We just spent a one night stopover at this hotel and it was really enjoyable. The room we stayed in, in the separate accommodation area was rustic/ gothic / medieval. Most of the bedroom had exposed rock and it made a change from a modern Travelodge type room. The room felt like you had really gone back in time in a good way. If you want modern you might be disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really nice and quite large. We visited on a Friday night and it was quite busy initially when we arrived. We didn't eat in the bar area, but we did have a drink later on and it was quieter and was a nice way to finish off the evening.

Nothing really

We ate at Lunchtime on arrival - The Food was excellent, Very Reasonably Priced and the Beer choice was very good and the Staff Service was Excellent!

My Husband was unwell early evening and as we eat at lunchtime I asked the Barmaid if we could order sandwiches to have in our room but she said that the Chef would not make sandwiches in the evening - she did not even go and make my request to the Chef/Kitchen - I told her I understood it was not available on the Food Menu but was disappointed that my request was not even considered - I also pointed out that the Welcome sheet also said that Evening Meals were only available On Monday to Thursdays - she said she would pass on my comments to the Management!

location and atmosphere, character of the place. friendly and welcoming staff and extremely helpful. Breakfast excellent and substantial choice. Excellent value for money.

if I was being picky. Decor and furnishings in my room where old and could do with modernising. But bed was comfortable with clean sheets and plenty of fluffy towels in the bathroom. You can here noise from other rooms, door banging and noise from Pub downstairs but not so loud you couldn’t sleep. But it is a hotel/ pub and I loved the atmosphere and the fact it had that. real character and home from home. Would book again.

The staff were brilliant. I had a problem with noisy cellar fans and got moved to another room without question. I then had a problem with the lack of hot water in the new room, a plumber was called in and the problem was fixed. All this was done immediately without question and with a smile.

This is a 400-year-old building with an amazing history, so there are creeks, squeaks and wonky floors all over the place. So for me personally as a very light sleeper, I had a restless couple of nights, but that is no fault of the staff. It's just the way it is.

Off the main building our room was clean and spacious for the price, unique and quaint looking b&b, great bar/pub attached, fantastic outdoor space. Breakfast was good with a decent choice for the price, they even had a better vegan option than most. Staff were very polite and attentive.

Need to keep dairy alternative milks and butter out as standard to make breakfast THE best for this price range (can get long life alternatives in the small packs for drinks) The hairdryer didn't work in my room and I wish I'd checked before washing my hair but I'm sure easily changed.

Staff were great as always - Breakfast excellent and rooms are still good but are starting to get dated and probably need refurbishment before long as some of lamps in the room don't always work and are age damaged / broken

WIFI at the Hotel unless in the main building has gone downhill and is terrible with little or no signal strength at all now. less than 1/2 roll of toilet paper to last for two days and nothing topped up or checked cleaned during a multi day visit anymore - Some standards have certainly gone downhill since the takeover by Redcat Inns although they have been doing some work recently to improve the outside areas and driveway / carpark by pressure washing and pruning and other services like breakfast are still great thankfully.

the location was great for our trip, staff super helpful and friendly , really comfortable bed. food was delicious, we had dinner and the breakfast was the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. the breakfast waitress was exceptionally lovely 😊

not much not to like but our room could have done with a deep clean. the bedding was lovely and clean and crisp but the bathroom was a little bit grotty as in the tiles and grouting were very tired. that being said if we need to be in this area again we would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel and bar was lovely. Breakfast was fresh and hot. The staff where amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We ate in the bar Friday night and the food was lovely and prices where reasonable. Our room wasn't in the bar but in the building next to it which looked like a country house. It was dated but lovely. Bathroom was clean, we had plenty off tea coffee sugar n milk. White clean towels. Everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Perfect central hotel only 5 mins walk into town and asda literally next door. We got a bus into Birmingham for markets which was only £6 return for 2 if any 1 wants to do that. 20 minutes ride.

The bed wasn't very comfy as the mattress was old. Could do with updating but that was all.

Stayed over for one night. Room was clean and comfortable, they are more classic in decor and design but that gives it some charm. Free WiFi and iron/board and hairdryer provided. Beer garden is lovely in the afternoon sun. The breakfast was great, there wasn't a menu but they basically make you a fry up and give you whatever you want! Staff really friendly and helpful.

The shower was a little on the short side - I'm 5'6 and had to stoop to get my head under! But you can take it off the wall, so it wasn't a huge deal.
