The Monarch Inn

simple but friendly motel style hotel, in lovely Mariposa, at a price that makes sense. despite a couple of my picky first world problems, you must know that this is an extremely affordable and entirely lovely hotel - if you’ve stayed at any similar hotel with muffin style breakfast!

Air con has been fitted with a wall unit control, and this control lacks the ‘fan only’ option. So for us in April, it would switch off and on loudly all night. terrible sleep. only choice - no air con, or ear plugs. this is a shame as the hotel has clearly made efforts to upgrade - but they need to get this feature looked at. we asked and had it confirmed that the fan only option was disabled with the new exciting wall unit :) also, make the curtains shut properly? And get some cream for the coffee… milk is good, but cream (not powder) would be an easy and cheap addition to the fridge at breakfast - and make the coffee taste truly American :-)

Room is clean and spacious. The basin is not in the bathroom, which also makes it easier to wash up while the other pax is using the toilet. Amenities are also provided. Bed is comfortable and pillow is just nice. They offer juices, coffee all day long near the reception. Breakfast spread was cereals, muffins (I love their blueberry muffins!), bagel, English muffins which you can toast as well. Coffee, tea, juice, milk and bottle water also provided. Wifi reception is good. Plenty of free parking within the premise of the Inn. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Great location!

Bathroom is a little weird smell when we reached initially. After a while, the smell is gone.

The room was huge, we had two beds when we only needed one The bed was confortable, the bathroom nice (had a separate switch for ventilation so less noisy than in other hotels) The room was soundproof and it was very calm The staff was very helpful: they offered to call the Yosemite snow line for the guests and relay the information There was a coffee (and tea) machine in the room :) Breakfast was unexpectedly included and was okay (a few drinks, coffee - but no tea, cereal, muffins and bagels that we could toast) The hotel is walking distance from lots of restaurants and a few bars (notably the Hideout Saloon which we enjoyed a lot) There were lots of parking spaces available

The hotel is far from Yosemite Valley (about an hour, 45min from park entrance)

The Hotel was really well situated close the Yosemite national park. We spend three nights there and were fully satisfied. We spend the most time in the park and it was easily reachable with a 45 minutes drive which is ok considering you can`t get a log or cabin in the park and only plan daily hikes. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the beds comfy and as a big plus there was a pool where you could rest. All together a great stay

To be fair, there were only minor details. For example for some reason we did not have any lamps at the bedside so the only source was the major light and our phone lights when tumbeling back to bed. But otherwise there was really nothing really to complain about.

I was originally booked at The Monach Inn, but due to high demand and a computer glitch, the room was not available. They were very upfront and honest about it and had already booked me at their sister property at The Yosemite Inn. Staff and both locations were very friendly and extremely accommodating. The process to switch hotels went seamlessly. I would definitely book either one of these properties again.

The only thing I did not like was having to switch hotels at the last minute upon arrival, but they made it so quick and seamless, that it was not a problem. They were so incredibly nice and pleasant to work with that I would book either location again in a heartbeat.

we stayed here for couple of nights with our family. The overall stay was good. The standard queen bed room was spacious. The kitchen was small but functional.

An area of improvement would surely be lighting in the room as it wasn’t sufficient. None of the lamps were working in the room except one wall light. Probably they can also add more seating arrangements in the main hall for breakfast.

We booked this room for a last minute trip to Yosemite National Park. It was about 1 hour out of the park and even though the town is small, it has a lot of charm. The best part is that they have 24/7 breakfast which included cereal, muffins, juice, coffee, and water bottles. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the hotel.

The bathroom sink is located outside of the actual bathroom. This could be fine if you just need to wash your hands and the bathroom is occupied, but the trade-off is that there is very little counterspace unlike most other hotels.

Two female friends traveling together and we were very conscious of safety/security everywhere we stayed during our trip. We felt completely comfortable at the Monarch Inn and throughout Mariposa. Was the perfect gateway to Yosemite for long days of hiking. Comfortable beds and clean showers - well lit back parking lot, and entryways. We were glad we booked!

No issues.

The room was spacious, the beds were comfy . The parking lot is quite big. Location is actually good as you have access to both entrances to Yosemite( approx. 1 hours drive) and there is a supermarket just 2 mins away from the Inn.

There is breakfast available but when we went to the reception everything was gone, so don't count on it. Cleaning could be better, we found someone's food in the fridge and some old towel behind the chest of drawers.

Hotel is located an hour drive from Yosemite National Park, in quite and calm city of Mariposa. It has nice small pool. Room was big, with basic equipemenet, but it full cover my expectation (microwave, fridge). Room was clean and fresh. Coffee, tea and cold drinks available 24/day. Breafast was modest, but tasty and fresh. They started serving it a bit earlier after my request. Nice free parking in the backyard of hotel.
