My first solo trip away! Even though I am confident in most scenarios, going to Stratford- Upon-Avon was outside my comfort zone. Very friendly staff and a big thanks to Daniel (day one) for making me welcome and Heather this morning for a lovely breakfast. Both took a keen interest in the client (me) so well done to them. The room was excellent and very clean. Although the stairs are steep to the rooms above the pub, this was pointed out so no problem from my point of view. You do get a bit of noise from the main road but you are in the town centre so to be expected. The pub isn't noisy on a mid week break at this time of year so getting a table wasn't an issue. Wi-Fi is also excellent throughout the hotel (so I could watch football and cricket with no lag). Good selection of lagers on draft and a couple of ales on pump. Although not a gin drinker, I noticed they have an excellent selection. Dinner on day two, very nice, breakfast this morning, even better. If I ever decide to go back and see the random bloke from history who is featured heavily in the town, I will be going back to The Pen and Parchment by Green King

Perfect location right on the edge of town and only a few minutes taxi ride from the station. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms were kept clean and tidy, great food, an extremely comfortable bed, loved the blackout curtains and the shower was far better than the one I have at home....... I couldn't ask for more!

The location was a tad noisy at times in the night with partygoers making their way home but this was passing noise, I had both windows open and it was a saturday night in town - to be expected really. Saying that, with such a comfortable bed, I was soon fast asleep again!

On arrival the pub was busy and there was a queue at the bar, I asked a passing member of staff where the check in was for the hotel. He made a very sarcastic point that we were three hours early to check in. He came across very rude. I think he saw how taken aback I was and then started to try and make jokes. No need to be rude and have an attitude towards a couple who just wanted to know if there was a safe place to leave their bag so they could get on and enjoy their weekend away! A little weird guy. Shouldn't be front of house. Won't be going back.

Did not have breakfast, but was offered to book it. So couldn’t comment on the food. Staff very helpful and super friendly.

The service provided in the room, it could not be faulted. Whoever was responsible for cleanliness was very professional, room was cleaned in our absence without any inconvenience to us.

Only one problem, on consecutive days there was no full menu in bar. Bar staff very apologetic, this must be soul destroying customers walking in being told very politely no food available to be cooked consequently customers turning around and walking out.

The location is perfect, in walking distance of many bars and restaurants. Brilliant if you want to see all things Shakespeare! The staff we encountered were absolutely amazing, especially Amy, who was polite and extremely personable!

Not so many breakfast options and the full English wasn't overly full. It was also covered in pepper, without requesting it. Not the best accommodation if you are over 6ft tall, due to the beams (beautiful though) and the low doorways. The drinks are a but over priced too.

Breakfast was excellent ,,great choices,,, full English was very good Room was lovely very clean, tea and coffee facilities one thing I would say the bed was a little hard for me but my husband found it fine Location was perfect

The only thing I can think of was the bed being too hard everything else was perfect ,staff were helpful and friendly ,perfect location ,,,breakfast was very good ,rooms were nice and well equipped would defiantly stay again

The room is nice and modern. To get to the room you have to go up steps and the window is overlooking the hop on hop off bus car park. Even though it's next to the main road the noise wasn't over intrusive. Lucy the landlady is a really nice helpful lady. The bathroom was clean. The beds very comfy and the bedding extremely clean and white cotton. Nice touch that there was two bottles of water provided along side tea,coffee and chocolate. The shower facilities were perfect. I would definitely stay here again. Location was perfect over the road from the centre and the basin where the boats are.

The Pen & Parchment hotel is a quaint 10 room place attached to a lovely pub where we had a delicious breakfast. We loved it here so much we tried to add an extra night but they couldn't accommodate due to a race happening in a nearby town so make sure to book ahead of time! Located directly across from the river we were able to explore Stratford with ease. The room itself has been fully updated including a lovely bath tub!

Enjoyed a very comfortable stay in a lovely cosy twin room. Exceptionally good food. I would particularly recommend the sea bass & scallops on a pea, mint & prawn risotto served with an accompanying specialist gin. Also a great choice of breakfasts. Staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. Location perfect, opposite the gardens, monument & RSC. Would definitely visit again.

I couldn’t fault anything. It beats other hotels I’ve stayed in for comfort & value for money.
