Casa Lum

The hotel itself is amazing. A beautiful old building in the middle of the historic center of San Cristobal de las Casas, gorgeously decorated and with super friendly staff that will make any effort for you to make you comfortable. The hotel actually boasts a very nice cute restaurant, in our opinion one of the better in town. The rooms are spatious with very comfortable beds and a proper bathroom with shower with pressure. Everything perfect from the first to the last detail :)

San Cristobal de las Casas is becoming more and more touristic. This results in more and more rooftopbars being opened, playing loud music until (officially 12 in the night), but sometimes much longer. It is not the fault of the hotel, but we did hear this in the room some of the nights. Luckily we had earplugs, otherwise we would have been a bit annoyed. Again, this is not fault of the hotel and a general issue in Mexico. Due to corruption, these restaurant owners get away with this kind of thing.

Good location in the old town. Private parking one block away (someone from the reception has to walk with you to open the gate). We had a room in the little courtyard, it was very quiet. Morning coffee delivered to the room was a very nice feature! Okay breakfast (also possible to order extra things from the menu).

Nothing really

The kindness and efficiency of the staff, food and location were outstanding. The room was quiet, charming and comfortable. The robes were a great addition as it is chilly in SCLC.

Each room is unique. Ours needed a small space or shelf for toiletries and one more surge-protected electric plug-in for charging devices. With 2 phones and a camera battery, it’s tricky using just one.

Casa Lum was among the best hotels we stayed at during our 3-week roadtrip in Central and Southeast Mexico (if not THE best!). Charming, clean and beautifully decorated rooms, with textiles and elements representing regional crafts (with thorough explanations included). Our room had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard, a lovely view to take in while enjoying the complimentary Chiapaneco coffee provided each morning (much appreciated!). Excellent shower with good pressure and constant supply of hot water, and top-quality toiletries. Very comfortable double size bed, with great linens. We loved the eco-friendly philosophy of the hotel (no daily plastic water bottle waste, no plastic bags used in the garbage bins -paper bags were used instead-), as well as its fair-trade policy regarding local artisans. The heating in the floor was greatly appreciated, and necessary for the chilly San Cristóbal winter nights. Breakfast options are varied, delicious and good value for money. Staff was very friendly and always willing to help out and respond to our questions and enquiries. Location is excellent, a pedestrian street that is always very well-lit (safe!), with many shopping and dining options available, yet once in the hotel, it is very silent and calm. All in all, a 10/10 stay and a place I would return again!

Everything was great!

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful and tasteful interiors. Locally woven fabrics and artefacts incorporated in the interior design to great effect. Atmospheric lighting. Attention to detail.

Cannot fault this lovely little hotel.

Casa lum is located in center of historic district. We liked having an excellent restaurant on premises. We liked extra touches- coffee at our door in am. Excellent help from desk. Really lovely room

Very few people spoke English- true for San Cristobal

Very central location but perfecty quiet. Charming property with lovely restaurant and helpful staff. Coffee delivered to your room in the morning was a nice touch

Our room was a little small and a bit stuffy but there were larger suites available.

The staff was extremely helpful and made us feel at home. They anticipated all our needs and fulfilled all our whims and wishes. We are vegans, and we had vegan breakfast prepared for us -- often with the ingredients the chef brought from her own garden. Amazing. Very nice "boutique"-quality rooms. The location is superb -- the best part of town. Overall, a great place to be.

Location.

Our room was dark, no direct sunlight. A few functional items could have been better (door construction, light switches, more electric wall plugs, a small, extra table inside (we had to bring the patio table inside to work on our laptops), intermittent wifi, etc.

Location was fantastic. The staff were amazing. They helped us get a taxi to go to bus station. Definitely would return
