Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites

Big room, mattress is firm which was perfect. Quiet and cool despite not using a/c very much in 100F. Looked like plenty of parking throughout the day. Didn’t use the facilities (pool), but looked nice. There are hot too many restaurants in the area, but chinese one is pretty good for the price. Bathroom didn’t drain properly, but we called reception and it was fixed quickly.

As many mentioned before breakfast area is small, but we did manage to find the spot each time. Variety is not great, but you wouldn’t expect 5 star buffet in here. There’s a microwave in the buffet area so you can grab some takeout and reheat there in addition for your breakfast. Personally not a big fan of the sink being in the room, prefer traditional bathroom. Downside is that once you open the door to the hallway everyone passing by can see your mess near the sink area.

Spacious room. Nicely located in Oakhurst, where there are a few restaurants, a large grocery store, pharmacy, etc. About 30-45 drive to the south entrance of Yosemite (and from the entrance it’s another hour to the Central Valley). The property has sauna, hot tub and a pool.

Breakfast was OK, in addition to the usual coffee/toast and cereal, they served scrambled eggs and sausage but it was the same thing everyday, and they usually ran out of food before the breakfast closing time. Also, I was disappointed to see that in a place located next to a nature sanctuary there isn’t much consideration for the environment, in fact all the breakfast ware is disposable.

The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and had everything that we needed - king sized bed, extra pillows, nice bathroom with tub, mini-fridge, and a keurig. Great stay overall!

We could hear the people above us walking as the floor squeaked. That was ok the first 2 days as we were out the whole day. The last night, some people with children must have moved in and they were running around at night. It was very noisy. The breakfast was adequate. I would suggest some bagels or something. We ate our own food the first 2 days as we left for Yosemite before breakfast was provided.

The Room was in a great location. Close to Gas Station, Convenient Stores and Restaurants. We stayed here to visit Yosemite, and it was in a good location for that. The Room was good, all facilities inside were as expected. The breakfast was good as well.

The Laundry Room didn't have any instructions on how to use the machine. Maybe since it was my first time using a Coin Laundry Machine in the USA I was confused. The person at the Reception did help me eventually so it was fine.

The room was super large and perfectly clean. Beds were comfy. Nice refrigerator with freezer compartment and microwave. We were in room 224 which overlooked the pool. Location was excellent to get to Yosemite. There’s a good elevator and Justin at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. we would not eat at the Oakhurst 41 restaurant again which is very close to the hotel. Hotel was modern decor with a desk and sofa. easy parking. Sit down vanity and even a magnifying mirror.

The coffee at breakfast was terrible even though it was free most people were not drinking it

Spacious large clean rooms! All four of us were able to move around without congestion. Super love there are a lot of outlets to charge all our devices at once, phones, iPads, apple watches, computer, GoPro, drones etc. Also the pool, sauna, spa etc., my main reason to book in this hotel for my kids and for us because we needed a place to relax our tired muscles after hiking at Yosemite NP.

There’re two I didn’t like, there’s only one hook for hanging in the bathroom which probably meant for towels only but no other hooks to hang your dirty clothes. Second, the air-conditioning cannot be controlled so my kids were sweating with the summer heat at 2am, the air-conditioning is set to a time and would turn off at a certain time so we’re feeling hot disrupting our sleep in the wee hours.

Location is very beautiful, just a half an hour drive to the south entrance of Yosemite National Park and ca. 1h20 from Yosemite Valley. Bass Lake is also within 15 minutes, great place to go for a hike. Couple of very good restaurants within walking distance as well. Room was very spacious, quiet and clean. Lots of free parking spaces around the hotel building. Staff at the reception were very helpful when we asked them a couple of tips on how to get around.

Breakfast variety was somewhat limited and the same both days. And there was limited space for the hotel guests to have their breakfast. There was only plastic cutlery and single-use packaging for many things, definitely not environmentaly friendly...

The staff was friendly, the room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed ( a microwave, refrigerator and coffee). We visited Yosemite 3 days in a row, the park entrance was just short of a 30 minute drive. The drive to Yosemite Valley was about 1,5 hours. Breakfast was basic but had everything we needed including some fruits.

It would be nice if there were more options at breakfast, for example some some bagels in stead of only toast or waffles and also some cream cheese. The room felt a bit dated. You had to ask the day before if you wanted your room cleaned.

immaculate clean, high quality furniture and toiletries, very spacious room (we stayed in family suite) with dining set, very comfortable bed and quality bedding, tasteful decor, reasonable price, heating unit was much quieter compared to other places we stayed in, I will not hesitate to come back. Also location is easy in and out to the highway and there is plenty parking space. There is a small pool which we did not use. Checkout is at noon, which allows plenty of time for packing. In other places checkout was 10 or 11 am and we felt rushed every time.

nothing major, free breakfast is same as in other places (eggs, sausage, cereals, bread), nothing outstanding so we skipped it.
