Casona Sforza

- outstanding and unique architecture, open spaces and proximity to the pacific - rooms were spacious and the hotel size means it is quite intimate and you don’t have to fight for long chairs at the pool

- the design of the room (arcades) amplifies the surrounding noises especially as the front and back walls are wooden and don’t isolate any sounds - the hotel is quite remote with a very bumpy road. Next restaurants are 15-20 minutes by taxi - the staff was very nice and friendly but they didn’t match the standards we expected for this price

Breathtaking. The design and architecture of Casona Sforza is incredible. As soon as we arrived onto the parking lot, we were completely overwhelmed by the tranquility and beauty of the space. Located on the beach, the location is remote and away from the crowds and buzz of Puerto Escondido (and from my understanding, it's a short drive or taxi to those areas if you want). Casona Sforza is one of the most beautiful properties we have experienced in the world. We stayed three nights and never left the property so we could engage, interact and experience with the property. Why would you want to leave? The complimentary continental breakfast was extremely fresh and the lunch and dinner options were fantastic. We stuck to the seafood and mexican options. We highly recommend the ceviche, shrimp tostadas, and caprese salad. The premises and facilities are wonderful. The pool is lovely and we spent our days lazing by the pool. Unfortunately, the ocean is off limits for swimming due the strong waves and currents. The hotel also offers tours, in-room massages and I heard something about a yoga class (we didn't participate in any of them). The A/C and the fan in the room was more than adequate, and keep the room cool and comfortable at night. For those who are digital nomads, the WIFI was spotty. But we were able to stream movies during the evening. We expected to encounter connectivity issues, having done our research prior. Staff were extremely welcoming, professional and always delivered a very high level of customer service. We had no problems getting what we needed. Insider tip - For those that want to engage with the space, Casona Sforza offers day passes so visitors can enjoy the facilities and restaurant/bar. Highly recommended and would definitely stay at Casona Sforza again.

It was architecturally stunning, the food was delicious, and we had exceptional service. The near-empty beach was amazing for walking and watching the sunsets. From check-in to check-out, the staff was friendly, discreet, and professional. I am an architect and appreciated all the details and the thoughtfulness that went into the design of the hotel, amenities, music, furnishings, etc. Although it was hot during the day, we never used the AC due to the wonderful cross-breezes and we slept wonderfully every night. Honestly, we were underwhelmed by the local beaches in PE and were grateful to return to the hotel and relax/enjoy the quiet, privacy, and beautiful surroundings.

The hotel's car and tour services (into town/beaches, airport, turtle release, etc.) were more expensive but when we used a local cab (about half the cost) to return to the hotel, they got lost... The location is difficult to find, but that remoteness was also what was appealing.

The location and seclusion on the beach. Not too far from town. Staff were great, the food and drinks exceptional. The landscaping and pool area, architecture and layout is very relaxing

The access in and out of the property is a little challenging, the road is not developed, so its a very slow process. The room was nicely laid out, however the bed was not very comfortable. Too soft and uneven

Beautiful architecture and design, relaxed atmosphere and amazing service by the staff. They will bring you food/drinks to wherever you are on the property, which was great. They offer some tours but we did not have time to go on any of them unfortunately.

Our experience was great overall but we did think the food was lacking. We were expecting it to be a lot better. Also, the mosquitos. Not on the hotel per say but definitely put on the bug spray they provide.

The staff was amazing and so welcoming ! The facilities amazing and a very tranquil place to come and relax . The room was enjoyable with a great sea view. Great service and everyone has a great vibe. Very safe which is value to be very important and of the safety protocols of covid where followed !

The food was okay, not the best I’ve had. Definitely an area of improvement, the seasoning was blant. I believe if they coach the chef or his/her assistants could be much better. WiFi !!!! If you come here to mix vacation and work remote, it truly won’t work

everything was perfect. from the room to the staff, to the entire property. My partner is not one to splurge on hotels, but he would come to Casona time and time again he said after our stay!

everything was pretty amazing, for the sake of how to make it an even greater experience I guess my only feed back…would be, some lounge chairs around the pool would really add to the property. giving guest the option to sun bathing around the pool.

The architecture is beautiful, the hotel is intimate and has great vibes. The staff is awesome and attentive. Also the food is fantastic!

Only 2 minor complaints, the beach is beautiful but you can’t really swim in it because the current is known for being very strong and designed for intense surfing. Other complaint is the doors in the rooms have a mesh screen so no bugs get in but air still flows in/out so even with the ac it gets kinda hot.

I loved the hotel, and location, pretty isolated from the rest of the Puerto Escondido, very comfortable, and beautiful beach location. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.

The hotel is pretty new, and the reservation/check-in/check-out flow is not completely automated/seamless yet, so you still need to be very proactive about it, but I guess that that aspect will be polished in the near future. The wifi was not great although that's not the hotel's fault, and we even heard that it was way worse in other parts of Puerto Escondido. Just letting you know, in case you are traveling as a digital nomad, like my boyfriend and I.
