Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga

Location is outstanding. Urunga is a superb small town in an amazing location and The resort is in a magnificent location on the river. Just gorgeous and peaceful. The Urunga boardwalk- fantastic! Paddle boarding was Devine! Staff were incredible - helpful and friendly. The units were just, Perfect! Well laid out, clean, well equipped. Beds are slightly on the hard side (which I like), if you like a soft bed then bring a topper. Couch was so comfy. Table on the patio was a very nice place to relax. Come winter or summer - you will love your stay!

Nothing. We couldn’t book three consecutive nights in one unit so had a second unit for the third night - the staff could not have been more accomodating and our shift to the second unit was a breeze - plus we then experienced an upper floor unit with its views!

The apartments are in an ideal location, just a 600m walk to the Urunga boardwalk. They are comfortable and well equipped for your stay. There are forty apartments, so only a few of them are facing the river, with the other ones facing part of the golf course, play area or pool. They have ground floor and 1st floor apartments which are accessed via stairs..

We didn't like the way the car park is set out which starts from the entry driveway and continues passed the office and around the back. You have to park in the bay with the number the same as your apartment, but the problem for us was that we had to park well in the back of the car park, and our apartment was up the front right near the office. We parked in an empty car spot while we brought our things in, but if all the spots are taken it is a long way to cart your things to your apartment. They do provide a cart to help carry your things in, but this is not always available when you need it. It would be a good idea to just renumber the parking spaces to correspond with the apartment they are in front of.

The location was great. My husband was happy as he could walk across the road to fish. We were close enough to stroll into town as well as enjoy the board walk out to the headland. The accommodation was clean, spacious as well as private due to the beautifully maintained tropical gardens. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful from when we first enquired about booking to when we left. We had friends with us who stayed in one of the easy access apartments right next door to our 2 bedroom apartment. They were thoroughly pleased with the accommodation. Access in a wheel-chair and walker was made effortless due to the great design of not just the accommodation but all throughout the complex. We are all looking forward to a return trip!

The sheets seemed to be double bed size for a queen bed, which created a tug-of-war between my husband and me. A dishwasher would have been nice but not a necessity. Being asked to mop the bare floors and vacuum carpeted areas before leaving was a bit over the top.

It is a great location. Close to the water and walking distance to town. It has beautiful gardens, a lovely outlook over the river and golf course and a very nice pool area. They provide plenty of cleaning products which is a lot better than most. The units and balconies offer lots of space and have many large windows which let in loads of natural light.

The shower cubicle was a little worn and a broken soap dish had been patched with some type of grey plaster instead of being replaced. We were worried it would break again.

Friendly staff with nothing too much trouble. Good value for money. Good sized rooms. Short walk to the boardwalk and the centre of town. Adjacent to the golf course.

We booked an apartment with a balcony. We had a choice of a view of the golf course or of the river, (as per the photos of the actual rooms). We ended up being given a disabled access room with no balcony, and the view was of the kids trampoline. We will call directly if we stay there again to guarantee what room we have booked.

Large, well appointed and very comfortable. More like a permanent living apartment. Spacious kitchen and meals area leading onto a lovely patio area with views over the gardens. Beautifully kept grounds. The in-unit laundry was an absolute bonus.

For older or mobility impaired people, be aware this is a two level complex. Be sure to ask for a downstairs apartment if this is an issue for you. Parking is available but is not at your door. They do provide trolleys to help with your luggage. The office closes at 4.30pm. You are required to strip the bedclothes at the end of your stay and empty all waste bins. That really spoilt the experience a bit. One other thing to be aware of is the tiles in our bathroom were extremely slippery when wet. The main bedroom only had a queen size bed. I prefer to see King size beds in this price range.

The units are located close to town and the golf course, right on the river. Walking distance to everything!! The playground was great and the units had everything we needed. They were spacious and catered well for our travelling needs, especially our requirement for disability access. We loved it so much we have booked again already!

Not everyone parks in their designated car park.

Landscape around the resort. The pool setting is beautiful despite it being freezing.. The good sized rooms and north facing balcony overlooking the golf course.

There's nothing l didn't like per se. A few suggestions: to fix the obvious leak in the shower as there's some rotting timber because of it. A non stick frying pan would be helpful.

We were fortunate to stay in an upper two-bedroom apartment with a river view, which was delightful (although there are not many of them). The apartment was quiet and spacious and there was a great deal of attention to making sure that it was fully supplied with linen, crockery, cutlery, etc. The washing machine and drier are useful, with a full-size fridge, stove and oven. We enjoyed the family atmosphere of the Complex and the quiet seaside town of Urunga - great for retirees and young families.

The beds and furniture were not "top-of-the-range" - a little saggy and tired - although still adequate. There is only one air-conditioner in the lounge (none in either bedroom) so that may be a little ineffective on a hot Summer's day. (We stayed on cold Winter days, and it was adequate to warm the apartment.) There are a number of signs with strict instructions (which may annoy more free-spirited people), and directions to make up the two single beds on arrival and strip beds of linen on departure or risk an $88 fee - a first for us, although it did not prove to be unduly onerous.

Easy access to the village of Urunga and its fabulous boardwalk. Also very central location from which to take short day trips such as to Nambucca Heads and Dorrigo.

The lounges in the living room are designed for much larger people than us. Their shape is probably dictated by their alternative use as a Queen bed. They needed bolsters as well as the small pillows provided to make them useful and comfortable for us. Fortunately the patio chairs were excellent, like everything else.
