Hotel Casa Mexicana

Miguel and Elton at the reception were fantastic. Miguel helped us booking some tours around the area (Palenque and Canon del Sumidero) and was always ready to answer our questions. Sonia took care of the breakfast buffet, and was really kind and helpful with our requests of additional guacamole. She and Rey make a great team. Finally, Felipe and Mateo, the bellmen, were attentive and kind. The people working in Casa Mexicana made sure our stay was one to remember.

The first 3 nights we kept being woken up by an engine of some kind. It was the hotel’s water pump, which kicks in every 2 minutes. We asked for a new room, and the disturbance disappeared.

the room was a good size with a comfortable king bed. I stayed in the extension across the street with the grass courtyard and felt safe and cozy as a solo traveler. it was quiet and the room seemed to sound proof street noise so it was very minimal and distant. easy walk to interesting places. fantastic wifi. front desk was extremely helpful in accommodating a last minute reservation, helping me carry my bags, exchange the heater, and patient with addressing my questions as I’m not yet conversational in Spanish.

The location of this hotel is perfect. Centrally located and the hotel itself is very charming. The rooms (most of them) face inwards toward a very nice courtyard. The restaurant located in the hotel was very good and a pretty good value swell.

The room was not equipped with air conditioning. This was not really and issue since it wasn't hot when I visited. I could open the window to try and get a draft going but the courtyard was covered... kinda like a greenhouse. It allowed for light to enter but no wind or draft. Not a problem but an AC would've been nice.

I did like the center garden of the hotel, its a nice building, Location is great, Ive stay in ah lot of hotels in San Cristobal and in my expierince this the best price/value one. Although the showers needs a bit of a renewal

If you ever come to San Cristobal de Las Casas, I highly recommend staying at the Casa Mexicana Hotel. This place has the old world charm of Mexico, that Spanish colonial feel mixed with local Mayan flavor. There is beautiful artwork on almost every wall you turn to... beautiful artwork I might add, it’s like being in a Museum. The service is wonderful. The staff is warm, kind, helpful and so friendly. This is definitely my home any time I ever come to visit again. AND it’s very affordable! Also, the bed is SO cozy! And they have great wifi internet (most important if you are working online!) The restaurant has great local cuisine. As well, there is a great cafe just across the street that opens at 8am. Ask for help with getting a tour or just getting around town. Definitely take advantage of your Spanish, you’re gonna need it! Special thanks to the “Los Tres Carleseros” (they know who they are)... jajaja

The location for Hotel Casa Mexicana is ideal it’s in close proximity of the Zocalo the main town square and not far from great shopping and dinning areas. The hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating my family and I arrived way before our check-in time and our rooms were clean and ready to go. The decor and atmosphere in the hotel is also very nice. We got a massage and ate at the hotel restaurant and they were both nice experiences. Definitely would be staying here again when visiting San Cristobal again.

Wonderful staff, great location, pretty property

The advertised balcony was a window. The lookout over a garden were restaurant tables. Luckily that part of the restaurant (located in a courtyard garden) was never occupied. Missed having natural daylight.

I really liked the location of the hotel is close to the city center and all the hotel have a beautiful garden inside.

the rooms that do not have a view are closed and smell musty but the rooms that have a view of the garden are fine, I did not like the bathroom either, it is very small

Located about 5 blocks from the center square, easy walking to all sites in San Cristobal; well maintained property, very clean room, comfortable bed, good quality bed sheets, hot and cold water in the lobby area, a heater in the room.

Bath towels are worn out, bathroom lacks ventilation
