Good location, short walk to ‘eat street’ with its many bars and restaurants and Tourist Information / transportation hub. The staff / owner was very friendly and helpful, receiving post for us and providing a spare phone charging cable (to keep) when mine failed. Very good powerful shower if somewhat tiny cubicle.

The room was very hot, west facing and over the ‘drying room’ (although a/c was effective.) The decor and facilities were quite dated, but clean and functional.

despite being an older building, the inside of our room which was on the upper floor was modern and all the fittings had been upgraded and it was modern, clean and spacious. it had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. it was quiet. the person on reception was very helpful and carried bags upstairs. The motel is very close to all the best eating spots. a short walk to the Thermal gardens which are very pretty and one block from the lake front. so in an excellent location but on a side street so away from traffic noise.

On a hot day I think this room would get very hot. There was a fan but there is no air conditioning. Parking was on the road outside and on leaving to go visit a nearby tourist site, there was no space outside when we came back in the afternoon and we had to park some way away.Having said that, the parking outside did become available later in the evening. But dedicated parking or having to display some sort of ticket would be helpful to guarantee a parking place. The Thermal pool is inside a windowless room and looked unappealing. The outside pool is small but clean.

Great motel. Very central to Eat Street, Sulphur Point walkway, Information Centre and the water front. Our room had a kitchenette and newish carpet. Shower pressure was good, though the temperature did fluctuate a lot. We had a wall heater and large portable fan. The owners were great, very friendly. They had trouble with our card when they tried to process payment in advance and could have cancelled our booking (and probably could have found someone to pay the full rate) but thankfully agreed to hold it for us. This was a great motel and we would stay here again.

Walking distance to the information centre made it easy to take coaches with our car parked at the motel. Warm pool that opens until late was very convenient during our stay. The pool provided both shallow and deep water. We didn't use the hot spa but that seemed nice too. The oven in my room needed a bit of handy work on the first night and the owner was very helpful letting me use one in the other room - which was a little inconvenient but better than none.

Nothing. Would be MORE convenient if they had floaties/tubes provided for the deep pool.

There was apparently an issue with the room I had booked, so the management upgraded is too a family suite. It was huge, much bigger than we really needed for the two of us, but it was very much appreciated, at no further cost to us. I was greeted very warmly at reception on check-in, and all the housekeeping staff I encountered were lovely and helpful. While it probably wouldn't be enough if every unit brought a car, there was plenty of off-street parking available during our stay. The location is fantastic, walking to distance to the city centre and all the dining options available there, but at the same time slightly away from the hustle and bustle, so still quiet and peaceful, even with the construction across the road. There is a washing machine for guest use for $4/load, also a dryer but I instead took advantage of the free guest drying room to dry my washing, which worked pretty well, and doesn't leave your clothes smelling like the mineral warmth that gives the room its heat. The status we used to access our second floor room were crazy narrow, too narrow to carry large luggage up, but there are at least two other staircases you can use, so that was fine. If I ever need accommodation in central Rotorua again, I'd be more than happy to stay at the Ambassador Thermal again.

great location - close to the center of town with great places to eat - recommend the le cafe de Paris for breakfast and the Ali Baba Tunisian restaurant for a delicious well priced dinner! the staff were friendly and helpful. the rooms were a little dated but very clean. the beds were very comfortable with lovely crisp clean sheets

nothing really, it’s a bit tired but you get what you pay for. - it serves its purpose as a reasonably priced place to rest your head for the night

Loved how central this property was. To our surprise it is located across from the Wai Ariki hot springs and spa so we were able to walk across and enjoy that. Eat street is a short walk away. Room was a good size and parking was basically right outside our room so carrying luggage was to and from our room was a breeze

Pool was a lot smaller than anticipated but we still enjoyed it the next morning

Location was right in town which was great as it was close to the hospital(reason i was staying the night) , the room we booked was massive and would be great for families, full living, dining and kitchen area. There was access to thermal pools which my sister in laws enjoyed. Beds were comfortable, full fridge, stove and a microwave available all of which were handy and great shower pressure. Rooms were also very clean. Parking was readily available on the street. Close to many food options.

It was very hot rooms(considering its winter), others may like as its "warm". They did provide a fan in one room but not the other. And if you opened the window the rotorua scent was quite pungent. Our room was unfortunately on the bottom floor by the stairwell, pool and the road, so lots of people passing by was quite loud and you also hear everyone above you stomping about.

Location was excellent and was happy to find a room that accommodated my adult family. Some refurbishment needed but ok at the price point

Room clean but sheets had strong sulphur smell (stronger than general smell in the air) A curtain for the glass on door would have been nice to dim/block the light coming into the living area where beds are in the morning

Location, swimming pools, comfort beds, cleanliness, reception guy was very polite and helpful. My family of 5 being 3 adults and 2 children loved our stay even though it was one night, we are keen to return but next time loner.

1. The lounge suite is a little uncomfortable and placed in the unit awkwardly to how the t.v is situated and there is no extension cords for the fan in the lounge as the power points are too far away from the bed or hidden behind the t.v. 2. The blinds could do with some new ones as we found it tricky to pull down the blind in the main bathroom as the swimming pool is right outside the window, we had to use the towel to cover up the gap.
