Hampton Inn San Diego Downtown

Our room was very spacious, very comfortable and had a good sized television. The included breakfast was delicious including a waffle station, and oatmeal station and eggs and sausage, amazing

Possibly found a camera in our room but informed the staff. Very modern problem and I'm not surprised. Don't like having to pay for parking but also understandable with getting a hotel in the city

Easy access to and from the airport via bus 992 - the stops are a block away. The stop for the Green Line trolley (County Center stop) is a block away. Santa Fe Depot (the train station) is three blocks away. Walkable distance to Little Italy and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Old Town, Seaport Village, the Convention Center and the Gaslamp Quarter are all stops on the Green Line Trolley. You can catch the Blue Line Trolley to San Ysidro (the border stop) just across the street from the Santa Fe Depot (America Plaza). Very good breakfast.

This hotel met my expectations.

The staff was super friendly! The breakfast was yummy! The rooms were very clean and nice!

The parking was $40.00 per day!! What the heck with THAT?? I would think that since we're paying $2,100.00 already for our stay, the parking would be included. That was a little (a LOT) ridiculous. Just another way for the property to get as much money out of us as they could. This extra money to park kind of put a bad taste in our mouths. Everything else was awesome.

Upon our early arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by Miguel. We asked if there was early check in and he said it was avail but at a fee. we agreed and decided to check in early. Miguel had me look over and sign the Hilton Honors Program paperwork. I had not asked to sign up but I’ve always wanted to and let it slip my mind until it was in the past and a “next time”. I thanked Miguel for this kind gesture and informed him that he had in fact made my day! (As an honors reward member you have access to early check in!) Miguel knew that and was why he had me fill out the paperwork! He thought of the customer first! I haven’t had that kind of customer service since BEFORE COVID. It has become such a selfish world. Miguel gave great customer service and excellent initiative. the rest of our stay was pretty standard. The stair situation is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

The stair access was not easily accessible , if at all. As I was only on the 2nd floor and don’t like using the elevator. This hotel did not make this easy. Nor did they provide any an information about it.

Great location. I called the hotel prior to check in, and they told me if I downloaded the Hilton Honors app, I could use the mobile key... as well as pick out the exact room I wanted. I was able to select a room on the harbor side, and had a view of the water and a pirate ship! We went for a concert, and this hotel was located across the street. I recommend the King & Queen Cantina around the corner, great margaritas! The room was standard, nothing special. Perfect for a girls weekend.

This is standard for San Diego altogether... but I don't like having to pay for parking! I believe it was $20/nt.

Location is Ideal. Just around the corner from Little Italy with all its great restaurants and smaller boutique shops. It was also across the street from the Harbor and all the activity going on there. Best part? All this was within a comfortable walking distance from hotel.

Front desk did not listen to my instructions on how to divide the total costs among 4 of us. We were on a "GirIs' Trip and I was charged the full amount of 2 rooms for 4 individual people. He told we could split the cost 4 ways at check-out, which we did! Front desk SAID he was going to take the original (check-in) charge of the 3 others off my account, but he did not! Hampton Inns got paid DOUBLE for this stay. I am still fighting this 2 weeks later. Also, I left a HOTEL LAUNDRY BAG full of dirty clothes and forgot it. After returning home the next day, a call to the hotel informed me that Housekeeping assumed it was trash and threw it out!!!!! BAH!! I lost about $300 in clothing.

Breakfast was not as good as I liked. The scrambled eggs appear to be processed liquid. 1 of 3 mornings had bacon. Other selections like bagels were not memorable. Coffee was hot and fresh. Location is the best, only 10min from airport, a short walk to the waterfront and ship museums and attractions. Petco Park is nearby (did not go there), and the S Diego Zoo is 15min away, that was great. The Italy district is 3 blocks away walking distance, which had plenty of restaurants and live atmosphere. Room was good. Service is fine. No microwave in the room though, so to use it, you have to go down to the lobby. Daily charge for parking $$. Parking garage was secured that activates the gate with room keycard.

The property is a great place to stay downtown San Diego if this where you want to stay. So close to water just a cross a street the parking garage was difficult if you drive a large SUV or truck 2 street or blocks away from little Italy. A must place to see and eat. The food amazing a nice night life. The waterfront a nice walk to see the large ships and boats and a cross the street a clean safe playground for the kids

The only thing I could think of was the elevator where a little scary. But I think when we where checking out they where better nothing bad to say about this place a great place to stay

A couple of the younger staff were a bit short when asked questions (rude in a way like they don’t want to be bothered). The older Spanish speaking staff were always so kind. Also the location made it difficult to have a good nights rest due to loud siren from train arrival notifications every 30 minutes and train passing. In addition, other guests were allowed to mingle (loudly) in the middle of the night in the hallways. Lastly, we have stayed before and always allowed to stay an additional hour, however this time when asked the rep said a quick no with no explanation or sense of making one feel like they cared. For example instead of saying no and hanging up they could’ve said “usually there’s no problem, however unfortunately today we cannot because we…I’m so sorry”
