very beautiful old building and lovely position with gardens and plenty of parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. lovely glass sided cafe bar area with comfy sofas.

only 1 niggle- we asked for a ground floor room for my 92 year old mum in law as no lifts which was given - a lovely room in fact. But the problem came when we saw it had a shower over the bath- a high bath so there she was unable to have a shower or Bath all weekend as couldn’t possibly climb in. It didn’t occur to us that there wouldn’t be a walk in shower and obviously didn’t occur to the staff to think that if she needed a ground floor room she would have needed a walk in shower. anyway she managed but it is something I Will be aware of and ask about when maki g future bookings for her.

It was clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. It is also pet friendly. We like to stay at the hotel when we visit family and have stayed several times at different times in the year. We frequently stay over Christmas and on Christmas morning we always receive a little gift. Even our dog Basil had a stocking with a present and was given a sausage for breakfast every morning. Pets are not allowed in the main dining room but are allowed in the bar area which is a nice area to sit. Whenever we stay we have an enjoyable visit.

The decor is a little tired in places but that does not affect our stay and the staff at the hotel are always lovely.

The staff were helpful and polite when serving us but behind the scenes there must have been plenty of drama which they didn't try to hide. Whether we were relaxing at the bar with a drink or eating breakfast in the restaurant we could guarantee we would over hear the latest complaint from a customer or conflict between staff! Especially the ladies- need to keep it a little more professional around customer spaces!

As part of package we booked for breakfast and evening meal. The staff were very friendly and the service excellent despite all the covid restrictions.

The only thing we didn't like was when accessing the free Wi-Fi we had to agree to free promotional material being emailed to us.

Fabulously spacious and comfortable bed. I often sleep badly in hotel beds but I slept like a log both nights. The hotel was quiet (in between Christmas and New Year) but service was excellent.

Availability of a draught real ale. It is slightly amazing that they didn't have one. Public areas could have been a bit warmer. Change the CD playing in the background more frequently - it gets tedious listening to the same 10 songs playing every 30 minutes.

Large and very comfortable room, with a walk in wet room bathroom. Plenty of good quality towels were provided. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely excellent. A wide variety of things available, all of which were delicious. Cooked breakfast used good quality products and was delivered promptly. An iron and ironing board was requested during our stay which was delivered promptly. Staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

I had a two night stay and the room was not serviced between nights - which I don't have a problem with, provided that more than one ration of tea / coffee / milk and sugar is provided in the room without having to request it, which it wasn't. After 2300 the bar does not accept cash or card and is only available for items to be charged to your room, which you can only do if you have set up a credit card to your room at check in. I don't think this was made clear at check in.

Stay here whenever we visit family in the area, always happy with everything. Didn't have breakfast this time purely because we didn't want to rush in the mornings. Comfy bed, warm room.

The only little gripe was that they are still not servicing rooms if you stay more than one night. We stayed for 3 nights and it was not a problem, we were happy to tidy our own bed and the room didn't really need cleaning. However, there was no option to have the room serviced if you wanted it done and the explanation that it is to keep guests and staff safe is a bit lame now that restrictions have been relaxed. We asked for extra coffee and milk and toilet rolls when we needed them. This wouldn't put us off staying again.

The location was spot on for what we needed

The bed was far too soft and mattress moved everytime we moved. Also the room was fat too hot, uncomfortably hot. Couldn't open the window as we had the noise from the wedding that was on even after 1am. Breakfast was good apart from the few mistakes not only with our order but others around. Communication between floor and kitchen staff could've been better. We waited over 15 mins for a coffee and 25 mins for breakfast while watching others who were in after us being served

The hotel is both well situated and very well staffed, who are attentive and look after you without hesitation.

The hotel while clean and comfortable could do a with the rooms given a bit of a touch-up, carpets on stairs are becoming thread-bare and let hotel down a little.

The room was large clean and tidy, the bed was massive and much more comfortable than our last stay, we also asked for a quiet room so overall very happy. The Reception staff were very nice and friendly and the breakfast staff and breakfast excellent on the first morning unfortunately a big group stayed that night and they did not have enough staff to cover so both the service and breakfast suffered on the 2nd morning.

Had stayed there before but not ate dinner previously in the restaurant, we were the only table but service was very slow and never asked if we wanted a drink apart from the water they brought to the table??
