Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

The location is perfect, close to bars, shops, restaurants and main attractions. The room has high ceilings, double windows that isolate you from the noise outside and very nice amenities and furniture. The bed and pillows are perfect. The overall vibe of the place is amazing, down to every detail like aroma, design, lighting, etc. definitely high end.

The toilet is not isolated from the room, so if you’re lying on the bed, you can literally hear the person in the toilet sigh, and of course all the rest. Terrible experience. The floor outside the shower, in front of the sink is heated, which is good for about 5 minutes when you get out of the shower, but it becomes uncomfortable the rest of the time, when you’re brushing your teeth, changing or just passing through the area. It also heats up the room and by morning you either need to crank up the AC or deal with it. There is no parking or valet. One employee told us they had a deal with St James Quarter parking lot, but when I asked for validation they said there was no deal in place, so I had to pay the nightly rate of 20 some pounds.

Beautiful hotel! The breakfast was fantastic my 1st morning. It was still good other mornings but when I ordered the same thing the 2nd day, it wasn't quite as good albeit still good. I loved the room and especially the balcony. It was so nice sitting out there and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The staff was so kind and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! I want a vanity and bathroom with the shower at home! 😁

There was more avocado and feta the 1st morning breakfast but it was still good other mornings. If I had to choose 1 thing, I like a fan on at night for sound and coolness, they did not have a fan. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

Delightful from start to end. Rooms give exactly what you need - nice shower and bed, and lots of great touches (Buckie, Irn Bru etc). Breakfast hit the spot. Location ideal just off Royal Mile but quiet enough. Bed very comfy. And the staff really make the place - they've obviously recruited really well. Good luck to the hotel and everyone involved - would thoroughly recommend staying.

Delicious breakfast with lots of choices and very helpful and friendly staff. The level of food was consistently a very high standard throughout our stay. The best bacon and eggs, smoked salmon and coffee we've had in a hotel (and we're fussy). Extremely comfortable beds!! So many nice personal touches made this a memorable experience.

We stayed for one night after arriving on the train from London and left early the next morning to pick up a hire car. The decor of the room was tasteful and modern and the bathroom was lovely. Staff were very helpful on arrival and even offered a glass of prosecco! The location of the hotel is great if you want to explore the Old Town. It is a quick walk to Edinburgh castle.

Unfortunately, this property is a steep uphill hike from Edinburgh Waverley train station (despite google telling you it is "mostly flat"). The heating is adjusted on the TV and didn't really feel like it worked very well. The room we booked didn't really have a view - we had a view of the next building; it is being renovated and is covered in scaffolding. We tried ordering room service on the TV (all things are controlled through the room's TV) but it kept glitching and was too difficult so I had to ring reception to order. Despite me ordering specifically three items, we were delivered 4 items (doubled up on one of the items). We realised the error and just tried to eat the extra anyways, and paid for it. Be aware - room service is very pricey.

This is a lovely new hotel in the heart of Old Town. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and modern. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. You were always greeted warmly. Loved the food as well as the innovative cocktails we tried. Everything was first class. We will definitely be back!

A very classy hotel in a brilliant location. It’s very new so all very clean and shiny. The room was beautifully quiet which is excellent for noisy Edinburgh, although quite small but beautifully furnished. We had dinner at the chefs table which was magnificent. They’re lovely rooms for eating and relaxing

I thought the breakfast was a little expensive.

The staff, the chefs, the bartenders were superb. The Scottish hospitality never stopped and had a fantastic time. We had booked three rooms for our group and all rooms were outstanding. Location is perfect for getting around to all the sites.

It was a great place to stay for the city centre, very nice helpful staff.

it may be a virgin hotel but it’s very overpriced the room looked a lot bigger than it actually was, I ordered balloons for my husband’s 50th birthday I got 3 very deflated balloons that lasted a day. We love Edinburgh and have stayed a few times at different hotels but wanted something a bit classier for my husband’s birthday but it was no better than were we have stayed before and cost a lot more.

Booked a castle view and was given a room on lower floor facing scaffolding on Victoria Street. They said they upgraded me to a bigger room when I complained. I didn't ask for an upgrade nor need a "bigger room" since I was alone. I specifically requested a castle view and had paid extra for that. They weren't able to move me until next night which they did - to a higher floor facing south and I could see the flag poles of the Castle. Very unsatisfied with this. If booking and selecting a Castle View make sure you do not unpack until you get one - I didn't want to move again so put up with it. I've been to Edinburgh many times and this was something I had never had and really wanted. Although staff friendly and did move me once I still never got what I paid for. Sour taste here.
