The Village Inn Hotel

The gentleman in the front desk was very helpful and let us check in early as we were travelling ti Milford Sound and would have been returning too late to check in property otherwise. He also upgraded our room to include better kitchen facilities so that we could self cater if we returned too late for the Te Anau Restaurants which finish food service about 8pm generally. Theres also 10% off for residents in the restsurant attached to the hotel. The menu sounded new lovely but regret that we arrived back too late - thank goodness for the free kitchen upgrade 👍❤️ There was a laundry service available but we didn’t use it. Its not a luxury accommodation but its great value for money in an area that is in great demand. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again ourselves if the opportunity arises 👍the staff, particularly the gentleman on front desk were very friendly, extremely helpful and friendly.

The rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. The food at the restaurant was also excellent, we enjoyed it very much and ate there 2 nights and a buffet breakfast. At reception, Humpfrey was absolutely amazing, he helped us with recommendations, was very accommodating and even taught us how to use chop sticks properly. Very surprising stay and we had a good time staying here.

The shower door of our unit did not close, so the bathroom floor flooded a bit, and the curtains didn't close all the way.

Village Inn is a basic Motel. It is a good economical option for self drivers wanting to stay in Te Anau. There is plenty of free parking right in front of the room. The location is easy to find. Village Inn is not located in a scenic part of town. But, it is a short walk to the lake front or dining on the main street area. The room was larger and nicer than we expected.

There were minor maintenance issues with the room door locks that might have been a security risk in a less safe area.

Unique little ‘village’ where all the rooms/sections are named after historical businesses including a bank. Very interesting. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lovely spacious room (number 820). Nothing fancy but, very comfy beds, pillows were a bit soft but my neck survived and plenty of space for suitcases etc. Great bathroom, although the shower is over the bath making it a bit more difficult for people with limited mobility. Good little kitchenette although there was no microwave unfortunately. There is a shared laundry is separate to the room and costs $4/load each for both the washing machine and the dryer. Ground floor which is very convenient and you can park the car in front of your door. There was a restaurant however, we didn’t use it.

Nothing. Actually, the TV was pretty average couldn’t adjust the picture to the correct aspect ratio for the screen. Meaning we couldn’t see the whole picture including time stamps and news banners etc.

We had a fantastic stay, the room was large and bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very nice and obviously recently renovated. Our meal at the chinese restaurant was delicious. A great place to go and share food with friends or family.

Extractor fan in the bathroom was incredibly loud and hooked into the lighting but I felt like I might disturb the neighbouring guests if used at night. Shower head was a bit loose and struggled to stay in position.

I appreciated that they booked us with 2 rooms with inside access between the 2 bedrooms. The rooms are clean too and with heaps of space. The onsite restaurant was also very good.

I didn't like that there was no plates and cutleries in the bedroom. They also did not remove rubbish so we had our rubbish for the 3 nights we stayed there or top up toiletries (shampoo and body wash).

We stayed here for only 1 night to visit Milford sound. For this price, I think the room was really good and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of room as we enter room to keep our luggage and other stuff. I was happy to see the Bathtub and mirror with LED lights and the toilet was separated from the bathroom. Parking was available too with no extra charges. TV with Netflix was provided (you need to use your own logins though). Close proximity to Town center and Milford sound. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Village In Hotel.

I was able to hear voices from the adjacent rooms I am sure they could hear us too so I wish there were some privacy and noise cancellation in the room.

Host helpful with laundry questions and equipment instructions. Good wi-fi. Bathroom complete. Best feature was the very complete kitchenette. Enjoyed doing breakfasts there. Short walk to lake and mainstreet of Te Anau. Linens on bed very comfortable.

Replacing our linens was spotty. We stayed three days and got two washcloths. Did get one towel replaced. Not essential to our comfort, just noted.

Plenty of space in this large room with kitchenette. The bathroom was very good with a nice if what small shower. Only a short walk into town with lots of amenities. Restaurant on site although we didn't use as the only cuisine (apart from breakfast) was Chinese. The room had it's own WiFi hub. Firestick attached to the tv but no live channels available.

Although the cleanliness on the whole was very good, the toilet brush was absolutely disgusting. Kitchenette could do with a makeover.

couple in their 30s travelling, the room was extremely spacious with 2 double beds, the bathroom was also big and had everything we needed. We stayed here to half our drive to Milford Sound rather than driving from Queenstown. would definitely recommend and would stay again if ever in this part or New Zealand.

Although the bathroom was large, the shower cubicle itself was an odd shape which made it feel a little tight and claustrophobic with the door closed. There was also no safe in the room.
