Mercure Charlestown

great family room! the room was large easily big enough for 4 people with queen bed then 2 singles

our air conditioner would not work it looked old and dirty and was cracked we called reception who came up to see what the problem was, and we were told that yes, he knew about this one and proceeded to put his hand inside the vent and jiggle something around to get it to work. It did work from then on but it obviously needs to be replace.

The location was close to everything you would need. The room service from the restaurant was delicious. Nice little pool. The room was simple but comfortable with good Wi-Fi and cable TV.

Not much, but we didn't get any toilet paper replenished when room service came even though we only had a tiny bit left and the bathroom could of been cleaner.

Your staff were amazing, especially Jake. The cleanliness of the rooms was amazing. The beds were extremely comfortable and the sheets were silky smooth. The breakfast and the dinners were first class. I asked the waitresses to complement the chefs every night I come to work in Newcastle around once a month. I will definitely be back.

Nothing at all exceptional all round

Great location! We were given a complimentary upgrade to a King suite which was spacious & comfortable with a balcony. We also ordered room service for dinner and the quality of the meal was very good.

The door closers on all the other rooms need to be adjusted as we could hear doors slamming very loudly. Our room 226 the door closed slowly so didn’t make such a loud noise.

It's great for family, the bed was comfortable, the room is clean and my daughter has dust allergies and she was fine with the room,the staff were friendly. I recommended for this hotel if you are staying with family.

It wasn't as quiet as I thought, I guess because our room was facing the road and near to parking,but only for early morning, the night was fine.

Close to shops, breakfast buffet and dinner was nice and beds where comfy. Also like that there was a pool. There was also a spa but it was the same temp. as the pool. Liked that breakfast was included

Shower head was way to low. I'm 5ft 7. It touched the back of my head rather then above it. Rooms are quite large so a 2 seat sofa would have been great. And a table on the balcony would have been nice. A heated spa would have been great too.

Very good position, extremely clean and quiet. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Very yummy burger for dinner from the restaurant that I ordered via room service, which arrived promptly. Bed was comfortable. Good heating with air conditioning.

I always appreciate the warm and friendly staff and general feeling of the motel. I make the Mercure my go to place whenever I need to stay in Newcastle. I am always happy with my stay and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, friendly and comfortable home away from home.

I was very happy with everything. There is nothing that I didn't like.

Lovely overall. Comfortable bed. Lovely dinner. Friendly staffs. Very good cleaning bathroom. Good location. We would like to come back again in future.

Room 216. Felt cold room due to balcony door frame is draught! Need to sort out the balcony door frame to avoid windy through etc. Carpets are very old in whole of halls.

We chose the Mercure as it was close to the medical rooms of the surgeon. We had to be there early the morning after my husband’s eye surgery so it was easier to stay in Newcastle rather than drive home and back

The driveway is in shocking condition littered with potholes. We actually stayed two nights - a Tuesday night on consecutive weeks. Room 218 was comfortable and room 216 had evidently been renovated. On the whole the room was okay but the fan in the bathroom sounded like a 747 and the vanity was cute but it was difficult to fill the full size kettle and there was not much space to put one’s toiletries other than on the floor. Not sure whether there were door closers on doors but there was much slamming of doors which reverberated throughout the place so they might be considered. Food was most enjoyable. We dined in the restaurant on our first night and had room service the second time. All staff were courteous, friendly and efficient.
