One of the ongoing problems with hotels in Mexico is the cama hotelera, the “hotel” bed. A lot of hotels buy harder, firmer mattresses because they last longer, and it is like sleeping on a concrete slab. So you can imagine how thrilled we were to discover this lovely hotel where management had invested in providing a comfortable thermapedic type mattress layer to make the beds super comfortable. And the hot water was great in the showers. The location was great. The rooms were lovely. And wacky in a good way. Lots of antique furniture and the Moroccan Room is one well worth asking for, with its Morocco themed walls and furniture. We would stay here again. The reception staff, truly wonderful. They let us leave our big luggage with them while we road tripped to Cuetzalan for a few days. For more on our trip, and Puebla check out my photos on Jay Francis Día de Muertos 2023 on fb. Update January 2024. I returned to the hotel in January for two nights. January is probably one of the colder months in Puebla. I stayed in room 101 and the king size bed was super comfortable and I slept very well. Being an older hotel, there is no heating in the room so I asked for an extra blanket, and when it was bedtime, I just made quick moves between the bathroom, room area, and bed. What’s in bed, I was perfectly warm and actually slept late. Now, an older hotel running the hot water in January. I noted that it took about five minutes for the hot water to be delivered to the shower, which makes sense because that water has to pass the meters and meters of hotel piping that is probably cold because of the time of year. also being an older hotel, they wouldn’t have their own pressurization system so the water is coming out at fairly low pressure based on whatever the city can deliver. But it wasn’t a major problem for me and the comfortable bed and the location still make me give this hotel a thumbs up. Also, in room 101, lots of closet and drawer space because it is a nice size room

The water pressure in the shower was very low.

Pet friendly. The location was great. One block from the zocalo so close to lots of restaurants, tour busses, shopping. Comfortable king size bed. Large(ish) flat screen TV, excellent wifi. Helpful staff. Large room. Large bathroom. Large shower. Hot water. Coffee pot. Parking available (for a fee) within the same block.

We had a very spacious room, which was good because my friend and I have different sleeping habits and need space between us! Very close to the Zocalo, and the many things in El Centro.

We had trouble connecting with the WiFi sometimes, but the hotel staff was helpful in getting us online.

What an amazing property. I felt like I was living in a royal castle. The high ceilings and antique furnishings exceeded my expectations. The location could not be beat. Close to it all, could walk to all the sites. I wish I had more time there.

The property is older, and the walls are not well insulated. I brought earplugs, because I knew up front there would be street noise and I am a light sleeper. This is not necessarily anything that the hotel could do differently. I think if you are going to stay near the central historic neighborhoods, you need to be accept that there will be noise, and plan accordingly.

Excellent location steps from Callejón de los Sapos, wonderful restaurants and a block from the Zocolo. The staff was friendly and helpful. 350 year old building with a courtyard, high ceilings, and antique furniture. Plus there's an Oxxo around the corner. We felt lucky we stayed there!

There's some street noise but not bad. Comes with the territory. Offset by some pretty good street musicians...

Beautiful old residence in a fantastic location. Right in the action but room was quiet thanks to double glazed window. The beds in mexico can be as hard as rock but this one was very comfortable.

The shower didn't have much water pressure but an old building means old plumbing

This historic hotel is filled with authentic antiques and art. The room my friend and I were in was huge. The balcony was charming and windows on the opposite side gave excellent cross ventilation. Parking (additional charge) is at a very good indoor estacionamiento just a few steps from the entrance

Nothing that I can think of.

Great conditions for a colonial hotel and good location, we were happy to be there

A little disappointed for the hot water on the shower (too long to came outt and not enough pressure) It was a lamp on the night stand with out plug, just the wires peeled off

We have stayed here several times over the years, and the great location is certainly one reason. We also like the character of the hotel and the reasonable price. We like the coffee pot in the room!

Internet was unreliable.

Beautiful hotel. So good for the price. We got the king balcony suite and it was so fun

My partner and I tend to be spontaneous travelers and plan / book things last minute. The WiFi doesn’t work in the room we stayed in which was disappointing as it was the suite. The lack of WiFi made out trip a little more chaotic and we ended up spending $40 extra usd to buy data and plan our trip which is annoying but fine. This place would be perfection if they fixed this
