The check-in staff was wonderful. We arrived early and they were happy to stow our luggage while we wandered Dublin. They went out of their way to try to get the room ready for us early and though unsuccessful, we appreciated their effort. The breakfast is two options - continental offered in the upstairs restaurant and full service Irish breakfast downstairs. The Irish breakfast is HUGE and delicious. They offer live music Friday evening and we were able to enjoy a pint of Guinness and enjoy the singer who was quite good. The location is perfect! We were able to walk down the steps and catch cabs almost immediately or just stroll a few minutes to be in the thick of things on O'Connell Street. *** Please note if you are a wheelchair user, ask about elevators. The only one we saw and used a few times would not accommodate a wheelchair. We didn't need the access but it's something we notice as we travel with older family members. There are a number of stairs required to get to many of the rooms, restaurants within the hotel and out the front.

It would have been nice to be able to adjust the temperatures in our room but that seems to be under general control of the property. There are a few chairs in the lobby area (beige) that really need replacing as they're visibly dirty and really worn. Other than those few quibbles, everything else was great.

Lovely hotel, full of character, with friendly staff (bar, breakfast room) and comfortable rooms. The location is ideal. City bus 16 takes your straight to the airport, O'Connell Street is literally down the road. But most of all, the thick carpets, the cosy furniture, the general cleanliness.

The staff behind the reception desk should look up at times and smile or greet or make contact with clients as they go by. There is a stark contrast between the waiters and waitresses, who are extremely kind and welcoming, and the generally cold and indifferent desk people, who are glued to their screens and do not make you feel at home or in any way welcome you, past the moment you check in. The hospitality industry is about being hospitable and they are not. Since everything else is brilliant, this attitude is a real blot on an otherwise beautiful picture. Please make an effort.

Beautiful hotel with lovely sitting rooms & great restaurants, really homey feeling! Friendly staff & a complete and pretty room. The tea room right next to the hotel was also wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay!

The water pressure for the shower was very minimal and when I wanted to take a bath, the water from the taps was a brownish-yellow color. Needless to say, we didn’t end up using the bathtub.

- friendly and helpful staff - excellent location, very convenient to explore the city - very good breakfast

- single room was a bit small (stayed for 11 nights!) and the view was slightly depressing (facing a wall in the inner yard). BTW: Quite a few noises and fumes from the backyard (kitchen and delivery services), However, upper floors might not be affected by that. I was on the first floor. - rates vary a lot depending on the date of your stay. My cheapest night was 74 Euro and my dearest 169 Euro - and that for the same room! Ok, it was St. Paddy's Day weekend but nearly 100 Euro extra charge!?

The staff were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Location was an easy walk to stores, restaurants and tours. Food was excellent-seafood chowder best I’ve ever had! Breakfast was terrific, especially loved the upstairs continental. All living and dining rooms were spectacular- decorated in antiques, we played cards in one room and had a great time. Rooms were clean, clean! That crew was great.

I choose a room on an inside courtyard with some parking below. It was quieter with no street noise as the hotel is on a busy downtown corner. There was much noise, one morning, at 6:30am as many, many metal beer barrels were dragged and rolled across the stone courtyard for 1/2 hour. Room itself needed a refresh curtains hanging, wallpaper unstuck in one place, bathroom old, but loved having a bathtub. This didn’t affect our stay. My sister had an updated room below, it was great. The hotel is very old which gives it great charm.

The property was very clean and easy to navigate. It was very cute with decor and furniture to really resemble an old Victorian style home. I also enjoyed the option of two breakfasts - a buffet style breakfast with continental food items and a sit down breakfast with more hot foods available. I travelled solo and I had several day tours where I had to leave before breakfast started. I let reception know and they made sure to have a take away breakfast ready for me to go with for the day which was a nice perk! Staff were extremely friendly as well and I felt extremely safe. It’s close enough to walk to everything, but far enough from the main city center with all the noise. It was quiet at night and I had no issues sleeping.

The location was central right near bus stops into the centre and only a 6 minute walk from/to the Aircoach stop back to the airport. Staff were very helpful and the rooms were clean. The period features were lovely and the cooked breakfast was really nice . As a solo traveller I felt safe. It was also really quiet at night even though it had 2 restaurants attached below you would never know noisewise(I was on the first floor). There was free Wi-Fi, usb ports water, tea and coffee in the room with and it had a lift to get your cases to the room.

There was no fridge or safe in the room. The 2 restaurants were lovely but after 2 days I was told you had to go to the 1 downstairs for the cooked breakfast-my knees are not great especially in the morning, I would have preferred to remain in the upstairs restaurant all week. Although not included in the price, the restaurant downstairs didn’t have much choice for vegetarians if you wanted you evening meal there.

The breakfast was plentiful, had everything you would want to be included in the ‘full Irish’ Some of my party requested versions of breakfasts not mentioned in the menu (eg poached eggs on toast) - all catered for without fuss. Our twin room was clean, modern en-suite - all supplies of toiletries, tea, coffee etc were replaced daily during our 3 night stay. Reception was always well staffed and friendly. They were particularly helpful to me when one of my party was suffering with a dental emergency- their local knowledge and intervention proved to be crucial in getting us sorted with an urgent appointment with a local practice. Excellent service.

The reception staff were really very nice and endeavoured to fulfil every wish. The room was large enough and we felt very comfortable in the hotel overall with the old colourful sofas and the stucco.

I may be slightly spoilt, but at a 4 star hotel I expect a hairdryer in the room (without asking for it) and also a larger selection at the breakfast buffet (linseed, sunflower seeds for muesli etc.). My bed was extremely hard and I had asked for a topper or two blankets that I could fold to make the surface a little softer. One blanket arrived and it was draped again every day as an extra cover. By the end of my stay I had severe back pain.

The hotel has the appearance of being quite old, with an interesting decoration. First of all, I would like to highlight the location. It is located a few metres from the main street of Dublin, and just 10 minutes walk from the spire monument, in the heart of the city centre. From here (or very close) most of the walking tours, excursions and buses to Belfast depart. I would also like to emphasize the friendliness of the reception staff; they were always very friendly and willing to help guests with anything they needed. The breakfast is not super varied and complete, but it is correct. It also has different options: typical Irish (ideal for clogging arteries, heh), vegetarian, continental. On weekends there are live Irish (and other styles of) music shows, which I found quite entertaining. One positive detail is that the room had an electric water heater, as well as coffee, tea, milk, sugar. The internet connection is good and with adequate speed.

While the overall experience was positive, there were two things I did not like. On the one hand, the floors of the room creaked a lot when walking, making an annoying noise (as you could hear the sound from the neighbouring rooms). On the other hand, the sound insulation of the room walls was not adequate. Conversations could be heard from the other rooms, but what annoyed me the most was having to listen to the snoring of my "neighbour". I mean, you would expect this kind of discomfort in a shared room, but not when you pay the price of a single hotel room. I have no regrets about choosing this place to stay in Dublin; but I think it would be advisable for the management to take action to improve these aspects, as I understand it would greatly improve the guest experience.
