Los Frailes Hotel Boutique

Hidden treasure: When we entered the street (it seemed like a less wealthy hood) we've been surprised by this beautiful hotel with the backyard garden and pool. It was in 10-12min walking distance to the convento de st. bernadino and some nice restaurants around.

The breakfast was pretty basic (you can choose between scrumbled eggs OR 3 mini pancakes, a juice OR a tiny plate of fruits). But at least they offered a free refill of coffee which was pretty good. If you put the "Don't disturb - No molestar" sign onto your door, the cleaning ladies still knock on the door and try to enter which is pretty much the opposite of the sign... Dogs have been barking in the night and morning hours.

Quiet, familiar place with a super friendly workforce. everyone was really nice! I got a good deal on the room due to Black Friday. the room was spacious and very clean. The pool got cleaned daily. they provide pool towels as well. Breakfast is included - communication with the hotel easy and quick. the people at the reception were exceptionally friendly!

it is a bit away from the centre (20-25 min walk); the hotel is in a residential area so you always have to walk a bit to get to bars, restaurants etc. However the convent is only 10 mins away. The breakfast has very limited options and they would charge you if you want more food.

This hotel was so perfect! It is located just outside the hustle and bustle which is what I wanted. I needed a quiet hotel and this one delivered. We walked to the monastery and all the restaurants from the hotel (10 minute walk). The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished (I stayed in room 5). Breakfast in the morning is simple but just right for the price. I had scrambled eggs with beans and toast, a tea and fresh watermelon. This was all included in the price of the room. Great value!!

The elegance of the building was very nice and the pool was a great size. It'd about a 20 min walk into town along a street that was dark but safe both at day and night. The staff were really helpful and recommended us a local restaurant where we ate really well and cheaply!! The breakfast was not bad either-a choice of pancakes and three types of eggs along with juice or fruit and some small bits of bread with homemade jam- the pancakes were good!

The breakfast service was a bit slow!

The pool is nice to refresh in after a long day walking around. The restaurant for the evening and breakfast has really good meals. The eggs in the morning and the nachos in the evening are really good.

The wifi was quite unreliable, one day it worked, but the second day it did not work at all. It is a little far from the centre but it is just a walk away. Remember which road the hotel is on, as it is a bit dark coming back in the evening.

We stayed here simply for a place to sleep before driving to Chichen Itza early the next morning. Hidden gem; beautiful courtyard and pool; friendly and accommodating staff. The room was clean and very large. The bathroom was refinished and there was storage space for our luggage. Because we planned to leave before breakfast, the staff offered us a "lunchbox" to-go (reserved the night before) consisting of a ham sandwich and cut papaya. (Very basic and I was a bit wary, but it truly sustained me until after the site visit.) Good coffee! If staying in clean, updated, and charming accommodations is important to you, Hotel Los Frailes fits the bill.

This location is not in the "downtown" or popular area of Valladolid. However, it did not matter to us, because we had a car and we weren't there to explore Valladolid. (A shame, because we found this to be a really cool town and had a great dinner the evening of our stay and came back for lunch after Chichen Itza.) Consequentially, there were quite a few local dogs roaming outside and barking at night. However, this actually (amazingly) did not keep me from falling asleep. Traveling through Mexico is a sure way to exhaust yourself into good sleep :)

Nice hotel, looks like a palace. 15 minutes walk to the main square, you have to pass several streets before coming up to convent but walk was nice, felt quite safe even in the dark and it was interesting to see how to locals are living. Room was comfortable, shower facilities worked well, parking was easy almost next to the room in the private lot.

It was strange that they serve pancakes at the breakfast but have only honey to go with, no butter or jam, so if you don't like honey, you get to eat pancakes dry. Also - only 4 beach beds at the pool, but it doesn't look like hotel guests are using them very ofter.

Travelling in Mexico might occasionally be complicated. Yet, Hotel Los Frailes is a modern and gorgeous hotel that has everything you need to explore Yucatan. The receptionist Jesus was very helpful and provided us with a lot of information about Valladolid and how to reach the best locations and restaurants. The building was recently renovated and it has everything you need, including a beautiful pool. The neighbourhood might seem a bit dodgy at night, but it is absolutely safe. Also, the parking slot is quite big and it is easy to park.

Breakfast choice was quite limited (only eggs and pancakes). But you get nice coffee.

The atmosphere of this place is so pleasant that, upon our arrival we immediately booked an additional night and we wished we could stay even longer. It's a bit off the city-center but I believe it's more of an advantage than a disadvantage because it's really quiet around the hotel, ideal for a rest. The hotel is sizeable, comfortable and beautiful with kind, english speaking staff. Taxi prices to the center are really cheap from where one could take a Collectivo to Chichen Itzá or travel further with ADO buses. I'd recommend for both tourists and business stay.

The place in general was clean and comfortable. Has a nice pool, even though needs a little more maintenance. Nice parking space. Food options are a little bit limited but breakfast was very good. The sound of music in the surroundings was too loud and extended through very late in the night. That was too much.
