Fiordland Hotel

A lovely spacious unit, with great amenities - including a washing machine and full oven. Liked the outside area with outdoor furniture to sit on. Nice shower nd the unit was lovely and clean with good, cofortable beds. CLose to restaurants as well.

I actually didn't see the motel owner and so when I went to pay for the accommodation, the reception area was locked. I just had to assume paymenthad been taken from my credit card but no receipt was given or any communication by email that this had happened. I had to wait until I returned home to make sue payment had gone through.

Decent stay if you don't want to stay at a campsite, but also do not want to pay for fancy hotels around. Nice lounge with a pool table and a ping-pong table. From one side, they have a microwave there and even allow to stack dirty dishes so the staff will clean it next day...

...from other side, if you arrived too late you will not have a chance to cook something for yourself (BBQ outside may be excluded from the consideration if it's raining). And the restaurant does not work late, as well as many other cafes around...

When we travel, we generally pick simple places that meet the following criteria - clean, good hot water supply, good wifi, the option to make tea and a basic breakfast in the morning, and ideally quiet. This motel met all of that, except the wifi was a little slow starting around 5pm once more people were back in their rooms. Streaming became difficult, so we watched random TV shows. There also wasn't a microwave in the room. Not a deal breaker, but we had them in other motels that were cheaper. Otherwise, it was an easy walk to town and of course is in a beautiful area.

The bed was very comfortable. We got amazing service from the moment I walked into the reception, the lady who helped me was lovely. We went into our room and discovered they had left us chocolate for our anniversary - which was super cute!!

The only thing that we didn't like about our room, was the shower. The pressure was good, but the temperature kept changing between boiling hot and freezing cold when it was set to what we wanted it to be.

It was very quiet (the hotel was nowhere near capacity), the room was lovely and warm, bathroom was clean and sparkly (that vanity!) and it was close to everything with the main road to the Fiordland National park a stones throw away. Super affordable, it was a very welcoming and friendly experience for a lone traveller.

The external of the property felt a little tired and rundown compared to the other hotels in the area.

Staff were very friendly. The room was comfortable, cosy and warm, and fresh smelling. The room was also very clean. Triple room was a good size for 3 people, 4 might have been too crowded. Absolutely fine stay for a couple of nights in Te Anau.

The grounds and common areas were sadly quite run down, but the room was totally fine which is all that matters really. .

Great value for a pleasant room, with a distant view over Lake Te Anau. Not fancy but the room had everything we needed. The hotel also had an old-fashioned games room, with a large public balcony.

A longish walk - about a kilometre - to the centre of Te Anau, though the road had a good footpath the whole way.

Dang on reception and part of the management team was lovely and so helpful. The beds were comfortable and the view from the room was great.

Nothing really wrong but it was rather dated and the WiFi wasn't very strong, especially if you were further down the corridor like we were.

This was a great value for money resting stop from a big day at Milford Sound. The price was very reasonable, and the room was exactly what we needed for a comfortable stay.

Not sure if anything can be done about this, but when people were passing by our room, we could hear everything they were saying so the doors are not particularly sound proof. Other than that, great stay.

Location. Room has recently been renovated. Bathroom was nicely done.

Nor really something I didn’t like, but some shared areas are a bit dated. However I imagine it is a huge job to bring this up to date, and it appears the owners are working towards it
