ASURE Explorer Motel & Apartments

Very helpful and friendly owner and staff. Located within walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarket, waterfront etc. Quiet location. Spacious, clean, comfortable room and well equiped.

The shower in my room was no better than a hosepipe at first BUT once the owners were aware of the issue they attended to it straight away and were also very kind to me for the inconvenience. It's always best to speak to owners directly and NOT put stuff on public pages first. So many are struggling still to maintain a profitable business, be kind and thoughtful, if they don't know about something, they don't know. Give them a chance to rectify any issues you may have before making it a public announcement. These guys did exactly that and all kudos to them.

Friendly and accommodating staff - allowed us to leave our luggages to join a tour and come back in the afternoon for it after. Fairly close to town centre. Room was immaculate and spacious. Situated in a quiet street so you can get a good rest - outdoor patio faces a good greenery view so it is relaxing. The bathroom is clean and looks new. Complimentary tea/coffee (plus milk) was well appreciated. You’re getting your money’s worth staying here - at least in my experience, it feels that way.

We liked staying here for 3 days - the new owners have been working towards updating everything - the bathroom was new and functional - the rest of the room was comfortable too. We had issues connecting with wifi (they only had it upgraded a week before) and the owner went above and beyond to get us online which was appreciated

Parking was a bit of a squeeze with some patrons being a bit stupid in their parking endeavours - and would park anywhere (not outside their room but ours) which was annoying - but in no way is this the Hotels fault

The host was super friendly and attentive! She made us feel very welcome upon arrival and provided a lot of information to help us around. From the outside, we couldn't tell how spacious the room was! Decent area for kitchenette and bathroom. Very spacious living room with 1 queen bed and 1 single bed plus sofa area and dining area. The beds were very comfortable with adjustable heating. Room and toilet were very clean with good amount of towels. Overall, it was a great stay for 3 nights! Will recommend to anyone coming to the area.

Just 2 minor areas. 1. Wifi was a bit spotty and randomly got disconnected. We had 3 devices on wifi so not sure if we were exceeding limit. 2. It will be good if there is more space in the shower area to place more bottles.

The queen studio packed a lot in without feeling overly crowded. Large bathroom, that maybe felt dated but worked perfectly. Nice to have multiple places to sit (couch and table). Perfect to have on-site laundry, an outdoor patio, and access to a grill.

We could not consistently find a parking spot but I think street parking was acceptable. And we struggled to unlock the door, it took a special jiggle to twist the key.

Areas for Improvement Can’t think of any right now We would stay again next time we visit Te Anau

Excellent location: downtown Te Anau, the National Park, and the waterfront were all within easy walking distance, and a large city park is adjacent to the hotel. Nice ground-floor two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit with kitchen and sitting room. The heated bed mattresses are handy for cool nights, and the built-in benches in the bedrooms for holding luggage were a nice touch, as were the lights and light switches over the beds. We appreciated our own off-road parking space, too, and liked the book exchange in the main office. The managers are nice folk!

The TV remote worked only sporadically for turning on/off the TV. We would have liked free access to the washers/dryers for the facility.

The room was extra big with front and rear access. It was light and airly with gardens at the rear and parking right at the front door. Access to the town centre was a short flat walk thru a park - maybe 500 meters. Quite a variety of food facilities were there. Bed was comfortable and no passing traffic noise as the place is away from the main roads. I guess it was only about 400 meters to the water where there was an interesting lakeside walkway in both directions.

There was some issue with the booking fees but it was sorted out. Did not have any complaints about the room or appliances not working.

The room was spacious and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the location was quiet. We had a minor issue on arrival. The reception staff member couldn't have been more understanding and it was soon resolved. She was very apologetic.All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. We are travelling through New Zealand and this was our first Assure Motel. Had we known what they offered we would have booked for other locations.
