The Midcity Motor Lodge

We liked the location - right in the centre of Orange within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We also liked the spaciousness of the room which had room for a comfy sofa, chairs and a table to eat at. It is so much nicer to be able to sit in the room in places other than on the bed.

We asked for a ground floor room when booking but when we arrived we had been given a room upstairs. Management claimed that Booking.com had not relayed this information to them even though we had an acknowledgement email that this request had been approved. Fortunately we were able to change to a downstairs room (my partner has mobility issues)

Old style rooms that are good value for money and a bit quirky. Mini fridge had bottles of water (unsure if they were complimentary or you had to pay), if they were complimentary, that was a nice touch. Tea and coffee making facility also had the small packets of biscuits which you don't see very often these days. It looks like whoever operates the business takes time to care about the small things. The bathroom was small but functional, with the basin and mirrors separate to the shower and toilet (we stayed in a room with 1 x db, 2 x sb). It was easy to check in outside office hours with keysafe. Lots of parking when we stayed. Walking distance to food and shops.

It is a 2 star hotel so you get what you pay for. However, people sitting on the stairwells talking loudly whilst smoking late at night and early in the morning was disruptive to sleep. The area in front of every stairwell in the carpark is a designated smoking area, but people take chairs and sit near the rooms at the bottom of the stairs rather than in the carpark. They also sit on the stairs smoking and talking loudly which echoes. The smoking wasn't so much of an issue it was more the talking. The cars arriving and leaving were also noisy as the carpark echoes. Need complimentary ear plugs! Otherwise a good value option in Orange

The room was clean and tidy and having the table and chairs made a great difference since I didn’t have to sit on the bed to eat. The shower was good, it had a strong water pressure and having a hot shower that was actually hot was a bonus.

The only issue I had was with the TV, it was to high on the wall and the only comfortable way I could watch it was by lying down on the bed. Due to this I didn’t watch TV which gave me the opportunity to catch up on my reading instead.

Beds and pillows and towels were a little worn

Felt the floors were not all that clean

We have stayed at Mid City Motor lodge on 2 previous occasions and found the room to be clean, the facilities clean, the shower hot and the bed and just as importantly the pillows were most comfortable. And the management supplies biscuits to have with our evening cup of tea. Oh and the aircon was the best we have had in even higher priced motels -totally quiet and kept the temp down all night.

Perhaps as a hangover from Covid issues and labour availability I don't know but the surrounds, vis-a-vis the stairwells and the parking areas were badly in need of a clean up. We had not experienced this on previous visits. One very minor thing and that was there was very little space for hanging clothes up and only one coat hanger - a few simple hooks on the wall would suffice.

This is our second stay and this time our room was much quieter (other side of the ground floor than last time). The hotel is in a great location, the room was spacious, clean and has a small table with two chairs if you wish to eat in. There is also a microwave, kettle and good sized mugs. The bed was comfortable and the linen, towels and toiletries all good. There had been some 'modernisation' of the bathroom but some other parts of the room still require some updating. Overall, an excellent stay and a good base for our night at the Civic Theatre.

The room was perfectly adequate for our one-night stay and just a little more updating in some parts of the room would be good but nothing that detracted from our stay.

Room 1 shower awesome pressure great and hot water, and the bed so comfortable

room didn't warm up even when air con up high. but it was really really cold outside, i had to get the extra blankets out.... but once in bed was fine. car parking couldn't get to my room easy as all car spots full and i had lots of gear to take to the room and had to wait for someone to move before getting park inside.

Location was excellent. The room was neat, clean and comfortable. Beds were good.The parking was a bit cramped and I preferfer designated parking rather than park where you can

The restaurant food was very tasty,however I had to get up 4 times during the night to as my mouth was as dry as anything.This only happens when I have MSG in my food.So if you`re ok with drinking gallons of water during the night then disregard this advice.

Clean tidy good price

Being on the second floor the steps were a little steep for my elderly mother The room was a little small but was comfortable and the price was reasonable so that made up for the room size

Great location being in the centre of town. Great budget for a family. Staff were all nice and friendly.

Being in the centre of town, you had people returning to rooms after a night out and a little loud. The rooms were a little outdated and need a bit of TLC but they were clean and tidy.
