Posada del León de Oro Boutique Hotel

Great location in La Latina area of Madrid. Room had a balcony overlooking the street with soundproofing. There’s a lively tapas scene down below. Bed was comfortable. Housekeeping came each day and the room was clean. The room was air conditioned. Staff was friendly and helpful and spoke English.

WiFi didn’t work in our room for our entire stay!! Some noise from the street and the atrium restaurant downstairs in the hotel but the real annoying noise came from other guests within the hotel. Our upstairs neighbor was quite noisy - music, talking and moving around up there until well after 3 am. No English channels on the television. Shower pan leaked onto the bathroom floor.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a fridge and plenty of closet space. There was even a Murphy bed we could have used if we wanted. I appreciated they had a shower closet separate from the vanity. The AC was excellent and the location was walkable to most major points! The area is mostly quiet and easy to navigate to.

The Wi-Fi was really spotty for us on the first floor. The staff tried to fix it and were very responsive to us, but the signal was poor for phones. It sometimes worked better with my computer, which was strange. Other than that we didn’t have any complaints!

The hotel was perfectly situated, on a quiet street with tons of restaurants, VERY close to the opera, plaza Mayor, palace, cathedral abd all the shopping. It was an amazing place. The staff were so helpful, kind and generous with their assistance. Only kne down fall. Should have a smart TV. This is something I've noticed in all our hotels. No smart tvs for the stay in the room and do nothing days. Otherwise, perfection. Will definitely recommend and stay again.

No kettle in the room for tea or coffee. No smart TV. That's it. Otherwise perfect.

This hotel is on a busy and social street that is walking distance to Sol, the heart of Madrid. Many restaurants, bars, and shopping are close by and Metro stops are not too far. This hotel’s bar and restaurant were lively and quirky and surprisingly the hotel room was an oasis of quiet hidden above the restaurant. I was concerned when leaving the chatty loud bar downstairs that I would hear all the talking and noise, but the room seemed to be soundproof! The space in the room was used well and the decor is modern and updated. The shower was awesome and the bed was super comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional. I would stay here again.

I wish there had been a way to make instant coffee or tea in the room. that’s about my only complaint.

The hotel is located in the La Latina neighborhood- one of the liveliest areas in Madrid. The Cava Baja street where the hotel is located is filled with one pub/tapas bar after another and is great for a stroll any time of day. The rooms were quiet. Many important historic sites in the area. The hotel itself has areas with glass floor where you can look down into the ancient remains of former caves. The room was clean and ample enough. It was designed for 4 people and offers some privacy with the beds being spaced out in 2 separate sections. The beds are probably some of the most comfortable beds I have slept on and the shower was nice and strong. Loved it!

There were two bottles in the fridge that were not complimentary. For the price of the stay, I would think that they could place complimentary water in the fridge or leave nothing at all.

We have stayed in this hotel for one night upon arriving in Madrid from the UK, and then we liked it so much we booked it for two more nights when we returned to Madrid to enjoy the end of our holiday. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms (we stayed in two different rooms) are very spacious and really clean. They are kitted out with very modern accomdations (showers, tvs, ...). The staff have been very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located within a few minutes walk of Plaza Mayor, so you are within easy walking distance of loads of restaurants, shopping, local attractions, ... Also it is a 30-45 minute trip to/from the airport on the Metro (I think it is about a 25 minute cab ride to the airport) and a 20 minute Metro ride to the Moncloa Bus Station ... On top of it all the price is very reasonable when considering all of these positive aspects of the hotel...

During our second stay we stayed in Room 201, and the internet signal was not quite as strong as we had enjoyed in Room 104 during our first stay. But it was still present and usable.

The posada was the perfect property for a first time visitor. Points of interest were easily within walking distance or a short metro ride away. The area is a tapas heaven, with tabernas lining the street and two mercados on either side - mercado San Miguel and La Latina. There were plenty of shops nearby and Gran Via was less than 10 minutes walk from the posada. The Christmas lights were lit during our visit and Madrid looked so festive and beautiful! The posada itself has a restaurant and bar frequented by locals. They also had breakfast available which was a great spread and catered to anyone's dietary needs. The whole property, from the restaurant to the front desk and the rooms were spotlessly clean. The amenities are just as it is stated in the description and the bed was very comfortable. As older travelers have specific requests and the posada ticked all the boxes. Saving the best for last, I cannot compliment the staff enough. The staff at the posada is amazing - courteous, helpful and have great follow through. Apologies for not remembering everyone's names but each one was kind, warm and welcoming. Thank you for treating us like valued guests. That made our visit to Madrid unforgettable. We plan to return and explore the places we missed this visit and, when we do, we will not hesitate to stay at the posada again.

Very friendly staff and a great location in a street absolutely packed with tapas bars and restaurants. The room was comfortable with soft towels, great shower and aircon.

For reading, there was nowhere to sit except on the bed, apart from one desk chair, and although there were reading lights on moveable arms, they didn't reach over the bed. So the only way to read was to hold the book to one side under the light, not comfortable. Also the WiFi on the third floor was a bit flakey, disappearing then coming back, which meant that streaming a football match was a non-starter.

most importantly the beds were comfortable (medium firm) and supported the body and took pressure off joints, the pillows were soft not too high (as they often are too big). The room smell exceptionally clean and fresh upon entry, having a mirrored table that was spotless is a testament to the level of cleaning. The bathroom had quality toilet paper and used Clarins products which was a very nice touch. The soundproofing work exceptionally well especially with the windows as there was a jackhammer outside and I didn't hear it until I open the window after I had woken. Clearly everything was well considered by somebody that has many years experience in hospitality industry like myself. The staff were kind, attentive, and had good suggestions for the local area.

They really wasn't anything I didn't like, if I was to be unnecessarily picky I could say there was a little noise under the door from the restaurant which is part of the hotel, however this is solved very easily by shutting the second external door and it was not loud or crazy, and everybody had gone by siesta time.

- The wifi was not working properly and the data phone was also to low - The phone in the room was not working and I had to use my personal phone to contact the reception whenever I needed… Also some lights were not working. - It didn’t had a thin curtain, and we could see the other rooms and they saw us… it was not confortable… to see the neighbors sleeping in their bed! 🤪 - Be wear with the hot water cause it gets really hot in seconds!
