.

It was quite a long and confusing walk along corridors to the room, the hotel is quite maze like!

Central location a few steps away from Plaza de Cervantes, modern, efficient decor throughout, comfortable rooms with all conveniences. Helpful, English-speaking staff. Convenient parking in the underground garage.

No coffee maker or kettle in the room. Wi-if unstable from time to time. Hotel organizes events such as weddings, trade meetings and conventions. Expect congestion and commotion at times. Rooms clean, spacious and functional but not particularly cozy. Overall atmosphere is cool and business-like rather than warm, artful or in touch with history.

great location in the middle of a beautiful old Spanish town.

air con in the room would only go down to 21 degrees c which meant it was hot and stuffy. better with the window open but with that easily accessible to the outside it didn’t then feel as safe as I’d like.

Modern edge design - large room 101 - sweet dreams on high quality bed - on site parking or nearby LA PALOMA public parking at 6.95 per 24h. Fantastic restaurant for buffet breakfast or dinner.

Rooms 101 - 102 - 103 are directly situated on the main marble corridor leading to all remaining rooms on this level, and also in front of the main entrance to the pool area, so, very ver busy and noisy at all time. No in room kettel

The room was very big, clean and had all the amenities that anyones could need. The breakfast was very complete too, nothing missing at all

The price was very over the top. We got the massages which were great, maybe a special price per couple would have been nice but we ended up paying 600 for one night and massages which was a lot for what it was. Even though the hotel was amazing, the price per night is something you pay in New York, not Alcalá de henares.

The location is great , the hotel has a calm feel

I added a few extra nights on to the booking, this ended up changing my original price though booking.com for the rest of my stay. The massage I had in the evening was not as long as it should of been and felt rushed.

Fantastic location and well up to the Paradores standards

The first room they gave us was on a lower level with no view. It took a little persuasion to get them to give us a room on a higher floor where the views are magnificent. I think they should have asked for our choice when initially booking in.
