The Ashok, New Delhi

Lots to like. Pleasant and professional staff. Excellent location and food. Fairly well maintained property. There are many conveniences inside the property which is very helpful at times. Very nice breakfast, lots of choices. 100% would stay again and recommend to anyone visiting Delhi.

Could focus more on cleaning what doesn't reach the eye. I dropped something on the floor and it rolled under the bed. I wish it hadn't happened. What I saw was horrific. It was so dusty, there was one disposable bathroom slipper, couple of empty soda bottles, and receipts and such. It's understandably a difficult place to clean, but ignoring it altogether isn't the way to go.

I loved everything about the stay except the room service was knocking on our door couple times a day. Breakfast was fantastic! I loved how the staff treated us and greeted us every time they saw us. It was really a wonderful stay.

First, the key cards kept getting de-magnetized and it was such a hassle having to go to the front desk everytime we come back to the hotel to get it magnetized again. They need to get their system working properly or get a new system honestly. Also, the room service folks is too good at their job(?) - they would knock at our door couple times a day sometimes even after it was serviced, and they would call our room at random times which really startled us, just to see if we're alive! (Maybe I haven't stayed in enough hotels in South Asia because this never happens in hotels in North America) Also, they only gave us ONE key card until we asked for another one, even though there were two people staying in the room.

I was very sceptical to book this hotel because of the low rating and bad reviews they've got. I took the risk and it paid off. We had a really good time in the Ashok. Room was big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. We loved the location- away from the noise and traffic- we could truly relax in peace. Staff at check in at check out were very polite. Also massive thanks to the manager who was trying to help me when my husband was sick and needed a doctor.

Even though there seems to be a lot of staff in the restaurants, the service is slow. They need to be more efficient.

Very convenient location. All staff senior or junior were very courteous and helpful. Kamlesh at Reservations was particularly very helpful . Breakfast was very good , again all staff in the restaurant was ready to go out of the way to get you anything you wanted. Food in all restaurants is very good. Food in restaurant Oouddh was excellent. Air conditioning was very good and so was hot water in the bathroom. we were a party of 14 and had booked 7 executive suites and they were fairly big and comfortable.overall experience 5star. we have stayed many times and will stay again.

children under 12 were not allowed in the swimming pool. We were very disappointed with that. couldn’t find the reason why they couldn’t swim with their parents.

The location is excellent and highly secure. The room is large enough with a writing table, a king-size bed, a shower, and space for bags and clothes. Hot water is available all the time and the room is fully air-conditioned. Authentic Indian buffet is available and delicious. We enjoyed the food well. It's a variety every day and not the same food repeated daily. The coffee shop restaurant is open 24 hours. The staff is very helpful.

The free wifi is poor in speed (less than 1 Mbps). Recommend obtaining mobile SIM internet to manage online needs. Wi-Fi is basically useless.

Everything is awesome. Ambience was splendid and outstanding. Front office team is excellent. Breakfast was also very nice except few. Dosas were yummy. Fruits Salad was not that great. Iddly was bad. Vada was perfect along with Sambar! Paranthas were mouth watering!

Requesting to pay money for 15% discount on Food and Beverages. There are hotels in Ashok which don't comply with these discounts. you have to be careful and ask the hotel you are entering about whether this belongs to THE ASHOK? Else you will end up paying surprising bills.

I like the staff, the hotel lobby. The room is good. The bathroom is bad. Did not expect from 5 star hotel.The food is worst.

Bathrooms are not up to marks. Water leaks from the shower. The commode is pretty bad. Not cleaned well. Did not request a change since we were tired already. Coming to food, it's the worst. Vegetable pulov has no salt at all. The curd is worst. They charged 450rs per bowl of curd. We did complain, but no action was taken. We ate the food ultimately since it was 10 pm and we were hungry. Worst food experience. They charged me high but no value for money.

The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfy. The sofa and the table, chair in the room were very nice as well. The breakfast spread was very nice each day. Stayed for a total of 2 days. Very courteous staff at the reception, during breakfast, as well as when just walking around the hotel. Always greeting, smiling. Felt very welcome. The location fo the hotel was very convenient, as we had work at the nearby embassy.

Great location if you’re coming to Delhi for Embassy related reasons. All the embassies are walking distance and it’s quite comfortable. The hotel, although old, is maintained well. Perfect for a short stay.

The housekeeping staff are a bit persistent. They turned up at my room without me having called them with a poor excuse to “restock” items. (These items were already in the room) and they hung around for a bit awkwardly - I think expecting a tip. For a hotel such as this, I found this behaviour a bit irritating. Also housekeeping staff should turn up only when called for. This made me feel slightly unsafe at the hotel. If I was travelling alone, I would not come here.

Some of the electrical points in my room 1306 was not functioning, eg same plug point was used for both TV and electrical kettle. TV handset was not user convenient for handling. Hand set for bath is necessary. Shower above is not good enough.

Ambience, a lot of space around, and almost all amenities available.
