Hotel B&B - 5th Avenue

Walking distance to 5th Ave and beach but far enough from the noise. The facility is well maintained but don't expect it to be like a 5 star hotel. They offer free breakfast and free marquesitas at night. The staff are friendly and I felt safe walking around the area even late at night. They have free massage as well but I was told they're only doing it on Mondays.

The bed is hard but it's not a big deal for me. What bothered me was the shower...I'm not sure if its the water pressure or the shower head just need to be replaced. Also, you have to use the key to lock your door from the inside which can be a little time consuming...i dont know if that was just our room or all the rooms. Lighting is not good and the ceiling fan wiggles.

We liked it so much and we felt so good that we extended our stay by 6 nights. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor, far from any noise, our terrace was flooded with greenery, due to the exotic trees in the small jungle in the hotel courtyard. A pleasure to drink coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening on this terrace! Location not very close to the beach, but the walk to the beach is very nice, crossing 5th Avenue! The pool is beautiful, but small, I have not seen anyone using it. Breakfast not very wealthy, but enough, delicious evening marquesita! The rooms and the bathrooms were big and very clean, the cleaning ladies came daily to clean. The value for money was one of the best of all my travels.

Although we asked on the last morning if we could check out later than 12 o'clock, and we were told that yes, we can, nobody told us that we have to pay for this. When, at 2 o'clock, we came to check out, we were told that the cost for late check-out is 80 pesos per hour. I understood that these are the rules of the hotel, but still... After 15 nights spent there, to pay for 2 hours seemed a little embarrassing...

I live in Bacalar but travel to PDC for family and this little hotel is very well located, quiet and well managed. You feel comfortable as soon as you enter the lobby. Full of plants and walkways, its a treat. Each room at garden level has a little patio with table and chairs. The staff are excellent, friendly and attentive. I love having the availability of hot tea anytime day or night and the marquesitas at night are a special treat. Beds are comfortable and pillows are plentiful, wifi good. It's a great value for the price and allows me to be in Playa whenever needed. Thanks to all!

The pool could be a little cleaner, my pillows were a bit lumpy (I'm particular) and I'd love a some low light ambiance in the patio pool area at night. It wouldn't have to be on all the time in the event of star gazing, but having a switch for a little low lighting would be great. I'm not complaining, just mentioning.

This place has so much personality and the staff make it even better. It's like a little, funky jungle oasis just a 2 blocks (less than 5 minutes walk) from 5th Ave and the beach. They have a different breakfast each day and coffee and herbal tea available all the time. We love Cinthia, the manager (and massuse!), she just generates positivity. The good feelings between the guests and staff make it easy to overlook any small knackered bits about the hotel. Every day after walking for hours, we came back to the hotel and sat with our feet in the cool, shaded pool. All the guests chat to each other. We were blown away by the value for money and good expereince here. One tip: request an upstairs room, they seem to have been remodeled more recently with cute mexican tile in the bathrooms and have shaded balcony areas that are nice, private, and lush with greenery.

Some furniture is a bit tired, but the price is so low, you can't fault them! However, they are always cleaning, planting, skimming the pool, people are always working here, so they make the best with what they have! They were freshening up the paint around the pool and garden on the day we left :-)

Very nice and peaceful location, one block from the 5th Avenue. We had 15 min massage for free, breakfast and dinner were simple but very good. Stuff at the reception was kind and helpful. All main attractions are nearby…in general we were very satisfied.

Humidity in the room.

Quiet location close to everything. Pleasant staff. Free breakfast sometimes includes eggs. Free tee and coffee all day. Pool decoration is very nice and in general the place is very relaxing. Great price for what you get. The beds are comfortable, and the sleep was good. Also, there is a free 15-minute massage included!

There was a smell of mold in the first room. After I charged the room, it was much better, no smell, but the Mosquito net in the bathroom was torn a bit, so I think I had a couple of them because of that.

This was a smaller hotel very close to beach and night ,it also had a oxxo and 7 /11 on the same block and every kind of restaurant within walking distance. The Hotel staff was very friendly and help me with any thing from getting a cab or helping you book excursions they treated me and my friend as we family. This is 3.5 rated hotel that staff make you fell like its 5 star with out all the amenities the come from a 5 star hotel and well recommend this hotel to any one thhat does not require all that comes with a 5 star hotel.

The thing i did not like is the water pressure and temp in rooms varied my hot water never got real hot in my room, i never turned on cold in shower unless i wanted a cold shower and my friends room he said was very hot and he could not get a good mix of cold and the pressure in both was ok but not great.

Noe was a tremendous help throughout with so much great information and the rest of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable as well. It was a little oasis just far enough yet close enough to all of the action.

My only challenge was they have free bikes which I loved. I took a bike that got me to Porta Esmerelda but I had to walk the bike back and got caught in two torrential downpours. I had also worn flip flops which I don’t normally walk in which made it more challenging for me.

The garden area is very nice with a jungle vibe and at night it looks beautiful when they turn on lights on the trees. They offer free bikes so you can explore the city and the breakfast was quite nice (sandwich, fruit and yogurt) and coffe and tea are available 24h (water is payable). I recomend.
