My stay was really fantastic. The room I booked was above my expectations, comfortable, big, beautifully designed and well taken care of. The food was a very positive surprise, not only the breakfast (included), but lunch, dinner and drinks. I also had a great experience with the staff. Brenda at the reception was always willing to accommodate and demonstrated great flexibility, which is a great plus. Same for the kitchen staff and the cleaning staff.

One aspect that bothered me quite a lot was how oblivious two of the reception staff - two young men - were. Always on their phone - I arrived twice and they didn't even realize there was a guest arriving - , gave me inaccurate information, and were not willing to help me with luggage, even if I was visibly pregnant and the bag was heavy. Other than that the stay was perfect.

Adorable little hotel. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. Refreshingly cool (but not too cold) pool. Just a short walk from the center. We stayed in a room with a little balcony overlooking the cute restaurant.

I hesitate to say this is a negative because the cooks clearly take time to individually prepare a tasty and nicely presented breakfast - but guests should be aware for planning purposes that breakfast can take awhile. If you have an excursion or other activity that requires you to be ready before 8:45 or 9, you may want to request a breakfast box.

Everything, from the moment we walked in, it was gorgeous, like a little Oasis. The bar and restaurant were stunning and the pool area beautiful. The rooms lovely with a huge bed and plenty of space. the staff were so accommodating and friendly and the food was an absolute highlight - some of the best we had…try the house enchiladas! It’s about a 15 minute walk from the centre so not far at all.

There was a bit of noise from the road in a morning and the shower was a bit temperamental but honestly we loved it so much that we didn’t care!

agree with prior reviews, the breakfast was PHENOMENAL. It is connected to a restaurant called Mixtú, where you order a wide variety of Oaxaca dishes that are plentiful portions, so delicious, and tremendous waitstaff. I had a nut allergy which they understood and accommodated well! The hotel itself is cozy and has a small pool for lounging. Our bed was comfortable. Front desk staff was responsive, thoughtful, and helped arranged taxi ride to airport. Neighborhood felt safe walking home at night. Close to ATM, pharmacy, and convenience store if needed.

Unfortunately, we had room #1 which was right closest to street. Noise level was pretty loud until 10-11 p at night. The shower also tended to flood the bathroom floor since was not enclosed at all sides. Distance is about 15-20 min walk to Centro (could be near or far depending on your expectations)

The hotel is very artsy, great design in general, solidly taking advantage of an old property and reinventing it.

The room we got felt somewhat tight and enclosed (no windows to the exterior); we did have a little balcony with a hammock, but it didn’t invite you to spend time there as the space was all covered by an acrylic dome, and a wooden lattice that viewed directly above the bar/kitchen, so it smelled like food all the time; we had to keep our balcony door shut all the time.

The design put into this property was beautiful! The bar and second level restaurant was gorgeous, and the free gourmet breakfast was bar none the best I had at any hotel.

soo…its a little noisy here. My room had a window that opened right above the restaurant and bar, which was cool and eccentric, but I did wake up to the coffee grinders! It does all shut down at around 10, so I had no trouble falling asleep. But if you’re a quiet person that values a lot of silence, this may not be the best fit.

This hotel is an absolute gem. Stayed for nearly a week. The beds were super comfortable, linens were cotton, the rooms were nicely laid out, the pool is deliciously cold (you'll be glad - Oaxaca is hot) and the restaurant is exceptional -- but what really set it apart was the best service I've ever had in a hotel, period. (Dull brag, but I've stayed in hundreds.) Every single person who works here is kind, thoughtful, and obviously so happy to be running this place with their friends; it was so fun to be around them, and to never feel like we were bothering anyone or asking for too much. Our favorite member of the bar staff, Lizbet, even works there *as a hobby* - she has a professional day job but thinks the place is a good time. The clubhouse vibe is in everyone's attitude - they like being at Casa de Arte, and that makes such an enormous difference. As so many other reviews have mentioned, it's also the most generous and inventive included hotel breakfast I've ever seen. Honestly, so much to praise here. The housekeeping was perfect. They changed our linens and towels and did some light tidying, but were otherwise unobtrusive and really respectful of our space and things. We booked Mandimbo and Ocote - labeled on Booking.com as "Deluxe Double Room with Bath" and "Deluxe Double Room with balcony," respectively - and while Ocote faces the street, Oaxaca gets super quiet at night so it never bothered us, especially with the fan on. Mandimbo is on the pool but our friends felt it was sufficiently private. I don't love to lean on hyperbole but in this case nothing else will do. Casa de Arte is a genuinely special and unique boutique hotel, and the value is exceptional. Stay there!

Excellent value, super clean, nice-smelling and comfortable rooms. The bathroom had continuously self-refreshing air-freshener which as a couple we really appreciated. We had a room with hammock which was appreciated. Nice amenities and thoughtful touches - I’d say more than the usual - with extensive choice for filling included breakfast and all day options for good food and cocktails at reasonable prices. Fridge, unlimited purified water, ice cold a/c and being able to phone from room for room service were appreciated - the latter not being common in a small boutique hotel. About a 15 minute easy (straight) walk or 5 minute/50 peso DiDi to historic center which some people complain about - but to me this makes no sense since it is something you can see clearly before booking and brings the price down a lot - a hotel of this quality in the historic center would be at least 50% - 100% more. It’s also across the street from an amazing local seafood place and a block from a small but nice mall and the only Starbucks in town (If you are in to that sort of thing while in Mexico). Pool area was small but cute and refreshing and never got crowded. Also very instagram friendly. Great staff as well, always friendly and can help organize transport and tours.

Kitchen could sometimes be a bit slow, not the server's fault.

This is a chic, well-designed, boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The onsite restaurant is quite good as well.

The property is on a high-traffic street, so it does get noisy. However, they provide ear plugs in the rooms and shutting the bathroom door also shut out the street noise. The hot water was initially unreliable but after talking to the front desk they fixed that for us.

Getting the Breakfast add-on is a must. Huge selection of fantastic meals with a wide variety of flavors and textures from Oaxaca. That plus the fresh fruit and coffee was fantastic!

Room itself had a couple spots on walls where paint was peeling but that's pretty normal for mexico. Overall would absolutely stay here again.
