Hotel 12 BEES by Kavia

This was my 2nd stay here... On previous comments should have noted the great ceiling fan, great window shade allowing as little or as much light as you like, desk had handy outlet and 2 USB ports, big drawers & shelves, phone on room (don't know if there's a charge for calls as some hotels do), and there were no bugs. Very good housekeeping. Helpful staff! Enjoyed the rooftop bar and terrace.

Didn't matter to me, but depending on who you are traveling with, shower privacy might be an issue, as it has glass doors and is partially open to the room. The only access to the nice pool is by ladder, which was scary and precarious but not difficult. I'm a bit afraid of water, so might not be an issue for others. In-room lighting is low...a desk lamp would help.

Clean neat room, nicely decorated, very friendly and helpful staff. Great wifi in the room and air con was v efficient. You can also pay 100 pesos per hour to check out a bit later which was really helpful. There are some great street food stands just south across the main road on C14. [FYI, I was told by a tour guide that I needed to go to the main ADO bus station for the airport bus, which is a hot 20 minute schlep given the humidity (real feel 40 degs)! However the bus then stopped at the ADO station right next to the hotel anyway, so do better research than I did! Due to current road works near the airport, it took almost 2 hrs (travelling on a Monday afternoon at end of Nov 22) to get to the terminal, so factor that in / ask when booking bus ticket.

Only tiny things really: the room facilities on booking.com mentioned a bottle of water would be provided but there wasn't one so I had to head back out to buy some. The wifi doesn't work in the reception area (but worked well in the room). And the rooftop bar was booming til quite late on the Saturday night (as it had been booked for a party) but I drowned out the noise with high air con fan!

Spotless modern room, MASSIVE king size bed, excellent A/C and ceiling fan, lots of storage, shower so good one of the only times in my life when I didn't have the shower on full power, good WiFi. 2 small plunge pools on the roof terrace, do the job of cooling you off. Free breakfast is just fruit and coffee but you can then order eggs. Hamburger on the lunch menu is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Location is not as far out as it looks on a map; 10 mins walk to 5th Avenue, 15 to the beach. 2 big supermarkets opposite and plenty of street food and restaurant options.

The room is like a sealed box, the main window can't be opened, just 1 tiny window in the toilet. No extractor fan means the room steams up. Nowhere to hang clothes to dry. Loads of space means a fridge in the room would be nice. Change the music on the roof terrace, the same 10 to 12 songs ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!!!!! I stayed a total of 11 nights, on checking out for the final time I was charged for getting blood on the bedding because of a nosebleed, 1st time I've ever been charged for something like that, REALLY spoiled my stay.

If you’re on a budget, this hotel is one of the best deals in town. Good location convenient to many areas in Playa and away from the noise of the 5th. Restaurants, supermarkets, beach, shopping, bus station all walking distance away. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Wifi was strong in the room. The rooftop is spacious with plenty of room for sunbathing.

Upon arrival there was a strong humid smell in the room. As the days went by it got a little better. Not sure if it has something to do with the shower not being inside separate bathroom but sort of in the hallway? In my opinion the rooms should have stronger locks with a latch inside to make them more secure. The flimsy little lock doesn’t give a lot of peace of mind, especially when the safety box is too small to fit in larger items like laptops.

The staff here are amazing, so friendly and helpful and kind. Special mention goes to Edson at the front desk and Oscar at the roof-top bar. The rooms are very clean, the wifi good, the hot water plentiful (when you figure out which tap is which). The bed was very comfortable and the room relatively quiet for a city. The elevator is very useful -- many hotels in Playa don't have one. The best feature of this hotel is the breezy roof-top bar/restaurant. The chef is superb. Great pizzas, hamburgers, chicken, and eggs benedict, to mention a few, with very reasonable prices.

The building itself has an odd, impersonal layout that feels like it was originally built as a student dorm or hostel. The guest rooms are small. The location is a bit far from Fifth Avenue to comfortably walk in hot sun. The two roof-top pools are more plunge pools than swimming pools. The roof-top bar needs to stock a few bottles of wine.

the window was not possible to open and there is a big wall infront of the window, so there is no view. I missed a fridge in the room.

Clean room, comfortable bed, space to unpack clothes, helpful staff, good location but far enough away to be quiet. Good strong A/C and hot water for showers. Despite the small breakfast, I would definitely recommend it!

Even though I knew the breakfast was small, it was actually too small to be worth going upstairs for. There is a restaurant to order more and supplement it, but it was a bit slow. If you are the type that just drinks coffee in the morning you would be fine but I needed more to get me through a day of strenuous activities. I would rather they eliminate the free 'breakfast' and use the savings to put a mini-fridge in the rooms. There were multiple times I had leftovers I was worried about and wished I had access to a fridge. The hotel is near three major supermarkets (including Walmart) so it would be easy to self-cater if there was a fridge.

The hotel has two pools (which we did not use but looked great) on the rooftop & food selections. The rooms were clean and I loved the location due to its locality. Computer for rent is available in a block away. Wifi was stable and good. Roofdeck was amazing. Plenty of parking spaces.

I had an issue in the beginning of our trip since the housekeeper let my husband into the room to use the bathroom while we were changing the room for better ventilation. It was like she did that because they didn’t want to change the room. Other than that, the rooms were clean but inside the room there was moldy smell that I could not get it out. ventilation is not done very well since the window is closed. They need a fan other than the AC split system.

Omggggg, I would give 10 stars if there was an option!! EVERYTHING about 12Bees it's AMAZING, room, bed, comfort, service, LOCATION!! I love that option to take care of your luggage once you check out (yes it's safe in a room with a key)... we wanted to stay the rest of our day roaming the city (since the previous days we did some tours to Tulum and Chichen Itza)... Came back to a clean nice room, and beautiful towel animals & heart!! All the toiletries refilled and our room felt cool as far as the temperature...😎 Laura at the front desk was soooooo sweet, she's attentive, polite and very helpful, we left our luggage with them after our check out and came back after 7pm to head to Cancun, she gave us some plastic bags to hold our wet clothes from the Beach. I love the location, you can walk EVERYWHERE!! no need to pay for cabs, quinta avenida is down the road, and the best tacos two streets down, soooo recommending this place to my friends and definitely coming back! Town is very safe too, we walked our ways to the ADO bus station to get to Cancun. Thanks 12bees for making our stay soooo pleasing!

The staff at the pool bar were so friendly and attentive. The room was comfortable and good value for money.
