Hotel Torifito Otaru Canal

Central location… close to the Main Street and attractions. All the staff were very friendly especially the receptionist who offered to bring our bags up to the room once it was ready as we arrived early and could not check in yet. He was very friendly and helpful and helped us order a taxi when we checked out and even came out to tell him where to go. The family room was comfortable and Breakfast had an excellent spread. The onsen was an added bonus after a long day out.

Nothing. Maybe if you want to add to the 5 star service, moisturiser and body lotion can be provided as part of the toiletries provided and in the onsen.

The staff were extremely attentive, polite, efficient, friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located to the Canal and within close proximity to restaurants and tourist facilities. It is also an easy walk from the station. The rooms were very comfortable and well maintained. They are also spacious enough for a short stay with comfortable beds ensuring a good night sleep.

Because of its position one street back from the canal (through no fault of its own) - the view from the room was not very pleasant - but this is not something that the hotel can address. It is not something that detracted from the many other positive aspects that this hotel has to offer.

check in check out is great staff is efficient attentive, the room is just right for 3 . we dint take the breakfast in hotel as we wanted to try local eateries.. onsen is indoors and instructions are clear . location is great 5 min to the canal , 8 min to the shopping street, 10 min to JR station. area is safe and staff helped us book a sushi place that was needed reservation. room was arm, toilet is clean and modern. no complaints .great hotel

carpark is payable but its just across the road about $11 sgd. there is an alternative carpark 9 dollars just further down the road.

Check in staff - a lady was rude to us and shouted at us. We booked 2 rooms for 4 person, obviously was for 2 person per room. She insisted that 1 room was for 3 pax and the other room for 1 pax! I handed over my bookings paper to her, she then check on her computer and proceeded to do the rooms keys for us. During the whole check process, she did not put on a smile nor greet us and even showed us a displeased face, she did not even say thank you at all! Upon making credit card payment, she asked me to remove the card myself in a very rude tone! This is the first Japaneses I met during my 11 days holiday in Japan with such bad attitude and no manners at all.

Check in staff could have been more friendly rather than showing a displeased face. I have the bookings in black and white that stated clearly per room is for 2 pax. She could have checked properly before shouting at us.

The bed was really comfortable and made for a great night's sleep. The hotel's location was quite good. A bit of a walk from the JR station, but doable in great weather. It was also a quick walk to Sakaimachi Street and other attractions around the canal, which was great! There was also a nearby Family Mart so that was convenient.

The room and the toilet had a dank smell that didn't really go away even after we opened the windows to air the room or used the in-room provided air freshener. It wasn't too offensive, we got used to it after a while, but was still very present the moment we stepped in. There wasn't a lot of floor space to open our luggages either, but it wasn't too bad.

clean. good breakfast. excellent service from the staff. Originally we plan to stay in Otaru for a day and we were staying in another hotel. Due to a family crisis, we had to extend our stay by another 2 days. The ladies at the front office were very helpful in helping me change the dates of my booking as I entered an incorrect date. she also helped me to notify booking.com to refund the cancellation charges. They also tried to help to call ANA to change our flights though we end up making a trip to the airport to try and change as we could not get through despite calling for hours.

Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Parking was very well organised and staff parked my car when I left for a restaurant so I didn't have to wait. Indoor smoking area was nice as a smoker, didn't have to venture outside to smoke, got to stay walm inside.

The onsen was smaller than expected but still relaxing and very quiet. Breakfast was optional but 2200 yen per person seemed expensive since it was just an open buffet, but still nice nonetheless.

Modern-style hotel with comfortable tones. A comfortable stay in very central Otaru just a few minutes walk to the canal. The room is standard Japanese size with an elegant style. The breakfast was above average with tasty rice. The staff was very helpful.

Not enough space for opening suitcases. The Japanese-style bed might not be good for elder people. The parking space was limited so we had to park our car in another car park across the street.

Newer property in a great location. Staff is very friendly and helpful- they made dinner reservations for us (highly recommended that you do this to avoid wandering in search of an opening). Nice room, highly efficient AC, laundry, parking (for a fee but in & out privileges as needed).

Breakfast wasn’t our favorite compared to buffets we’ve experienced so far during the trip. Onsen is a single/large bath which was fine but we’ve gotten used to accommodations with more options.

Large room, with a nice atmosphere. The room was very quiet and beds were super comfortable. Bonus was the public bath with a nice hot pool and lovely Japanese style shower room.

I forgot a pair of earbuds in the room which were stolen. This is not what I expect in Japan as honesty is normally very high so I disappointed to learn that they could not be retrieved even though I discovered it the same day and staff was responding to my requests.
