Hotel 5 de Mayo

The hotel is perfectly located between downtown, the forts' park and around the corner from a very colorful neighborhood. The facilities are great: very comfortable, clean, and you can park your car right below your own room. Breakfast is traditional Mexican and it's very good. Swimming pool was small but very well maintained and water was hot and cozy. All in all, a great place to be!

The air conditioner failed the first night and it seemed to need a mayor rebuild, so it was not fixed during our stay. We also experienced some lower than usual hot water temperature, but, it was fixed right away.

Staff was friendly and helpful with directions to get places, find restaurants and getting taxis. Rooms large, clean, and quiet. We had a king size room and had private entrance and private parking. Huge plus since other hotels have little to no parking. Pool was small but clean and my son enjoyed it. Breakfast was terrific. Good location near downtown and near historic parks.

TV reception was poor with limited channels and many were fuzzy. Wifi reception not good. Neither were an issue really for us but for some people this might be a huge problem.

Room was large. Staff was extremely friendly. Breakfast was generous with servings of fruit, pan, pan dulces, and choices of egg.

Bathroom setup was a bit awkward. Bathroom was open concept area with sink area in center and closet with door to right (which was fine) for toilet but shower stall to the left did not feel private enough. Although it had a frosted door you either dressed in the shower or would need to dress in the open area exposed to anyone needing toilet.

Great location! Very quiet! Dedicated parking spot at the entrance to each hotel room !!! Overall very good! Free coffee delivery to the room. thank you !!

No kettle, No Coffee maker in the room. This was explained this with COVID regulations / limitations. Though i do not understand how it helps against COVID. Just the opposite - without coffee maker more chances that i would leave the room > Extra social contact.

Great experience here. Staff is very professional as you would expect in a 4 star+ hotel. Price was an excellent value. Last minute booking, we canceled another place because we wanted this bigger room here. This met expectations. Room was very large, spacious and comfortable. It was quiet. Our room had a nice view toward a small Church (some rooms may not?). The immediate area 2-3 blocks looked a bit rough, but I took a walk in the morning and found some delightful small streets with a lot of impressive murals, a small park and it was very artsy. There may have been more I missed. Breakfast was a good portion, great. I would come here again for sure (we may even book again later in this trip on return to Puebla).

The immediate area (a few blocks) has many places boarded up, a busy road to cross and desolate sidestreets, so at first had a bit of concern about safety walking there--but had no safety issues during my stay. Not many open stores in the 1-2 immediate blocks. The location is pretty good-- though requires either walking a decent amount to some further places in centro and/or driving/Ubers/taxi". To get to the main historic area, there is a bit of walking (the Zocalo is maybe 20min. walk though you're 5-10min, from the start of the more centro area).

The staff was very nice and helpful and tried to help us with every question we had. Good location - 8 min walk from the center. The rooms are big and clean.

There were a few bumps along the road, like when the safe in my room didn't work and I had to switch rooms. And one morning there was no hot water, which took a while to get fixed. And when I asked for a vegetarian breakfast to go, they brought me a meat breakfast instead.

The room was modern and spacious. The shower had good water pressure. Decent value.

The internet connection is not good enough. I had to tether my laptop to my phone. The shower floor floods because the tiles slope away from the drain! Poor workmanship. The gym equipment requires maintenance. These are teething problems which stops this hotel from being very good.

It's like the nicest motel you've ever stayed in. The dedicated parking spot is directly underneath the room. The rooms are clean and enormous: there are two king-size beds and a separate sitting area, two large flat-screen TVs etc.

Some of the workmanship is below par. For example, the closet doors didn't fit properly. There were very few channels on the two large TVs so we didn't end up using them. There's a shortage of plug sockets. If I recall correctly, there are plug sockets between the beds but not at the ends so if you have more than two you end up charging in the sitting area. You can walk to nice restaurants and to the center of town (and we did both) but they are not quick walks.

Very clean room and super comfortable beds with outstanding staff service. The continental breakfast was really good and the staff were really friendly and courteous. i would come back to this hotel. The hotel’s elevator was also a plus as we needed it for wheelchair access.

The location was not that easy to get to, as it wasn’t close to the Centro area but the hotel has a parking garage monitored 24/7 and we felt that that car was safe. The room was rather dark and had a small window that faced the parking lot.

This property is very modern with luxury stone shower and large rooms. Air conditioning worked well, water was hot, and the beds were comfortable. Hotel was spotlessly clean and the price was right. We did not have a car, but parking is available. The breakfast was limited, but fine. The staff was friendly. I would stay here again the next time I am in Puebla.

The hotel is a walk from the center of town, but it was not a problem for us.
