Posada Don Mario

We enjoyed the friendliness and attentive staff. Our room was small, but clean and comfortable. The roof top seating area offered a spacious location to unwind after a day of touring. The location was within walking distance to many restaurants and coffee shops as well as many of the historic and cultural sites of Oaxaca. It was a good value for the money.

The bathroom smelled like moth balls and the breakfast coffee was a bit weak.

A real traditional Mexican hotel, lovely colours and Mexican furniture and crockery and fittings. Cool downstairs courtyard and a terrace on the top level with a great view of the mountains. The location is a little walk from the main square and uphill on the way back so a good bit of exercise. Continental breakfast quite basic but did the job.

Although the room (with the little balcony) was beautifully done, it and the bathroom were a bit too small for me. Also I only had warm water during the stay.

Very chill atmosphere, not too many rooms, great view of the mountains, lots of outdoor areas, 10/10 location!!!!!, i could live there. I loved waking up for sunrise on the terrace and having a coffee from one of the many espresso stands in the amazing park minutes to the east- what a pleasure. I cannot wait to return. Highly recommend Don Mario.

A little echo in the courtyard from birds and things at sunrise but you should bring earplugs traveling anyway if you are a light sleeper, no bad qualities here it is great!

great location, sweet rooftop room with morning sun & patio with tables, chairs & porch swing…wonderful spot for morning & evening.

occasional sewer smell, but cleaning crew took care of it. staircase to rooftop rooms is spiral, small & steep (not good for people with walking/climbing issues) but all of our group 71-79 were fine with it.

When I took a shower the water was always luke warm to cold.This was only difficult because the mornings were so cold.

The free breakfast was great, the little rooftop deck was so nice.

For people with accessibility issues it might be a challenge to stay above the first floor but they had nice rooms on the ground floor too!

Posada Don Mario is an inexpensive place to stay in a good location. Breakfast was very good. Rooms are a little rustic but i just wanted a bed to sleep in. Bathroom was clean and had a good shower. All in all it was very good for the price. The owner and staff were very good.

A luggage stand for my suitcase would have been good. The beds could use updating but were comfortable.

Friendly and helpful staff. Colourful, cheerful rooms and surroundings. Continental breakfast includes cornflakes, fresh fruit, toast and jam. Coffee and a range of herbal teas. Easy walking distance (10 mins) to historic centre.

All rooms have single beds which are joined to make a double bed. Shared bathrooms are clean.

This guest house was basic, but charming and quiet. The location was really nice and the staff were great as well.

Shower water pressure was not the best and there were some ants crawling around in the shower, otherwise everything was very comfortable.

Very good location! Walking distanse from the main sightseeings. Very helpful stuff, that gives you information about everything! Another helpful thing is that you can book on-line all excursions with the hotel, it’s very convenient, especially when you arrive late and and don’t have much time in the city. Breakfast is very good with variety of local dishes. My room was on the upper floor, with a nice terrace and kinda roof top, where it was I could have some tan 🙂
