The Aston Tavern is such a beautiful building and the room I stayed in was just as breathtaking. I personally loved it's traditional, eclectic aesthetic and extremely comfortable beds. The bathroom was gorgeous with a great shower and complimentary Clarins products! There was a lot of choice at breakfast and the staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I would most definitely stay at the Aston Tavern again when return to Birmingham.

Nothing really, I'd only say that from the outside of the property you can't tell how beautiful it is inside. I would highly recommend to anyone on the fence to go ahead and book!

The breakfast was really good, a true English breakfast was a huge full plate just couldn’t eat it all, also there was cereals, fresh juice, yoghurts, fruit continental breakfast, all quality produce , and tea in a china teapot with matching tea cups was a lovely touch. The rooms was all divine you can feel the pure history which the owners have researched and named each of the rooms after owners going back hundred of years, the rooms were all beautiful and each in different colour scheme, the hotel has been finished off to a high standard of decoration in the Victorian theme, with beautiful chandeliers in the bar area, this hotel is a hidden treasure run as a family business where you can see the owner takes pride in his hotel there’s no short cuts,a very friendly guy, even in the bedrooms there’s china cutlery, expensive biscuits and beautiful en-suite bathroom with robes for your convenience, the toiletries was all Clarins branded with lovely fluffy white towels. We go to a lot of hotels and this is by far the most welcoming, accommodating, charming decoration, no stone unturned property we have as yet stayed in, we will Definitely be returning in the future.

The front of the building does not do the hotel an ounce of justice, when we parked in the car park my husband said shall we go somewhere else as there was scaffold all surrounding it plus looks a bit dingy until we walked inside then was wowed ,and thankful I found it online .

The people - Paul and chef and our chat in the morning. Just fantastic people. Decor was pretty lovely in the rooms. Generous breakfast.

These aren't criticisms, more observations about location. A little traffic noise early in the morning. Place looked a little dark on arrival - but I understand we don't need all the lights on! Not loads of places to eat on foot - 25 mins on foot - but in a car you'd have no problem at all. People more than made up - and lifted spirits.

The lovely rooms and cleanliness

The property was great and all the staff were lovely… including the owner and his daughter … unfortunately we were in our bedroom ready to check out when the owner started to shout at one of the staff about drinking coffee whilst on shift .. The language he used towards this staff was terrible and very upsetting for us … We don’t know who he was shouting at but after treating us with respect and being very friendly this behaviour shocked us … and for that reason we won’t stay again .. Shame because it’s very interesting place but if he was upset by the staff taking a break whilst they should have been working..he could have done the telling off in private… Felt very sorry for the staff on the receiving end of his rage ….

Very friendly staff, lovely garden and courtyard. Very nice, bright breakfast room and accommodation rooms great presentation

A little more freedom as we needed to be let out of the hotel and Tony had to let us in when we returned but he was very quick to respond. Too ad the bar was closed but all minor inconveniences

I travelled for a taekwondo competition and the bed was so comfortable I actually overslept. I never thought to ask the staff for a wakeup call but, when we were rushing our checkout in the morning, they gave us some fruit and croissants to make up for the fact we had to miss the cooked breakfast. I kinda wish there had been an option to pay less to not have it included since if I'd been on time we would have left before breakfast anyway but the thought was lovely. We also forgot our headphones when we checked out and they were nice enough to put them aside for us to pick up after we finished at the event.

It wasn't exactly a problem but I wish the locks were more up to date - maybe a magnetised keycard. The massive oldschool key was a fun novelty but we forgot to lock the door after we collapsed on the bed and some random dude just walked into our room - luckily nothing awkward was happening but he was pretty horrified with embarrassment.

This is the best hotel we've ever stayed in , we came for the commonwealth games . The staff were so unbelievably helpful and kind . Providing my young daughter with food when we got back late. The bed was so comfortable, the room was beautiful and the food was amazing. If we ever return to Birmingham this will be the only place we will stay.

Only downside was the location we came by train and although only a 5 mins walk it wasn't the best the hotel definitely felt out of place for the area. Travel links both train and bus were however close and easily accessible .

Friendly, helpful staff. we arrived two hours early and they welcomed us to wait in the lounge/bar/snug which was decorated beautifully. Victorian with a modern twist. We were offered complimentary tea and coffee. They went out of there way to prepare our room early. Room spectacular and to a high standard. Quality bedding and towels. Breakfast spot on served on red hot plates served with obliging staff to make your stay feel really special. Will most definitely be staying again and for longer.

Beautifully furnished throughout, too beautiful to put into words, needs to be seen, as every detail is a treat to the senses, it’s much more than well placed furniture, it’s all the little details too. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast service was faultless and also very delicious. There’s a real sense of heart and soul in the place. Perfect hospitality received throughout our stay. Warmest appreciation to Paul, Michelle, family and staff, we will definitely be back and will be recommending you to all.

What a wonderful place, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the owners were also on site and very approachable. The bedrooms were just stunning, beautifully furnished with so many lovely touches from Clarins toiletries and Hugo Boss towels! The bed had the most luxurious duvet on it, like sleeping in a giant marshmallow! Breakfast was amazing, everything you could want for breakfast was there. Piping hot and plenty of it. If your looking for somewhere to stay out of town(plenty of free parking) then with a friendly informal ambience then is just the place!

Not the best location, but easy to find, no where to eat in the area, but a great location for the Villa ground and Aston Hall
