The greeting with wine and a personalised cheese platter was a lovely touch to the luxurious room. We were also upgraded due to us being on our honeymoon which was a lovely surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed the room. This is a unique spot with a different vibe only having three rooms in the hotel, making it more personable and special. The breakfast room service was well worth it as well.

The tv is very small and old so we tried to watch a movie and ended up turning it off. The rest of the room was lovely though so we weren't too bothered. It is also next to a busy pub so there is some evening noise, but this comes with the central location.

Our host was lovely. We had a complimentary drink on arrival and she helped us find somewhere to eat in the evening. The room was lovely - bed very comfortable - everywhere was spotless. Very convenient for the local amenities. No breakfast on our package but we were given 2 lovely croissants when we were leaving. Definitely stay again.

The room above us were leaving very early and it was a very noisy departure. 🙃

This is a very small hotel (only 3 rooms) which only adds to its charm. Its location in the centre of Picton is an additional benefit as it is only a couple of minutes' walk from shops and nearby facilities. The old world style of decor ,the large rooms which are spotless and supremely comfortable has to be experienced. The restaurant is closed for evening meals , but the welcome touch of a wine and cheese plate is a unique touch. Breakfast is offered and sets you up for the day ahead. I would love to stay here again.

Absolutely nothing.

This little hotel, previously a bank, retains some of the old charm of a repurposed building. There are three guest rooms, two upstairs, no lift by the way, and one downstairs. The upstairs room has a balcony overlooking the eastern part of Picton harbour, and carpark. Curtains are effective at keeping the sunrise out and the heat in. The living room area is spacious and light, with a gas fireplace for warmth and large screen TV, local channels only. There is a separate bedroom and the bed is extremely comfortable, with doors opening into a modernish bathroom, with spa bath and walk-in shower. It is situated next door to an Irish pub which gets noisy later in the evening as patrons leave. The hotel has it's own restaurant downstairs and the relaxing mood music playing can be clearly heard softly playing upstairs in the room. We found no-one in attendance on arrival but one quick phone call and someone was there to check us in. It seems they also run another B&B nearby. We were offered a complimentary drink, which arrived with complimentary petit fours for afternoon tea. We were also provided with ice cold water, and fresh milk in a jug, being kept cold in an ice bath as there was no fridge in the room. Tea and coffee making but no fridge. Breakfast can be prebooked in the restaurant, which we did not do as there are plenty of cafes nearby, but we received a knock on the door at 8am and were presented with a complimentary pot of tea, and fresh croissants! what a lovely surprise! We dined in the restaurant the night before and the food was very good. A charming and quiet atmosphere. The location is ideal for travelling on the ferry, or finding the hire car offices, both of which are only a short distance away.

Although we were able to leave the car after check-out, the actual free parking is quite limited, and the space accommodated three small cars but if you have an SUV it may be more difficult. And the lack of a fridge for fresh milk was disappointing although we were given UHT overnight. For those with mobility issues this is not the place, no lift and narrow stairs. But minor issues really, the friendliness of the staff made up for any concerns.

Elizabeth, who looked after us, was fabulous and utterly charming - just like the hotel. The Luxury Room we stayed in was lovelier and bigger than expected, especially the bathroom. They brought us fresh croissants with jams and butter on one of the last mornings and they were incredible! The petit fours and wine on arrival also made us feel very special.

The room had no mini fridge, which would have been really handy. The pillows were a bit too soft for our taste. If I had to nitpick, there were too many chairs and cushions (we literally had to climb over a chair to get to the coffee machine). Warning about the evening turn-down service would have been appreciated, as were weren't expecting two room services every day.

Beautifully appointed large upstairs room; very comfortable, lovely outlook, close to other facilities with a delightful and welcoming afternoon tea tray filled with local sweet treats, plus the offer of a glass of wine. We had driven across from Nelson on a very cold and wet day so it was good to arrive in this warm, high comfort space and be able to park straight outside. While we only stayed overnight before driving on to Blenheim, we did manage a couple of walks around the local streets and by the water and enjoyed seeing Picton from such a lovely vantage point.

We were disappointed to discover that the on-site restaurant was not open for dinner or breakfast for our booking; we had not realised this when booking a Monday night and when deciding to pay extra for breakfast to be included. We did however get a good dinner recommendation from our host for a nearby hotel and had a very good meal there that night. We would not have paid extra for the breakfast before we arrived had we realised we would be having warm croissants and sweet pastry offerings again (similar to the afternoon tea) - this is what was served for breakfast because the restaurant was closed.

Absolutely stunning room with a balcony. Fantastic location. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. One of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in! Recommend a couple of nights to really lap up the luxury.

It’s a boutique property so I understand that’s where the price is at, but we would return. Car parking is off road down an alleyway.

Exquisite and large room with everything you need to be at home in comfort in Picton. If you're fortunate enough to stay here you will be well looked after by the excellent staff like Elizabeth who are so welcoming and helpful. The downstairs restaurant has a delicious menu and a well crafted wine menu (of course!) to top off your stay. Thank you Escape to Picton!

Road noise with single glazed windows. Trucks started up every night at 3am outside windows. Also internal noise from reception downstairs.

The French influenced stay. The lovely attention to detail and staff that were seeming to know when you weren't around so your room was opened, closed, warmed and prepared every day. The lovely touch of French pastries and petit fors, the glass just of lemon iced water and the beautiful decor of the room. The most relaxing and lovely stay and just fabulous group of staff who we wish to thank as did not see you all before we left. We will rave and pass on recommendations to our friends. Thankyou. Lisa and Craig.
