Crystalbrook Albion

We booked this hotel to enjoy 3 nights in Sydney after moving to Australia from the UK, before travelling on to our new home. It was such a fantastic welcome to Australia, especially after 27+ hours of travelling. The staff were incredibly friendly, had great recommendations for things to do during our stay and even dropped off a surprise bottle of fizz in our room for my birthday. The hotel itself is gorgeous, we loved the decor and would take our complimentary tea/coffee and pastries up to the roof terrace every morning. We weren't sure what to expect from Sydney but Surry Hills is a fantastic location with lots of bars/restaurants to enjoy and had a really lively feel. We will definitely want to stay again the next time we visit Syndey.

Funky decor, helpful and engaged staff. Most importantly, we landed at Sydney airport at 8am and went straight to the hotel, who had ensured our room was ready and we could go in early. The perfect welcome! Staff recommendations were very good. Access to the coast, ferries, opera house etc are easy using the 343 bus on Elisabeth Street. Honesty bar works well, recommend getting a drink and taking it to the terrace. Staff also sorted a GP appointment for me, which worked well. We stayed for three nights and will be back if we visit Sydney again. Thanks to the team!

quiet location, well presented, friendly check in, beautifully decorated bathroom.

our “superior king room” was tiny and was not what we’d expected based on the photos. the website stated the room was 30m2, in reality the room was probably only about 12m2 + 6m2 for the bathroom. there was no way the room could sleep 3 people, as advertised. the room looked directly at a wall, was plainly decorated. overall, while the room was fine, it was significantly over priced and we didn’t see how it was reportedly 5 stars.

The hotel had an amazing feel, was very funky, like a New York-style it was modern, easy to navigate around and the staff were amazing. All of them. I am an EA for Woolworths Limited, I look after the General Manager for BIG W X our digital area and I always book my people in here to stay - so I wanted to check it out for myself and was not disappointed it was a very different, funky hotel. Loved it! The night manager I can't recall his name was so accommodating, friendly and professional a true attribute of your company. His customer service skills were exceptional. We stayed there on Thursday the 19th of May.

Nothing - was amazing.

Such lovely staff, everyone I encountered was amazing! Fantastic location, gorgeous rooms (loved the luxurious and stylish robes!), thought the 'honesty bar' was really lovely, just all-around a great experience. I'll definitely book again. The only reason I've not given it 5 stars for value was the lack of room service - but that is a small inconvenience, all things considered, given the location and services like Deliveroo, etc. Perhaps all hotels will end up using out-catering for room service in the future, but in my experience (and opinion), sometimes all you really want is a toasted sandwich and a beer at 11pm from room service - quick, fresh, quality and chargeable to your room! Call me old fashioned. That's the only thing holding me back from 5+ stars all the way - I had a wonderful stay there and will 100% stay there again. Highly recommended (esp. if you BYO late-night toasted sandwiches!!)

Lovely hotel! The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very cosy and the bed super comfortable! In the morning fresh and local pastries will be waiting for you in the mezzanine. There's a Honour Bar where you can make your own cocktails and "happy hour" between 5 to 9pm with delicious Gins. Make sure you check the rooftop. An adorable spot to admire the views over the city :)

The size of the room and how it was decorated and set up. The hotel decoration (Art fantastic) and the facilities generally. Location, staff service and parking arrangements were good too. Great to be able to open the windows. Rooftop area looked lovely. Generally great experience, would stay again.

8 rated instead of 10 as … missed easy access to breakfast served in a communal room in such a beautiful setting but thought the honesty bar etc a great idea and adjacent Rydges facilities for that ok but should be mentioned. Air-con deserves a check over as was noisy and didn’t seem to operate consistent with settings (forgot to mention on checkout). Walls must be pretty thin as heard a guy talking until 2am somewhere close in the hotel (windows were shut).

Having breakfast on the rooftop deck was a highlight, a jewel to look out over the city. The staff took wonderful care of us. The Crystalbook Albion on Lil Albion St. was the perfect location for us to get around all over Sydney. Surry Hills is a delightful location and it made so much walkable. We definitely recommend it and plan to stay there the next time we're in Sydney.

The staff at the Crystalbrook are lovely and went out of their way to help. The bathrobes, tea, coffee facilities and toiletries were to a very high standard. We had a large room on the top floor with a bath, the decor and styling were superb. The entrance to the hotel is very unexpected and the styling and decor are likely something you would find in New York or the UK. The self-service bar and breakfast pastries were a great touch. The location was within walking distance of many cafes and restaurants. I would recommend Shaffa restaurant (which is located right next door) for brunch or dinner and Reuben Hills coffee shop just down the road.

The only downside is the bathroom does not have a door, the shower and toilet are enclosed but we both found the toilet cubicle to be too small with the door close and the frosted glass did not offer much privacy. The roof terrace is very tranquil and charming but the iron chairs and benches are rather uncomfortable to sit on as there are no cushions.

The staff are exceptionally good. In particular the key manager should be commended for welcome hospitality in such a busy weekend. They made all the difference in accommodating my last-minute request and making me feel welcome to work in the common space. The genuine warmth is a rare commodity in the hospitality well these days along with the beautiful design of the hotel generally and the fantastic location this was a wonderful visit and I will be back.

The cozy rooms are small and that’s absolutely fine but the window in room one oh one could perhaps be repainted and ideally a better outlet and to outside but obviously that is hard to change I want you to have some plans or something to give it a slightly nicer outlook. Otherwise the hotel is perfect!
