The Greenroof

We stayed in the little cottage beside the pub, it was well appointed and suited our needs. The queen bed was super comfy, living room was also a nice size. I was surprised we also got a dedicated parking spot (be aware it only fits a small car, but we have never had trouble with street parking whenever we stayed before).

The air conditioning was only for the living room. It was exceptionally hot while we were there and because it is an old building, insulation is pretty terrible. We moved the single matresses into the living room and slept in there just to be cool enough. The single matresses are very firm so we went to Clark Rubber and bought a matress foam topper to make it soft enough to sleep. So we made it work anyway :)

The bed and room were very comfortable. The hotel and decorations were really awesome with tonnes of character. The shared bathrooms were huge and clean when we needed them. The staff were friendly and helpful in our limited interactions. We would definitely return.

The inside of the room fridge definitely needed a clean as there was stuff in the door compartment. The duvet was bare and would have benefited from just a basic cover. The lamp in the room did not work.

the interior design always draws me back to staying at the greenroof. for the price you pay it’s a very luxurious and high quality room. everything about it, the unique character of each room and the stairs leading up to the accomodation give the place a nice feel

Out of all the times I’ve previously stayed at the greenroof, this time there was only 1 thing wrong with the room. the top covers and mattress sheet had light blood stains and oily substances on them upon arrival to the room. was a little grossed out however we still stayed in the room and enjoyed the stay

The room was very nice and staff excellent.

Despite having my credit card details I had to pay a $50 deposit which I was told was a theft deterrent. I work in the accommodation industry, we take card details but but no security deposit as it's a prepay anyway. I was unaware of this until I arrived. Not such a problem but guests should be advised in advance. Interestingly I found someone s credit card and returned it to the key box at 4 am.

The Greenroof was very convenient for a one night stopover for anyone looking for reasonably priced accommodation close to the city, in our case The Civic Theatre. Although there was noise from music downstairs, it didn't interfere with our comfort. Parking onsite was good.

Very stingy with tea bags and instant coffee provided in room. Bathrooms provided were a bit of distance from our room, not an issue with us, but for others maybe.

the fact that on Friday night we couldnt have a shower before bed and to go to the toilets and clean your teeth because both toilets and bathrooms was full of girls giggling and carrying on in both bathrooms for a very long time not sure but think they came from downstairs

Clean and freshly renovated, I enjoyed the bathrooms were still individual while you used it (as opposed to stall style). Food in the bistro is good.

Bed is quite firm. Front door key didn't work, so we are lucky we didn't lock ourselves out. Staff never gave us instructions about use of doors, where bathrooms were, wifi etc. Just handed over a key and said your room is upstairs on the left.

Great pub with very tidy rooms, great comfy bed and a great shared bathroom. Convenient parking out the back. Staff were very friendly and they had a great range of beer on tap. Easy walking distance to Newcastle CBD. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Newcastle.

Property was easy to find and staff were friendly and happy to help. Rooms are above the pub, we stayed on a Tuesday night and had no issues with late night music or noise. Shared bathroom was very clean. Easy parking especially outside of pub hours.

The room needed a bit more dusting and cleaning of mugs and fridge

Great location for where we wanted to go. We enjoyed a drink and a snack before heading out.

I thought we'd booked a twin room which we would have preferred, but double was fine. Also, no tea bags , only coffee. Bit disappointing when you don't drink coffee.
