Great central location in Kirkwall - handy for the cathedral and the Bishop's and Earl's Palaces. An old hotel, like many in Kirkwall, but well kept up to provide modern and comfortable amenities. Get past the austere facade and this is an attractive, historic building. For this standard of hotel, the rates are reasonable. The staff (reception, breakfast and the bar) are all very friendly and helpful.

For a very short, one night stay, I could find fault with nothing.

Receptionist was exceptional and really friendly and dealt with any issue we had. The location was good and we were able to reach the centre of town quickly. The food was very nice and the room was a good size

The room was a double bed not a twin as requested but this was fixed. A bar on the back of the bathroom was broken. But these were minor quibbles and I really enjoyed my stay

locality. Good access to facilities.

The provision of coffee and toast was stupid. Self service on these two items would have been better provided if proper coffee and toast facilities were put in place rather than long waits and coffee that should have been warmer. other hotels accommodate self provision successfully.

breakfast was excellent and room was comfortable and clean. excellent for my overnight stay.

The hotel was a little difficult to find in the dark as I arrived on the late ferry from Aberdeen. But this was not the hotels fault. Staff were waiting for me even though I arrived late.

Very central location, 3 free parking spaces at the front door. Traditional building decorated in a traditional style. Breakfast and dinner were both decent quality and quantity. Helpful and friendly staff.

Only issue we had was the flush mechanism in our toilet was a little temperamental. We always got a space but imagine in busier times it would be difficult to park close to the hotel. Breakfast room needed some TLC to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the hotel

Great staff, great location, hotel food good. However, menu same every night, desserts poor choice

Hotel a little tired. No soap in bathroom, sachet of shampoo and shower gel only. No biscuits either. We ran out of toilet roll as hadn't been stocked up. Some room for improvement...

in the heart of Kirkwall not too far away from restaurants and coffee shops. very nice room with a nice comfy bed.

my only gripe would be no handrail in the bathroom. I had a deep bath with water jets and because it was deep it was difficult to get out of. I’m sure this is easily remedied.

We booked s twin but got a double. The girl who checked us in did her best to get us another room, split the beds then redress the beds. She was then serving breakfast in the morning. Every hotel and restaurant on our tour was struggling with staff. These folks are doing their very best. The hotel was lovely

Room:clean and not cramped. Location: within a short walk of Kirkwall's main attractions and with a good sized car park. Restaurant: dinner - good, breakfast - very good. Staff: always courteous and helpful. Fiona deserves a special mention. Her "can do" attitude helped me organise a small celebration for my wife's birthday during our stay. Many thanks, Fiona.

The WiFi signal in our room was poor.
