Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid

The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was adequate. It wasn't rich, but it wasn't scarce either. The location is perfect and is great for tourists travelling not for leisure. The room was quite clean.

If you only speak English, explaining things to the staff might be problematic as there is a language barrier. The room is very small for that kind of money and the design is not practical at all. The shower is separate and the sink is located in the room, so when you go to wash your hands or sneeze, everyone in the room will see or hear it. The air conditioning works in a very weird way and if you set the temperature to 20, it could blow the whole night or not blow at all, regardless of the temperature in the room. Overall, I would say that if the rooms were designed properly, it would be a 10/10, but is 8/10 for now.

The location of Playa Major was nothing short of breathtaking! Every moment spent was a grand delight, and the scenic surroundings of the hotel truly amplified the overall experience. It was truly a treat coupled with the luxurious amenities of the hotel, made for the most rejuvenating stay ever. I couldn't have asked for a better place to work from.

On the initial night, the atmosphere in the room was quite sweltering, which made me unsure if the air-conditioning unit was functioning effectively. However, upon bringing it to the attention of the hotel staff, I was impressed by their prompt response as they took swift action and resolved the issue. In fact, not only did they improve the air-conditioning unit, but they also went over and beyond to compensate me for any inconvenience caused by offering a delectable bottle of wine. Overall, this experience truly exemplified the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff.

Location is amazing - right on the Plaza Mayor (while still very quiet inside), and therefore within easy walking distance of most points of interest. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Beds are very comfortable (we had the extra large which was probably 180x200). Quiet and effective air conditioning.

The toilet was difficult to flush, it kept running so we needed to flush twice each time (which uses a lot of water). Also you do hear the water running from showers and toilets in other rooms.

just a couple of details, that for the price point shouldn’t go unnoticed: - they provide tea in the room but there’s no way to heat up the water - there’s nearly no hook to hang towels or jackets in the room, a little extreme minimal, not practical - maintenance details such as the toilet paper holder partially unscrewed and a wall corner broken, both could have been easy and quick repairs even during the cleaning hours during our stay

Toilet is separate and opens into the room with no sink attached. The sink is in the room next to the bed and one night the gutter was smelling. The shower is in the room next to the bed.

Staff were amazing especially Guzman. Always smiling and very helpful. The little courtyard was beautiful for drinks and we ate there 1 night which was lovely. We had a suite as there were 3 of us. Welcome chocs were appreciated. Slippers and towels provided. Good choice of TV channels. We used the rooftop pool. Small but lovely. Bar service although the Barman was not happy in his work! The main grumble was the air con…not effective at all so rooms were really hot! Will be hell in the hot summer months! Overall fab hotel.

Can’t think of better location , it is at center of of the city of Madrid and very close / walking distance from almost every tourist interest point to visit at the city. The fact that the hotel structure is actually part of the “Plaza Mayor” and has balconies that allows a great view over the Plaza Mayor is a great “plus” to the experience of the stay. From those balconies my wife and I we’re able to watch a unique and for the first time presented , fashion show in combination with an equestrian demonstration (“Andaluz” Horses) all together ! The total experience was a 10 ! The facilities quality and quality services were excellent. ( Breakfast and restaurant was very good). The most impressive experience and what really made a difference was the cordiality of the front desk personnel (Carlos , Ana S. and Alejandro Valderrey). They really went their way out to provide support and assistance. During a medical emergency I suffer …… they support efforts for me getting medical attention ( Doctor actually came to my room and treat me there). That experience really talks a lot about the Hotel work philosophy and the quality of persons working there. I really will remember the Madrid experience by three things : The Hotel Pestansa personnel and facilities quality , the city a attractions and cultural offerings. I recommend 100% the experience of staying at Hotel Pestansa …….! You will not regret to chose it for your next vacations at Madrid!

Didn’t eat at the hotel as so many amazing outside spots to try. Staff were amazing, very welcoming and helpful. Even stored my daughter and her boyfriend’s luggage after we’d checked out even though they didn’t even stay at the hotel! Excellent pool and sauna in the spa and good massages too. Room was spotless and had every amenity we’d need. Brilliant central location but still very quiet at night in room.

Toilet/shower kind of awkward step up in room and a bit dark and small. Couldn’t get AC working very efficiently but just opened window though this was fine in April but wouldn’t be in July or August!

Pestana Plaza Mayor is a very central location close to many cultural and tourist attractions within walking distance (max 5-15 min walk). Very confortable bed, but the pillows need to be higher quality (we received dawn pillows after request). Madrid is a young city, not from a historical point of view but based on the age of his inhabitants. Is vibrant and with a fabulous architecture. Is not only a great city, can be your home for ever.

Centralized bathroom ventilation was not functioning (properly) -very bad smell. Informing the front desk they said they know this issue… Breakfast can be more diverse. Value for money not satisfatory. Maybe somewhere around 350€/night instead of 527€/night will be more correct. And a word/advice for the front desk persons: they need trainings! They are polite but did not give any info about the city, no maps, no recommendations for tours, events, etc. They must be proactive and if possible to smile more because they are young and must transmit more positivity.

A luxurious hotel in the heart of Madrid. We loved the rooftop pool and it never seemed overcrowded. We had amazing views of Plaza Mayor from our room and the bed was probably the most comfy hotel bed I've ever stayed in - we loved the electric blinds too! The entire hotel was absolutely spotless too.

We didn't get a great night's sleep, due to the repeat noises of the toilet system flushing next/near to our room. It was a really loud noise, which went off every few minutes during the night. It was quite disruptive, but we didn't want to change rooms as we had such a great view of Plaza Mayor.
