The Curly Redwood Lodge is a classic mid-century modern structure built entirely from the lumber of one giant Redwood tree. It has been maintained in beautiful condition and was spotlessly clean.

Due to forest fires in the area the entire town was without electricity during our stay, as it had been for the previous three days. The Lodge owners were doing their best to keep things going for guests. They had a small generator to run their office, but beyond offering to charge our phones they understandably couldn’t provide electricity, hot water, or Wi-Fi. This was truly a community emergency, and we were grateful for the comfort and safety that they gave us.

The rooms and the furnishing at this great lil' place are rather nostalgic than they are old, as is the architecture and design of the whole motel. Well maintained facility and grounds; room was clean and rather spacious with a microwave and fridge. Bathroom was pretty small, but definitely fit the whole time-capsule aesthetic (very unusual acoustic in the shower stall, btw...). Had a great time , would spent a night or two here again if we're ever back this way.

We really loved all the character! It's a peice of motoring Americana history! So fun! I suggest selling t-shirts, towels and items like the penholders at the front desk that rem8nd travelors to call home and let friends/family know they arrived safely.

We needed an iron and a board- and there wasn't one in the room. I am not sure if it is because its a fire risk? Also, there weren't any bibles in the rooms- a bible in the room would make it a more authentic experience.

The location was perfect for our uses. The staff was fantastic to deal with and very helpful with the questions that I had about the area. The room was very clean and fresh. Can't ask for much more in my world. Jay

The only thing that we found not completely to our liking was the position of the tv in the room in relation to the bed. Not much they could do without adding a stand/table to put it on. Not really a big deal.

We loved the retro feel of the hotel. The room was huge and tastefully decorated. The heating worked a treat, as did the microwave, fridge, and shower. There is a dedicated parking space right outside the window (and it's under cover!). There is a lovely area in the middle of the forecourt garden for smokers to enjoy their vice without bothering nonsmokers. Location is right on Highway 101, and getting in and out couldn't be easier.

We loved it! My only suggestion is if there could be a table where people could eat, that would be perfect in this time of Covid when some want to avoid going out to restaurants.

The original design of the building as been well preserved (wood paneling everywhere!), and anything that has been added or changed maintains and enhances the whole vibe. Vintage motel stay! Exceeded expectations.

It suited us fine and enhanced our experience in Crescent City, but if others are looking for contemporary services, staff, and amenities like they might find at a resort, they might be disappointed.

The location and history.

Unable to communicate with the desk clerk. He was insistent that we did not bring the dog we did not have into our room or he would charge our card $150. for cleaning. As we were leaving the office, he says for only $20. more dollars you can stay in a room with a remodeled bathroom. The room had a bit of a musty smell, hopefully due to age. Otherwise the place is fantastic, the history alone is amazing.

A clean, comfortable place to stay. Good value, with beautuful decor and cute retro touches. After a week of boring hotel shower/ bath combos, I appreciated the tiled shower with excellent water pressure.

I kind of wished there had been an information card with the story of the hotel or some historical photos in the room. I didn't spend much time in the lobby...they may have had something there.

Beautiful woodwork in this nostalgic motor lodge. Newer owners who are trying hard to make upgrades to this historic property. We stayed in a room with newly remodeled bathroom which was beautiful. Owner told us all carpets are new.

Beds were a little soft for my taste.

This is a pretty unique lodge, all made from a single redwood tree! The rooms are spacious, as was the bathroom.

Due to no fault of the owners, the power was out the night of our stay due to fires in the area. In fact, the entire town of Crescent City was shut down! But it was cozy to have a candlelit evening 😉
