Merewether Motel

The bed was super comfortable and showerhead had great pressure and coverage. We loved the 5 star water rated toilet - it was quite novel. All facilities felt modern, the reception area always smelt amazing, and the staff were a pleasure to interact with. We didn't get to experience the pool but can confirm, the spa water was nice and warm. We appreciated the fresh milk provided for tea and coffee over standard long life milk. The included breakfast in the morning was a simple but welcome bonus. I'd eat Turkish bread over regular loaf any day!

Plates, bowls and cutlery not included in the room by default but they were available from reception. The layout of the carpark was slightly awkward - angled parking but only 1 entrance/exit and not a clear turn around zone.

Large room Light breakfast included Newly renovated room 22. Very very clean!

Breakfast of Turkish bread not preferred to (say) raisin toast or English muffin. Turkish bread didn't stay warm until after cereal and was over cooked/burnt. Easier if we could have a toaster to heat muffin or raisin toast after eating the cereal. Also would like a tub of yoghurt and/or stewed fruit. Pillows were far too soft. Not good for spinal posture. Perhaps you could supply one firm and one soft pp.

As a housekeeper myself, I really enjoyed the fact that you have to request other crockery/cutlery, face washers and get milk yourself from the reception. So many times these things either get used just because or they sit stagnet in rooms getting dusty. I appreciate how lovely the staff were, even when I asked a dumb question lol. The room was very clean, great assortment of biscuits and even hot chocolate.

Something that can't really be helped: a rather small, high up window that faces a brick wall. Not a lot of wind can make it through but it is what it is.

Great motel, nice furnishings with a really clean fresh and updated look. Great value for money and walking distance to Merewether beach. Room was nice a clean and there was plenty of parking.

The unit I had was quiet, being at the rear. The facilities were very good, very clean and modern. the staff were friendly. A very good location.......

I had booked 5 nights with breakfast "included" I was not advised just what was included? On returning home I discovered I had been charged an extra fee? Which I am unable to correlate to my stay? As I had cancelled one day b/fast [Xmas day] I was disappointed in paying max amount also with no room service on two consecutive days [Xmas and boxing days] {not that it was problem other than paying for the service I didn't get? There was a problem with no one in attendance in reception. Ringing the bell on checkout desk with NO response?

The included breakfast options were good, and the possibility of an even better cooked breakfast for an extra $10 was a nice touch too, although we didn’t take up this offer. Everything was clean and the main sink was in a handy location in the main room.

Parking was a little annoying, as we were not able to park very close to our room. Having to ask reception for face washers and cutlery, rather than being included in the room already, was unnecessarily inconvenient. The lack of toaster was annoying. The shower was very narrow and cramped. There was a large gap underneath the entry door which allowed a very cold draught to come into our room. We had to block this gap with pillows and towels. The seemingly innovative “water-saving” cistern sink above the toilet is more of a gimmick in reality. You need soap to wash your hands properly, and as there was none provided in the bathroom, we assumed it was incompatible with the cistern water, so we ended up washing our hands in the main sink anyway.

It was great to have a window to open to have a little fresh air at night, the room was quite comfortable but I like some fresh air if possible. Air con was quick to warm the room in the morning when needed.

The motel needs a small lift to the upper floor for travellers with heavy luggage. I don't actually need a disabled room but did find it challenging with my heavy case after a long train ride. The receptionist did ask if I needed help but I declined, not understanding that there were so many steep stairs.

Very central location including being close to lovely beaches and dining. A walk away from a modern pub. We were there for a cricket carnival and location-wise we couldn’t have picked a better spot for proximity to to various sports grounds. Loved the thoughtfulness with regards to sustainability - especially the toilet and also recycling. Good layout of the room. Comfortable bed. Microwave is handy.

Not much, but the fan goes on automatically when you enter the bathroom, and it’s a bit noisy then in the room because the bathroom door isn’t a solid one.

Loved all the modern, clean, comfortable decor and furniture. The pool and spa were great. Was much nicer than I expected and very well equipped with everything we needed. Very comfy. Loved the shower and bath. Loved the water-saving toilets that had a very unique system that should be compulsory across Australia, amazing innovation. This place really cares and the effort is in all the details.

If you are sensitive to traffic noise, perhaps avoid the apartment with pool views. We put the kids in the main bedroom which was on the busy road intersection because they sleep through anything, and we took the back room where the traffic noise was fine. We are from a rural property, not city folk and didn’t bring earplugs, so probably not a problem for normal people and the other rooms wouldn’t have this problem as they are further back in a solid building. Having said that, we would stay there again! It’s a great place!

Lovely and accommodating staff, good location and tidy accommodation. A great value stay.

Didn't realise plates/bowls/cutlery weren't provided by default until attempting a midnight snack. They were available to collect during reception hours - guests keep this in mind if planning to heat up a ready meal, or eat restaurant leftovers :)
