What a nice surprise our stay was. We originally booked somewhere else but had to change reservations, and therefor didn´t expect much. The Old Crown Inn is every tourists wet dream: Down to earth, and affordable for smaller budgets, too, it has a well-frequented pub downstairs that serves really nice beer, and comfy, clean and lovingly set up rooms upstairs. Motivated and extremely friendly staff. It´s older and appears a bit ran down, but that´s only adding to the charm, since everything´s well kept. We didn´t eat there and therefor can´t say anything concerning the menu.

The staff were very helpful and the room I had was large, with plenty of hooks for hanging up coats etc. This is something I often find is not provided in hotels. The shower in the ensuite was easy to operate which again was a pleasant change..

The room had a slight damp odour which seemed to be worse when the window was closed. For that reason, during the night I had to re- open the window which was ok because it wasn't too cold and the bed was a long way from the window, but it meant that I got early morning traffic noise. Slightly disappointing that their good value cooked food stops being served at 6.30pm - I just missed the cutoff time. Good range of takeaways in the area though

So we arrived later than expected due to traffic. although we were about to miss the late orders for food the very nice lady (should of got her name) was able to cook us some fish and chips. was really appreciated as i has spent 6 hours on the road. the food was amazing and considering i dont like mushy peas, these were great! after we had a few drinks and the young bar staff were helpful and nice and no issues. The Rooms were really cosy. they were small but honestly id rather more comfortable rooms which were nice and relaxing to be in than huge rooms with nothing in them.

Only recommendation I would suggest is the just to have a wipe over and clean the floors a little more. my friends room was fine but mine was just a little dusty and i think that's purely its not been used for a few days. it didn't feel dirty the room just needed an extra wipe down. I did book the room the night before so understand it was extremely short notice. overall i found the rooms and pub very good and looking to rebook here in a few weeks time as its ideal location for my work. I didn't use the Wi-Fi or know if they have free Wi-Fi purely for the fact i didnt have time to use or but would be asking next time :)

The staff were incredibly kind and relaxed about everything - we had some issues with checking in and out at different times than we'd originally stated and they were totally fine about it, we were able to stay in the bar after last orders, we were able to order breakfast to eat in the garden! The whole stay was very easy and relaxed and the rooms were so well equipped and comfortable. It was a very short journey to the wedding we were up for and taxis were easy to get. We would thoroughly recommend and love to stay again!

I booked this accommodation for 1 night due to its location and price. Friendly welcome from staff. I was shown to my room, which had been recently converted from a bungalow into self contained rooms. There are also rooms above the pub. Comfortable room, nicely decorated with 2 single beds, TV, tea/coffee tray and hairdryer. en-suite shower room with WC and small wash basin. Complimentary shower gel/soap/shampoo. Free parking - vehicle registration number recorded by staff on arrival. Traditional pub with selection of cask and craft ales. Home cooked meals. I didn't sample either of these at this visit, as I'd made other arrangements prior to my visit. There were a couple of problems with my room, but these were rectified immediately. As this was a newly renovated room, these were just 'teething problems'. Good location for visiting Sheffield - bus stop nearby for buses to Sheffield city centre, Universities and Royal Hallamshire/Childrens and Jessops Hospitals. Also bus stop opposite for bus to Doncaster airport. Near to Meadowhall , Crystal Peaks and Drakehouse shopping centres, Boundary Outlet, Sheffield Arena, Ice Sheffield, English Institute for Sport. Rother Valley Country Park, Gullivers Valley Theme Park a short drive away. Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest and Peak District for a day visit. I'd certainly stay here again, when I have to return to Sheffield, and would recommend the Old Crown Inn to family and friends.

Just a minor quibble - the wash basin is very small, and so it was difficult to fill the kettle from the taps.

We didn’t get breakfast… when I booked online it said breakfast included… however when I enquired upon arrival I was told there wasn’t any breakfast. This wasn’t a problem as we decided we could easily go next morning somewhere. But then on departure we were told there was a breakfast option that we had ti tick upon booking… however there wasn’t that option when I booked… it was included. Again… a simple mix up I think and not too much of a problem.

Nothing.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. I used to live in this area, where I also went to school, and drink in the Old Crown so it was great to return to my roots. Parking was easy Had very good nights' sleeps.

Dislike is too strong, but Wifi didn't work in our room and also issues with the TV, although staff allowed us into the pub to use their wifi and provided refreshments. Access to the annexe was a little restricted too. As we only required somewhere to leave our luggage and sleep it was perfectly adequate.

This little pub is a gem! We had an event to go to at Sheffield arena so my wife and I booked it as it was a reasonable distance to the arena, however 2 things happened on our arrival, firstly my son and his friend who were attending the same event had booked the incorrect dates at another hotel and had no where to stay (typical teenagers) !! The lovely lady at the crown inn made arrangements for them to stay over with us for which I was extremely grateful as accommodation in Sheffield that night was sparse and REALLY expensive to say the least !! Secondly we needed a taxi to get to the arena which were all busy due to the event happening at the arena and we had left it too late to book one . One of the staff members who was off duty and his mum found out about our problem and kindly took us to the bus stop and escorted us on our journey and helped us get off at the right stop with directions as to where to go and how to get back, a MASSIVE thank you (we made it there in time and back plus had a great time) !!! Words aren’t enough in this review to explain how lovely and helpful everyone at this ace little pub bent over backwards to help me and my family for which I will be eternally grateful. My only regret is that my memory has failed me in remembering the names of all those people who did help us, you know who you are and thank you again, big up Sheffield and the old crown inn.

We liked having a spacious and light room with 3 beds. The beds were really comfortable and we could make tea and coffee. The room was clean and tidy and there was no disturbance from other guests or visitors. There was free parking. As food was not served after 7pm they allowed us to bring our take away and have it at the pub.

We didn't realise food was only served till 7pm.
