Very good hotel, nice staff and actually quite cheap for what you get. Excellent location, 10 minute walk to the centre which takes you past some historic places with good views of the castle. Good location walked back to the hotel at midnight and didn't feel like I was going to get murdered. Good range of breakfast items that arrive to your room when you want it to.

Just a couple of things, there was a wee skitter on the bed sheet but this could be due to the last person getting excited about the value for money, room was a sweatbox could only open one window about an inch which wasn't even enough to ruffle the curtains slightly, I would've liked my bacon roll a little bit warm, I didn't like how the bed was on wheels as when we woke up in the morning we were halfway across the room. There was a patch in the bathroom that has obviously been worked on and painted over but the colour didn't match the rest of the room which played about with my OCD. Didn't like the slidey door to the toilet it could be confused for another cupboard. No parking either.

Room was clean, spacious and had a small kitchenette which came in very handy! I loved that the sink was separate to the toilet and shower areas. The hotel offers a free laundry service although we didn't use, would've been super handy if staying for a longer duration of time. Staff were attentive, friendly and kind. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING! Fantastic selection of continental and hot food available to cater to all taste buds! Location was amazing too, around a 5-7 min walk and you're at the Royal Mile! 5 min walk if that to the National Museum of Scotland. Great location overall and perfect hotel for what we needed.

Some of the furniture in the room was a little outdated considering the price we paid, but I wasn't too bothered about this and it didn't take away from the experience. I wanted to use the gym facilities but the space was so incredibly small. 2 treadmills, a weight pyramid and a bench that was it. Could've been a better use of space I think.

Location is really good, it took us aprox 12 mins of walk to the historical city center. Rooms are big enough, bathroom was clean and modern, room nicely equipped, really great space, very warm inside, the beds are comfortable, too soft for me personally, but that's my personal preference

Breakfasts are tendentious, rather typical English breakfasts- quite boring and not much to eat for people who don't eat meat. Sweet croisants are not enough in my opinion- the weakest point of this really nice hotel in my opinion. The lack of botteled water in the room is also something that surprised us, but rather it is a nice gesture on the from the hotel to their guests

The room was quite big. The bed was very comfortable. They provided extra fan as the temperature of the city was unexpectedly high. Best thing was free use of washing machines and dryers at the ground floor. The soaps were provided by the hotel. The breakfast was good. Fresh fruits and different type of breads, cereal, eggs and cold cuts were available with tea and coffee. The location is excellent near the university and a huge park. The touristic area is not too far near public transportation and within ten minutes of walk all kind of good restaurants are available.

Having air conditioning in the room would have been better. There is only one elevator and very slow.

Being near The Meadows was grand. Not only was there access to a wonderful green space but the location was close to many area attractions and restaurants. The 20-minute walk to and from the train station was fairly straightforward, though there is a somewhat steep climb from the station to the hotel. The hot and cold breakfast offerings were generous and varied with special diets available by request. Another bonus was a small grocery store, Sainsburys, right around the corner where you could find items to stock the in-room kitchenette.

Our 7th floor room (in mid-April) became overly warm by the afternoon. By regulation, the door out to the little balcony could only be opened about 10 inches so there was not much fresh air flow and obviously no access to the table and chairs there. The room cooled significantly by nighttime and in fact was a bit chilly for my husband (not me). The staff brought him an extra blanket upon request. The only other mild complaint we had was that the fragrance sprayed on the draperies each day was very overpowering.

The very best part of staying at this hotel was the location. We walked all over Edinburgh-the hotel is located close enough to the sights but just far enough from the city center to escape the crowds. It’s also very close to a grocery store, so we often ate in after a long day out. It was comfortable and the staff were so friendly. The breakfast was fantastic too.

The only problem was the dishwasher in the kitchenette that wasn’t working and was quite dirty on the inside. The staff responded to our inquiry right away, but weren’t able to fix it while we were there.

Breakfast was very nice. Small selection but the right amount. Dining area a bit on the small side for the size of the hotel. Location was good and central to where we wanted to be. Corridors were being deep cleaned which is good to see.

The plumbing was very loud in our room-417. Everytime someone flushed the toilet or showered upstairs you could hear the water coming down and gurgled very loud which did wake us up. The fridge didn’t work which we only discovered on our last night when we wanted to put drinks in to watch the football however there was a ice machine in the corridor. Room and corridor very warm even with the windows open.

easy access and close to centre, everything is within 20mins walk of eachother. the staff were lovely and really welcoming and whilst arriving early for check in, we were told if we signed up to the Marriott membership for free we could get a free room upgrade which was lovely to hear!

After staying for 2 nights, I now realised that the price should’ve been less for what we got, some areas in the room were damaged with water for example around the sink and had stained accent pillows on the bed, also wasn’t much seating area whilst having breakfast so would have to wait until other people were finished to then be sat, which can be inconvenient when on a schedule with activities ext. being on a holiday.

the location is great, near city center, just a short walk, breakfast was nice, a lot of different choices and also tasty, enough space in the room for two persons

no possibility to open a window for some fresh air, we have asked at the reception and they have arrange it to open it, so we could have some air in the room, no dinning space- the breakfast was served in a reception in main hall, that is totally unappropriate. toilet should have better door, not just a slide door, so the toilets are practically in the rooom. bathroom should be more separate from the room. very uncomfortable beds
